I've worked on The Jump, First Take and a bunch of other sports shows for ESPN and other networks. Every person on those sets are always so chill. From the cameramen, to the hosts to even the EPs of the show. The only person who I ever hated being around was Michelle Beadle.
And there are multiple people in here that were willing to accept the notion that Taylor got her job because of her skin color but want to make sure every T is crossed and every I is dotted when an accusation is hurled at Nichols. Both are wrong, but it’s interesting how the “got her job for diversity reasons” was accepted as reasonable and the Nichols one is considered a stretch.
I'm not saying I don't get the idea but not used to people casually accepting the transactional nature of all relationships that destroys the social bonds in passing.
I'm not entirely too familiar with Elhassan and Woj's feud but after reading this Elhassan kinda seems to be a lot off base. https://awfulannouncing.com/espn/amin-elhassan-criticisms-adrian-wojnarowski.html
Don't know why Taylor shifted from College Football to nba coverage. Is that a better/higher paying gig or was the plan for her to do both? She killed it with college.
Yes. Every job I've ever gotten was because of who I knew and it's especially true in something like legacy media. Bringing that up isn't inherently misogynistic and frankly it's kind of ridiculous to say you can't question it because they happen to be female. And again we're on this road because Nichols decided we should audit credentials. I have no idea what that Cam Newton story has to do with this.
So, you’re just focusing on the who her husband is thing and not the she never played thing. Both are, and always have been, a way for people to challenge women’s qualifications to be sports journalists.
I've never mentioned anything about her not having played. I don't find that to be a compelling argument for why you can't cover a sport.
You responded to my post saying it was a stretch to call that misogynistic. My entire point has been about Jalen Rose’s daughter making both of those complaints.
next time let me know that you’re responding to three words absent context so I can spare myself the trouble of a response.
??? How is that absence of context? You subtweeted the thread and didn't quote or tag anyone. Maybe be more clear who you're talking to and about
The context of the “who she married” was that it was used along with the fact that she never played to prove her supposed lack of qualifications. You replied to the entire post, of which who she married was a small portion of the point. I don’t think I subtweeted anyone. I responded to the Jalen Rose daughter rant.
Way, way off topic here, but does anyone else ever have issues getting ESPN+ stories on their laptop? I've never had an issue, but for several weeks now every ESPN+ story I open on my home or work laptop tells me to log in, and then does nothing when I do that. It works when I read them on my phone, but not on either laptop.
Gonna tell my buddy this. Finally a first hand account from an internet acquaintance that confirms our hate for her.
I mean we could all be lying about everything for all I know pperc has been playing doctor for the past 15 months
Had that issue a couple weeks ago and had to use their chat support. They cleared something on their end that fixed it
Jalen Rose has some pretty bad comments himself. Don’t get why he’s getting a free pass, let alone his daughter.
How I know this story has gotten to a point where I'm just going to enjoy the spectacle instead of thinking too much about it anymore... "Jalen Rose's daughter" has a TikTok video that has gone viral for, among other things, pointing out how Nichols has benefited from nepotism. That's kind of funny.
