Who do you have in your pools this week. It's a pretty rought slate of games. Not a lot of slam dunks and a lot of favorites playing on the road. I have 2 pools and I'm going with what I think is a safe pick with the Chargers in 1 and going with the Jags at home against the Broncos in the 2nd. What are you doing?
Would not consider the Jags a safe pick. My strategy is go for the obvious winners early and if I can get an average team with an auto win then I'll take them over a good team. Only done it twice and got to week 13 and week 10. Titans are my pick this week. Bears are another but I could see the Lions beating them. Don't see either of your plays as clear winners. Chargers on the road at night and Jags suck.
I don't see the Titans or Bears as safe either. That's the point there aren't really any slam dunks on the schedule and the teams that have the highest probability of winning are almost all on the road.
I don't know. Titans at home vs Raiders and Jason Campbell in his 15th different offense in the last 10 years. I think it's the safest out there. Then again I lose money betting nfl. Giants are actually the highest spread of the weekend and fuck if I trust them.
49ers, Titans, and Cowboys....hate taking division games, esp on the road, but week 1 is totally fucked....I think the Niners go big this year though and I have no faith in Petey turning the hawks around
I'm prob gonna go with the Giants at home against Carolina. This is a tough week though. I also thought about taking either Tennessee or San Diego, maybe San Francisco. Week 2 I was thinking Packers. Last night I put every teams schedule into Excel. If you guys want it I'd be happy to email it to you. I think (hope) it will help me plan out the year. I've highlighted games which there is no way I'd want to pick and some other games that should be easy wins. You can obviously adjust it how you like.
I really have a strong feeling that the Giants could suck really bad this year so I'm afraid to take them.
I hate Week 1. I went with Chicago - the Lions on the road are worthy. Really sucks that Cleveland and Tampa are playing each other. Was thinking of the Niners over Seattle, but Bears at home > Niners on the road. I hate opening weekend.
San Fran, Atlanta, and the Colts knocked out almost 9% of the pool. Fucking bullshit call in the Lions game saved over 13%. :curses:
Yeah, I couldn't pull the trigger on the Giants at all the way DeAngelo and Stewart ran a train on them at the end of last year.
The league that I'm in is its first year, so we only have 17 people. 6 got eliminated last week. So is green bay the obvious choice this week? Maybe at Atlanta?
Heres a strategy: Look whoever is playing Buffalo or Cleveland and pick what team is better. I am a Bills fan and we won't a game the rest of the year
I woudn't say they are the ONLY pick. Vikings, Ravens, and Chargers all look pretty good for week 3 as well.
Ravens were my pick today and survived despite the late scare. Looking ahead to next week I think it will come down to the Saints or Falcons for me. I've used the Packers already otherwise they'd certainly be on my list. I'm sure the Jets will be picked by a lot of people but no matter how bad Buffalo is I don't trust the Jets enough in a division game on the road. I'll probably play it safe and go with the Saints since the Panthers are less likely to pull an upset on the road than the 49ers imv.
Next week I think the best picks are San Diego at home, Tennessee at home, and Green Bay at home. I've already used Green Bay and they may have Monday night hangover but will beat Detroit at home. Tennessee gets a West coast opponent at 1 that sucks on the road. They are winning. San Diego will smash Arizona. Glad I got New England out. Don't trust that defense at all. It's pretty bad.
So far for me I've used -Titans -Green Bay -NE Last two were exclusively because they were playing the Bills, which seems like a winning strategy this year. Next week I would feel comfortable with Jets, Saints, or Chargers. I'll probably go with SD at home.
So who's it going to be this week guys? These are the most popular picks according to Vegas Watch I'm going Atlanta over San Fran. Fired offensive coordinator and traveling all the way across the country for a 1:00 est start to face a team that just won at New Orleans.
Bengals will be my pick for week 5 at home against Tampa. I also looked at the Colts and Ravens but decided both those teams are best to be saved for later in the season. Bengals coming off a bad loss should be a safe choice at home. Only thing I don't like about it is Tampa coming off the bye but they blow so it shouldn't be enough to talk me off of them.
Bengals, Colts, and Chargers should all be good. I would like the Bears too but not if Todd Collins is starting.
having trouble deciding between indy and cincy. i think baltimore is a safe pick too, but saving them for week 7 (buffalo) or week 12 (tampa). cincy would be a good pick in week 11 or 15. i agree with aero in that i can't see cincy losing this week coming off a loss. same with indy. i'll prob go with cincy. don't want to get snake bit by kc pulling a punt return or kickoff return for td that wins the game or some shit like that.
I took the Jags this week :dre: still going All the games next week kind of scare me except San Diego-St Louis and Giants-Lions think I'm going with giants over the lions
I might be jumping back in this thread. The website I do mine on has a Mid Season Game. Same rules as the normal one only you have to pick 2 winners in the final 3 weeks of the season if you get that far.
bump. After a crazy first 3 weeks, out of 78 people at $100, pool I'm in is down to 14. Went Texans, Bengals, Bears for Weeks 1-3. Who's everyone got Week 4? Leaning towards easy Ravens pick, but Denver over Oakland has me thinking.
I lost last week with New Orleans. We had a 150 people at $200 and are now down to 7. Fucking New Orleans. There are so many scary games this week. Honestly the only game I like is Baltimore. Oakland looked half way decent last game. Atlanta is another one. I am high on ATL this year but Carolina could put up a fight. Houston scares me with Tennessee looking decent last week just like the Oak/Den game.
By some small miracle, I'm still alive in both. I use beyondthebets and teamrankings to help narrow plays. The one i'm in had 18,000 people. Down to 1800. First 3 weeks, you can't use the two highest spreads. Next 3 weeks, can't use the three highest spreads. And so on. You can use teams more than once. I'm hoping I last long enough to sell my log in enough for $1k or more.
I actually won my pool last week. It was a very small one though. I got eliminated from the other pool I was in by the NE loss to arizona. In that pool, they had it set up to where you had to make the pick before the first game of the week (thursday) even if you didn't pick that game. So, of course I made a last minute pick of NE without doing any research. I knew it would be the most picked game which made me nervous. I would have picked Cincy in that one if I would have had more time to think. I took Miami in week 2 of the pool that I won. Oh well. Still won $140 but yes, baltimore is the easy pick here
I've actually got a Excel spreadsheet of every team's schedule if anyone wants me to email it to them. I used it to help me plan each week and future weeks.
