Wife has inherited land with her 4 brothers. Basically nothing positive has happened with that land since I have known her, 10+ years. Over 10 acres, two run down houses on it. Her parents will hasnt even been probated yet It has caused multiple arguments and heartaches between siblings over the years. At the very least when property taxes come due BiL's wives get into the argument too which just exacerbates the whole thing When I first learned of the situation over 10 years ago, I told her and a couple of the BIL's that I have seen this several times with friends in similar situations and the only way it ever gets solved and families can stop arguing about it and get back to being a family, is for it to just all be sold and money evenly split Same argument started yesterday and I heard about it for way too long last night. All I could think of was the nail in the head video
I see this all the time with my job. Only solutions: - Sell it and split proceeds - Appraise It with two uninterested third parties and have one sibling buy everyone out - divide the 10 acres into two acre tracts and pull out of a hat which two acres everyone gets - buy some tigers and start a tiger farm
We have a similar situation, the big difference being that it is productive farmland that is just leased and her and her brother split the profits every year. But, she is insistent that the property is never owned by someone outside the family. She gets tied emotionally to stuff like that. So I foresee a giant clusterfuck in the future for sure.
there’s a giant old plantation looking house behind my grandmother’s that has sat empty for 25 years and has started to fall apart due to a similar situation. Twelve acres of land that has basically turned to wilderness. Five family members own it and they’ve never all agreed to sell. Once beautiful estate now being taken over by nature. We used to explore it when I was a kid and all the law books (was a judge’s home) and furniture are still in the house. They finally boarded it all up about ten years ago due to homeless living in it
My wife will forget entire movies that we watch together but seems to get irritated if I forget some minor conversation we had weeks ago
My wife and her sister have started to spend tons of time at their parents house. Like every night. I like them a lot but me and my BIL are elected to come there. I guess it’s a safety feeling thing as it ramped up during the Covid crisis. I’m just biting the bullet and walking down there for an hour a night since my FIL is paying for and building me a carport. Deep down I think he is frustrated that his daughters are there every night but afraid to say something.
I went through the "Remind me what that was again"/"You never listen to me" phase of the marriage, but have now entered the much more harmonious just pretend like I know what that is phase.
Me: What is this $80 charge from Sun Basket? Her: I ordered some food to make dinner with next week. Me: How many dinners do we get for $80? Her: One...but I used a 25% off coupon so it should have been $100. Me: For one dinner? That we have to cook? Her: I thought it would be fun cooking dinner as a family with food that was delivered. Me: We’ve literally cooked dinner as a family for ten weeks straight. At least spend $100 on some takeout. This quarantine has really been great on the finances, but my wife is now figuring out ways to waste money under the guise of being responsible.
Apparently it’s for some cheesesteak skillet with sides. She also ordered some breakfast food so I guess it’s not just one meal. Still...that much money for a dinner + breakfast that we have to cook ourselves is absurd. Spoiler I shouldn’t criticize too much because I spent $500 on booze last week.
My wife has spent an ungodly amount of money on “Matilda Jane” clothes for our daughter at least you get to eat presumably good food
If this company is like the one we order by mistake every 6 months, you definitely over pay a little but the quality is very very good. Almost everything comes in sous vide so you have a week or so. And everything is perfectly packaged with just the right amount, all you need to do is some cutting and cooking. and after reading that spoiler you are lucky she did not spend that money on Pinterest projects
Is it bad that we have a year old daughter and I immediately looked up that clothing company to see if they had a good 2T line? I have been defeated.
I don't know if this is a stupid thing, but cutting off our kid's access to a pacifier sure feels like it right now
My wife has been on a Law & Order SVU kick. Noticed on my credit card that after she plowed through all of the seasons available on Prime for free she started buying them on Prime for $30-$40 a piece. We also have Hulu, which has all 21 seasons available commercial-free as part of our subscription.
I can't argue with that logic. Plus right now I'm getting double Amex points for all Amazon purchases so we have that going for us
similar thing happened with my mom and her two sisters. grandparents died and had no will. two wanted to keep the property and the one who wanted to sell took them to court over it. a bunch of wasted time and money later, the one who wanted to sell got paid for 1/3 of the value. the two who wanted to keep the land haven't spoken to the 3rd in almost 10 years.
Everyone likes to think they and their siblings can handle things in a civil manner but from my observations that's a 50/50 gamble at best.
With meal planning our grocery bill is about $250 for 7-10 days of meals. Fuck 100$ for a frozen dinner.
*bitching about her period* "And your mom's came today too! How does that even happen??" Not sure if she's actually amazed that two different females in the world are having their period at the same time or if it's a menopause joke. Not even gonna sit and ponder why she knows this or why she felt the need to inform me of it.
was just reading relationship thread and meant to post in there, but yes, it seems every girl has a friend or 2 that are hell bent on upsetting the waters.
need you all to settle some shit. what is a chili dog? a) a traditional hotdog with chili added to the top. probably some additional accoutrements. b) an empty hotdog bun filled with chili. no wiener. additional accoutrements but def no wiener. my wife and her family amaze me
There was a hotdog place in clemson that gave you b when you asked for that and it was stupid as fuck
already hated this place but knowing they are the source of a years-long disagreement is just... fuck.
oh it’s real and it’s maddening to make it worse- the place that has indoctrinated them into peddling this bullshit serves the most generic boiled hotdogs and it’s the only place they’ll eat hotdogs from. like I can’t even pick up some nice wieners and grill em up real nice and get cunty with the fixins. nope- they require these vanilla ass boiled hotdogs. sometimes they opt for the “chili” dog which is a generic bun stuffed to the brim with just chili
imagine this place. you walk in and order a chili dog and a coke and they give you a microwaved bun with chili and a pepsi. everyone around you thinks this is normal.
