Agreed about ep 7 being out of place. Cool idea to introduce another character with gifts, but the episode was weird. The rest of the season was great however.
It's essentially an extra episode (last season was 8 eps, this season 9) that I'm sure sets things up for next season. The creators even called it an "extra episode" in the after show.
Just finished it, not as good as first season but still fantastic. Episode 7 was entirely out of place. Though I do look forward to them hopefully introducing other characters with powers in next season. Also Max's step brother should not have been in it at all. He literally adds nothing to the entire season and plays no vital role at any point like Bob did.
The development of characters like Steve is what sets this show apart from many others imo. Would have been so easy (and lazy) to make him one-note douche boyfriend, but they refused.
Spoiler Was not expecting Bob to get got like that. Needed more Eleven throughout. A little inconsistent in Eleven being a fish out of water still and suddenly at times being a normal person figuring things out. But still great. Pretty mich watched it throughout one day. 9/10
Loved the season Spoiler I really liked Sean Astin's character. Had a feeling he'd die a hero, but I thought he integrated well. This season was much funnier than last. Dustin was the real mvp. I don't really see what Max and Billy added to the series. They were the Poochie of this season for me. That said, I'd jerk it to the Mrs. Wheeler and Billy porn. Mr. Wheeler as cliche baby boomer 80s dad is one of the more underrated parts of the show for me. Eleven is such a badass. Nancy is bae.
Nancy low key cracking up when he dropped his food that same scene was great. Don't think that was scripted
Mr. Wheeler is my favorite character. Slow start. Great finish. Agree on Ep7 And had to go back and watch the opening scene afterwards bc I thought she had the same power as El when I saw it the first time. Pretty cool stuff. Really good season Curious what Smokey McSpider is gonna do in Season 3
I feel like they've setup this series to have a excellent 2-3 season run. It's amazes me how much better this series is than any other show on Netflix.
I'd put Master of None and Daredevil on the same level. 3 completely different shows though, so tastes may vary.
I don't think they have a set goal or at least I don't think they've made it public what they want to do. I read an article by nerdist last week that said that this season opened up so many options for the writing team. Which is awesome because they very easily could have gotten lazy with this show.
I haven't watched Daredevil. But I do love Master of None. Before going to bed last night, I said to myself that Netflix has spoiled me this October with tv series. First Mindhunter and this installment. It's be a great month for binge watching.
I like it and thought the character development was on the same level as True Detective season one and Hannibal (the tv series). Also, the cinemotography and music sets a great mood. If you've seen any of David Fincher's other projects. You should watch this series.
Watched Stranger Things for the first time Thursday night and just finished season 2. This show far exceeded my expectations, I love every single thing about and i’m sad there are no more new episodes for me to watch.
The after show was pretty interesting too. I enjoyed seeing the videos the kids sent in for auditions.
Anyone else noticing people flipping out over episode seven? My home board is acting like this was such a mistake and I don't understand why they think that at all.
I had no issues with it. I definitely see a spinoff coming from it. It's kind of like the Mork from Ork Happy Days episode.
I feel like it had to have a reason. I really thought that her sister would show up in Hawkins or something like that, but maybe it's just a setup for a spinoff or season 3. I don't see putting that much into something for nothing.
Episode 7 was worth it just for the Eleven character development but it sets up some pretty interesting possibilities down the road as well. It was probably my "least favorite" episode but it was still really good
Something else to consider with ep. 7 Spoiler Ep. 7 is where Eleven learns to use anger as a source for her powers. Without that she can't close the gate.
Enjoyed it. Loved Dustin/Steve dialogue. Hated Mike this season. Seemed like he had less screen time. Poor Bob, really wanted him to survive. What I'm intrigued about is if Bill will get with Mrs. Wheeler.
Outrageous season of TV, overall. It's one of those things that actually makes me bitter because on the face of it I'm not supposed to like it - "demogorgons", d&d references, a far too "nice" government conspiracy - but it's so well done that the enjoyment is undeniable. I'm one of the episode 7 "haters". I get what they were doing and why, but it was clunky and with the exception of 8, the characters we were asked to accept were really boring and annoying to me. The casting of Brett Gellman as the conspiracy nut was smart, and that scene where he flays Johnny and Nancy was a fun twist on the cliche "they realize they are supposed to be together" moment. Agree with most that Billy is basically useless. The most puzzling thing about that is that the show gave us a scant moment to appreciate his humanity when he is hit by his dipshit dad, before retiring him for all intents and purposes. The point was? And that moment with Mrs. Wheeler was just weird. I'm assuming they only did it for comedic effect but it still seemed really out of place, like momentarily genre-hopping. Paul Reiser is awfully good at this "sorta villain" thing. I'd argue he does the same in Red Oaks and he's great here. There's a lot of highlights I'd point to, but I'll leave it at that. Well played Duffer Bros.
think episode 7 was doable because its a release all at once show. had that been done in a weekly episode format it would have been shitty hadnt read much on actors personal lives until today learning johnny and nancy date irl he got busted for coke this week (not arrested just detained in airport) hes got a 3yo kid with a very unattractive asian drummer from his band
Loved the premise of other kids with powers from ep7 and I am sure it will play a huge part in the future, but if you binged that and went from the amazing end of ep6 to that there is no way it wasn't a let down
Wasn't a let down for me at all. I enjoyed that episode a ton and even though I had just watched 6 by the time I was really into 7 I forgot about the imminent threat that loomed. Kind of made it better for me when the beginning of episode 8 reminded me of what was going on.
