the funniest part of this to me isn't even that he misspelled Memphis, it's how he wrote the second M. I mean, what the fuck?
This might be my favorite thread. Everything mentioned I agree with save for Bilas and Clayton. This morning on Sportscenter they had a camera following Clemens around as he played in rec league softball game and showed his stats.
It was on that gym this morning while I was on the treadmill. That's the only time I ever watch Sportscenter.
I've made a habit of screenshotting stupid shit on the front page of their website over the years. Most are just editing issues, but still amusing. Spoiler Some are just amusing geography-biased polls.
Fun fact...my old roomate's Aunt used to date Mark May in HS. Used to/still do rip on him constantly that May was railing his Aunt back in the day
Who is more box office: Tim Tebow or Kobe Bryant? Just now on First Take. (I had it on in the background. Shutup)
I'm sure we all remember leading up to the 2005 national championship game when they matched USC against every national champion from previous years and had them beating every one. Then they fucking lose to Texas.
was just trying to find a picture but could only find this... Throughout the season and especially after the win over UCLA, commentators had postulated that the Trojans were one of the "greatest teams of all-time".[9][55][56] ESPN analysts were virtually unanimous in their declaration of the 2005 USC Trojans as the best offense in the history of college football.[55][57] ESPN analysts Mark May and Kirk Herbstreit declared, before the 2005 Rose Bowl had even been played, that the 2005 USC Trojans were the 2nd best college football team of the past 50 years (May placed them behind only 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers; Herbstreit behind only 2001 Miami Hurricanes). Stewart Mandel of Sports Illustrated later observed that, although the team "may have had the greatest set of skill players in history," "ESPN spent the better part of Christmas season comparing that Trojans squad to some of the most acclaimed teams of all time only to find out that they weren’t even the best team that season."[58]
was pretty funny hearing Texas fans chant "Best team ev-er (clap clap clapclapclap)" at the ESPN broadcast after the game
Yep. Getting a lot of the same stuff now. People need to read the thread before posting. Time to think deeper and get creative. No way we've covered everything.
Remember when PTI was actually good, and not just two old guys phoning it in daily, counting the days until retirement? Those were the days.
I hate Chris Berman for so many reasons MARSHALL MARSHALL MARSHALL Calling a home run: backbackbackbackbackbackbackbakdfdjskfsajflsdfjl GOOOOOONNNNNEEEEE the RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAiders The world's reaction to all this? A star in Hollywood, a huge part in the Pro Football HOF cermonies, and the need to have his 3 chins on ESPN at least 10 times a week.
"I'm here with the Jets/Eagles because apparently NY and Philly are the only teams I'm allowed to cover. I have nothing to add here really, but I'm going to keep talking."
Guy knows nothing about the Eagles either. I'm an Eagles fan and hate him. He tries to stir shit up more than anything.
How about their favortism for the properties that they hold the rights for? The Olympics are the biggest sporting event on the planet this year. It's the second strongest brand in the world. It's two weeks of constant news. I understand that NBC doesn't make it easy on competitors, but they give NFL training camp at least equal footing as the freaking Olympics? Fuck you ESPN.
Seriously, who gives 2 fucks about a 50 year old pitching in independent single A. Heard the announcement at the end of SC last night and just wanted to throw my TV out the window. He's a washed up steroid user, fuck him. Yes, I'm kinda mad about it.
The Olympics blow, I don't have a problem with their non-coverage of it. Running NFL training camp "reports" for over half the air-time is retarded though, I can agree with that.
I was a big fan of the movie they threw together about Dale Earnhardt starring Barry Pepper. Classic film-making.
