8th place is still the highest we've been. Europa would have been nice as it would have forced the club to improve depth. The first 11 are competitive with anyone (but Chelsea) but it drops off a cliff pretty quickly. Next season is huge for every team to get to that big TV payout in 2016/2017.
So I know its kind of lame but today I wore my Swansea shirt out to a local pub. There were about 8 English gentlemen. Half from Essex the other from Bromley. They picked out my Swansea shirt quickly and we talked about the season and the success. All of them but two were Chelsea supporters the other two didn't care for soccer but Rugby was their choice. Commented on the Ospreys which thankfully I've learned about and seen on TV. It was a crazy experiences actually talking to people who were at the match when Chelsea won the league and that knew what they we're talking about. They certainly were shocked to see an American Swan. One of the best chats I have had with strangers and was awesome to hear that they all said they were cheering for the US in the world cup and were disappointed to see us lose but so excited about the game. They all agreed that if the US put effort into Rugby they would be the beat in the world and quickly. However thought soccer was about 12-16 years away depending on how many Americans play in euro leagues. They were pretty down on MLS but agreed Gerrard and Lampard and Keane etc made it easier for Americans to relate to what British and others in Europe related to. Overall just an awesome few hours talking to strangers. Tldr- H/T hangs out with the British.
Good year lads....Time for summer and the transfer window. Curious to see who gets lured away from the Liberty but equally curious to see what Monk and Huw bring in. Bring on the rumors!
Today's news: Luc Castaignos isn't going to happen Link Neither is the tournament in Dallas Link FourFourTwo name Fabianski Goal keeper of the year Link Ash, Taylor, and Jazz will represent Wales against Belgium Link ESPNFC ranks Gylfi the 43rd best player in BPL Link
Yep saw the Dallas news this morning. Pretty big let down for me as I was dead set on going and just had vacation time for those dates approved. In my industry getting July time off is pretty rare too. Certainly still very willing to travel somewhere else in the US or Canada or Mexico but that's pretty unlikely. I'm guess we go to Asia.
Today's news: U-21 striker Demetriou arrested for gambling. (Link) Alan Tate & Gerhard Tremmel let go. (Link) Fernandez didn't make Argentina's Copa America team. (Link) Tom Carroll wants to play for Tottenham. (Link) Swansea and Barrow like each other. (I like him too) Leighton James speculates on Gomis' future. (Tottenham?)
Looks like our first summer signing may be Ola John from Benfica. Strange though because from what I've seen he plays on the left wing and with Routledge and Montero out there I'm not sure how to take it. Think were close on Tabanou as well which will be a great signing for us.
Neil Taylor signed a new year 4 deal. Tabanou looks closer and closer. Leon Britton looking to make a possible move to MLS.
Taffy friend recommended Hinterland to me. On the first episode but so far so good. I guess you'd know it as Y Gwyll, curious if you have watched?
I've never seen it, plot looks good though. Let me know if it's worth a watch. Did you see Twin Town yet?
Taffy I haven't seen it yet. Maybe I need to find it tonight. Also FactsRule I am fine with that being the new home kit. Hope youre ready to see the blue and green away kit.
I like the copper I really do but I want to see the away kit. The blue and green rumor intrigues me as it can be great or hideous. Not sure if I'm going to purchase the home kit today but I'm tempted to. Very tempted to.
Yeah I have my 2014-2015 I can continue to wear so I'm good if they do I'll just have to wait it out.
We got Ayew which is just a great signing for us and a great start to the summer transfer period. The guy that spent last winter wanting to leave Swansea convinced him to come to Swansea. Thanks Bafe
Supposedly per BBC the Tabanou fee has been agreed to. That should be the next signing this summer. Jazz looks to be headed to Fulham.
Always nice to get a good signing on a free transfer. It will be interesting to see what this means for the other guys up front - particularly Dyer. I feel like Barrow has earned more minutes. So has Montero and Routledge was cery solid prior to ther injury. It's starting to get pretty crowded up there.
Like the new thread title. Think Dyer is going to be pushed out. Barrow still needs more PL football for me to make a judgment on him but at the end of the year he was playing great.
Could this be the away top? The Swansea Way is reporting this to be it. Thoughts? I think I do like it.
Jus added 2 Americans to the Swansea fanbase mates. All is well for Welshs only premier league team. I also told a English wanker that the welsh are the better football association and that they should just stop playing around.
Will be a fun August with Chelsea and Man Utd in the first month. Hopefully we dont need points on the last day of the year either.
I personally just don't see it happening. We are stocked with English youth at the moment, and with Eriksen he doesn't exactly fill a huge position of need.
I like this signing, but I am not a fan of the rumored Oliveira loan extension. I really do not want that to happen.
Yeah I love the Ayew and Tabanou signings to start the summer but to have Oliveira back even has a third option is something I don't want to see. Just doesn't fit what we are trying to do. Id rather take a flyer on someone off everyone's radar than watch Oliveira lose ever 50/50 again.
Swans sign goalkeeper Nordfeldt Spoiler Swedish international goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt has joined Swansea City after completing his move from Dutch side Heerenveen for an undisclosed fee. Nordfeldt, who turned 26 today, has signed a three-year contract after undergoing a successful medical. The five-cap international will compete with Lukasz Fabianski for the goalkeeper position at the Liberty, with the Swans having seen Gerhard Tremmel and David Cornell leave the club this summer. Nordfeldt becomes Garry Monk’s third signing this month, with forward Andre Ayew and left-back Franck Tabanou having bolstered the squad following their moves from Marseille and St Etienne. Nordfeldt started his career with Brommapojkarna, for whom he made well over 100 appearances in both the Swedish top flight and second tier. His impressive performances caught the attention of a number of clubs around Europe, with Nordfeldt joining Dutch top-flight club Heerenveen in 2012. He featured over 100 times for De Superfriezen, helping them reach the Eredivisie play-offs for Europa League qualification in each of his three seasons at the club. Signed our backup keeper. Also apparently going to add Lara (18 year old goalkeeper from Barcelona) to the U21 squad. With a new goalkeeper coach, Fabianski becomes the only holdover from last season from that position group.
Not horrible signings by any means. The only position we need help is Striker at this point. That is assuming we keep everyone else in Swansea
