I feel like if you are dating more than 3 years its a little more than a girlfriend but what do I know
One of my gfs that is a really good looking bottle service girl just got dumped by her boyfriend of 14 years. I have no idea how dude got away without proposing for that long.
Maybe it's the Southeast U.S. - man my ex was getting heavy and extremely annoying pressure from her entire friend and family network for us to get engaged at like age 22 after 3 years of off-and-on dating.
I get the logistics of it - but a relationship where her friends and family pretty much hate you can dramatically interfere with life enjoyment - and that pressure starts building basically upon Ole Miss graduation.
it’s definitely a cultural thing, it’s not a big deal up here, I have many friends that are not married and have multiple kids. I also have another friend who met a girl from colombia studying here and the pressure was real for him to marry her. He had to do it very quickly once they found out she was pregnant and before marriage when he went over there to visit he could not sleep in the same bed with her.
You sound like a 19 year old. If you give a shit about this girl then you have to bear spending time with her family. If you can't stomach a vacation with her direct family after 3 years than you should do her a favor and end it.
And you never know. They might surprise you. I went with my then GF to stay with her family in Richmond for Christmas. I was dreading it. First night her cousin pulls out a huge bag of blow. Best Christmas ever.
Gotcha. Don’t think I’ve ever heard a straight guy use “girlfriend” in that context. You’re the first. But you’re right, not proposing for 14 years is wild. That’s common-law married twice over in the states that recognize it.
Spend most of the time with gf and the father. Make excuses to get out of the house and leave her mom/sister at home.. If have to see them then have a drink in your hand.
Also take your lumps now, because going on vacation with the in-laws when you have kids is one of the greatest things in the world. It's like the only chance you'll get at a real vacation for many years.
She constantly puts the kid's clothes inside out into the washer/dryer. Turn that shit the right way before washing/drying. Pain in the ass doing it when folding.
AubCabs and CUgator thank you both for thinking of me The Hebrew Husker regardless of anyones opinion here you will forever be the asshole for poking holes in every logistical plan for the next 20 years to the same vacation. That being said I’ll buy you a drink if you are in Myrtle Beach when we go every year. and since I was called out. Here’s the latest. I just booked my flights round trip for just about $250 each for my family of 3. FiL said he wants to fly this year. At probably $6+ a gallon by then because he can’t put low grade in he puts on about 1500 miles that week. Won’t fly because he claims my sister in law and her husband can’t afford it (two incomes no kids). Got the same shitty ass condo again, always the hottest week of the year, miss out on a nice northeastern summer week, rinse and repeat.
Wife can’t find her wedding rings. Was supposed to be at a uhaul place this morning at 7 to have a hitch installed. I walk upstairs a little after 7 to see her sitting in the car. Comes back inside and has been frantically throwing shit around for the last hour. now she’s running the vacuum for some reason.
Let me preface that I absolutely adore my MiL. She is great. went in a beach vacation with the in-laws and she has a sub with a push button start. Well she kept it in her pocket and my FiL drove a bunch which lead to a couple times her leaving the car unlocked bc we dropped off the girls on our way to eat for stuff. No real harm. Fast foward ti our last day there they took my MiL car to the beach while my fFiL packed the cars up. My wife, son and I leave to head home before them bc we had to get our dogs. We get about 1 hour away from the beach and get a call that my MiL keys were in my wife beach bag. Turns out she put them in there when they went to beach and she never got them out. We had to turn around and drive back to give them their keys. I wasn’t too happy but we missed a bad wreck near Orlando by an hour so gonna just chalk it up as divine intervention or soemthing
