Bony smashed a ball in the 6 yard box through a crowd of people without hitting any of them to score the only goal. Abraham had a 2-0 breakaway and managed to push the ball wide instead of scoring in the final minutes to ice the game. Still a huge 3 points.
Carlos should retire undefeated now. Pretty awful play for most of the game, but the team actually seemed to try once Dyer came in. Two quality goals get 3 needed points. I’ll take them gladly and move on, but we need to play more aggressively early on in games. Maybe we won’t take the first 85 minutes off Tuesday.
Playing defense can work I guess. Three huge points against a top team are going to mean a lot when in the relegation fight.
Roque Mesa sent out on loan. Rumors of bringing back Andre Ayew seem odd to me. We need midfielders and fullbacks and wingers
Well that’s 2 HUGE wins against Liverpool and Arsenal to climb out of the basement. And the Swans were clearly the better team tonight. That was a much deserved three points. Maybe Clucas is the reason we don’t need to shop for a midfielder. And Dyer has been really good during this stretch too. We might be able to stay up.
I was debating on whether to post or not again in this thread after the success of January. But fuck it. I like bringing Ayew back to play with his brother, think that will work very well together. I'm not sure on Andy King though when we already have a ton of midfielders already in similar molds.
I am not sure about Andre. If you put him in the Fer role maybe it works. I just don’t see where he fits in. Maybe for Dyer, but Dyer has been pretty good, Andre doesn’t stay wide, and Dyer is faster. Maybe Jordan gets pushed wide? I don’t know. Also King seems like he was brought as competition for that attacking midfielder role. Depth/improvement at fullback would seem to be the area we really need help with. Also, I like it when I don’t have to talk to myself.
I was really hoping for full back help on the left side. That seemed to make the most sense. I do think Ayew will play central in more of the Siggy role as a creator. Regardless hell of a job by the new gaffer but can we just keep our form for more than half a season?
An important point away, but pretty uninspiring. Just a really lazy first half and then shutting it down the last 15 minutes to preserve the point. Dyer was not as good as he has been. Neither was Ayew. I think Bony may have injured his hamstring again because he wasn't as involved in the hold up play as he normally is. Also, we just need to be more aggressive about getting the ball back in our own half. Still, the weekend will end with us out of the relegation zone
So Fer tore his Achilles and Bony tore his ACL. Bony is a tough guy though. He tore his ACL almost immediately after coming on, but kept playing for the next 20 minutes. Both guys are (obviously) gone for the season, so the Ayew and King signings look really important now.
I know it doesnt mean a whole lot but really hope we don't fizzle out of the cup tonight. Would love to see a cup run and a run up the table to really turn this shit show around. Swans need some excitement for sure that isn't a god damn relagation battle.
It’d be nice, but I won’t complain if the starters don’t see much time. We can’t really absorb many more injuries.
2 goals a piece for Tammy and Dyer. If they can avoid shutting it down and getting lazy like they did to let in that goal, we should be through.
Pretty important match today with Burnley imo. They haven't won a match since Dec 12th. Although they did draw with Utd and City during that stretch. Just feels like not getting three points at home will be a bit of a let down with the current form.
Just a really physical first half. I think the ref has to tighten things up a bit. Everyone just seems a bit hesitant so far.
Some nervous moments there but no actual threat by Burnley for most of the game. Really solid defensive effort even if took until the second half before they really committed to pressing the offense.
14 points from the last 7 games is incredible. If Newcastle and Southampton both win tomorrow though, we’ll still be in 17th.
Another replay during a relegation fight. Ugh lol however I would love to see us make the quarters or further especially if we can stay up again this year.
Important to get a result today. Feel like you can say that every weekend of course. Brighton getting behind or threatening the back line often since I've turned it on.
What a difference a week makes. Bit of a letdown to lose the clean sheet but we jumped up to 13 in the table with that win (Newcastle and Crystal Palace games pending). We’ll finish the weekend out of the relegation zone again. Which is nice.
Currently sitting 13th...What a crazy thing to type with how the past few years have gone. Really good performance yesterday. Carlos Carvahals Rock N Roll Football is working wonders for us.
