Yeah throw the flag and do the 15 but I don't think most guys are trying to do it. Just seems ridiculous to me
It needs to be around for really egregious and dangerous hits but shit like that shouldn’t be an ejection. I expect next year they will have both versions.
If there’s intent, eject them. Otherwise 15 yards. It’s not hard and I’d say 60% of targetings are caused by the offensive player changing their trajectory after a defender has already committed.
The automatic ejection does. A blatant malicious targeting, which that hit was not, should still be an ejection.
Smoke needs to be smarter than that. It was pretty much a textbook example of exactly what the rule was made for.
Yeah I mean you're running full speed at a guy, he ducks at the last minute and now you've been kicked out of the game.
There should be levels. Some targeting, though not as common now, still deserve ejections. Cine against Pitts last year being an example.
That was a normal play. The hole lead with your shoulder is fucking stupid bc literally your head is a foot in front of your shoulder
It really was and he was ejected last year for the exact same thing, Smoke is like Auburn's Skalski, without the Ku Klux vibes.
I mean if you don't lower your head it's not getting called. Doesn't matter that offensive player is moving if you don't use your head as a weapon. I do agree there has to be something better than the zero tolerance method as it is.
Yeah, it’s a textbook example of what they’re trying to eliminate. It’s just a bullshit election. Might as well eject people for horse collars while we’re at it.
It’s amazing that Bo Nix has shown zero development in 3 years. Always be wary of QB coach’s sons, they often are maxed out early.
I thought that throw to 84 was a lot longer but that reverse angle really put into perspective SB4's noodle arm
No he can be magical on some plays, then turns around and does that. Plus the aforementioned noodle arm that can work against some defenses, but it's an automatic int vs top end defenses.
