MCL injury for Bartley. Out for at least 2 months. Which sucks because I was starting to like the idea of 3 across the back.
I'll take it. It was a nice goal, but damn that was a pretty brutal half. So much back passing. Looked like there were plenty of opportunities if they pushed forward down the left side, but Carroll and Olsson couldn't make it happen.
Missing today's game as I have company over and it's fucking killing me. Honestly can't remember the last match I didn't watch that had tv coverage
Fucking Huw and team putting in work to end this window. If we pull off Chadli, Arias and Bony after bringing in Clucas and Sanches..... I'll cum buckets.
What a fucking window for the club. I'm super optimistic right now about this team and what Clement will be able to do. If you told me we would bring in Abraham, Mesa, Clucas, Sanches, Bony I'd never believe you. I wish we had Gylfi and Cork. But we were never keeping Gylfi forever but the Cork deal makes no sense to me unless Clement really just didn't see him in his plans.
Cork has slipped down the preferred midfielder list behind Carroll, Fer, Britton, and Ki. Adding Mesa to theist made minutes for him difficult to come by. I still liked him but he had become a sub to Clement. I still would have like to add Chadli but overall optimistic despite losing all of last season's goals.
Apparently we were going to add Andy Yiadom yesterday too, but the FA said the paperwork was too late. That would have made me feel better about things. Likely we'll add him or another defender in January
The 25 man roster (Home grown in bold): Ayew, Jordan Baker-Richardson, Courtney Bartley, Kyle Bony, Wilfried Britton, Leon Carroll, Thomas Clucas, Samuel Dyer, Nathan Fabianski, Lukasz Fer, Leroy Fernandez, Federico Fulton, Jay Gorre, Kenji Ki, Sung Yueng King, Adam Mawson, Alfie Mesa Quevedo, Roque Mulder, Erwin Narsingh, Luciano Naughton, Kyle Nordfeldt, Bo Kristoffer Olsson, Martin Routledge, Wayne Van Der Hoorn, Mike Zaragoza, Angel Rangel
And the McBurnie loan was rejected by the EFL. I'm blaming Barnsley. That's two loan deals with them that fell apart on deadline day.
Not the worst half but was extremely frustrating. Sanches obviously has a ton of talent but holy fuck not the greatest debut for the youngster. Ready to see Bony come on and score some goals for Swansea so I can go wild
What a shit showing at home. Don't think Newcastle are a bad squad but you have to get those points at home.
Their center back made his free header off a corner and ours didn't. Other than that we were the better team, but we are struggling to put anything in the back of the net right now. I wish we had completed all of the transfer business before the season started so we wouldn't still be weeks away from having a team that works together.
good game friends. You guys will be alright once Bony gets fitness back and Sanches gets it figure out.
So fucking frustrating. Terrible first half. Go in 1 down. Second half come back and level. Dominate possession can’t get a second one to fall. Cheap giveaway in the dying minutes to lose it. Mesa helped turn things around when he came on at the half, but he was the one that gave the ball away to lose the game. Ayew at the top of the diamond with Bony and Abraham up front seemed to work too. Paul may have found something here despite the bad result. Olsson needs to get better though.
Frustrating loss, but better play again. Great turn and finish by Mawson in that corner. Dyer needs to replace Narsingh. He’s smaller but more effective
Bony with good hold up play. Olsson getting forward well. Ayew, Ki, Naughton all putting in great effort. They need to be more aggressive at getting the ball back in midfield but the quick whistle this ref is giving is killing us right now.
So frustrating. This was always going to be bad with the loan rules preventing Abraham from playing, but zero shots on target is rough. Bony with fantastic hold up play, but getting anybody to get him the ball in the box seems impossible. Really miss Montero's attacking down the sideline. We have nobody willing (able?) to drive to the touch line to win corners, crosses. Maybe Dyer needs to see more time? I don't know, it's just pathetic the lack of opportunities being created right now.
Frustrating game. They never looked to be a threat for the first 30 minutes. Then two mistakes result in two goals. We need to be able to capitalize like that.
