Pretty poor showing by the manager today. He played that first half with intent to just get a single point today against the bottom team. Bartley was awful in relief of the injured Van der Hoorn leading to the west Brom goal. Abraham has way too heavy a first touch to be any kind of hold up player, but he was strong in fighting for the equalizer. And Andre blowing that first half chance is a killer.
Probably should have been 3 points. I don’t get why Carlos loves Dyer so much. I thought Naraingh did some good things.
Wilf gonna be gone this summer. One of the reasons I hate how we always tend to bring back players who have done well for us in the past because it never works out the same. But give me Gylfi back any day tho.
Bony has such a soft first touch and is easily our best forward at hold up play. He's probably our best passing forward too. Carlos seems to want forwards that can win with the dribble though and that he is not the best at. Tammy needs to learn from Wilf how to not have such a heavy first touch and get better at hold up play (not that he'll be sticking around either). That's what's really missing from his game.
Sucks that none of those chances found the back of the net. It was really really weird to see Chelsea park the bus against us on the second half, though.
Incredibly disappointing result. Couldn’t get anything from the early opportunities and then just fizzled out. We need a complete overhaul if we do manage to stay up. Need to get faster at like every position.
Not a huge fan of this 11 in a must win but we are at the Liberty so let's get this. C'mon you swans!
Need 2 Huddersfield losses and a win Sunday to avoid relegation. Just an epic collapse down the stretch. Terrible.
The team needed to be completely blown up. Getting relegated may be the only way we could make that happen. Just need to make sure we get the most money possible when we sell Mawson.
At least we will get to see a ton of games in the championship but unfortunately I don't see a bounce right back up year
Didn't ESPN just get coverage plus the EFL started a streaming service for all matches correct? Maybe I'm wrong.
Dang. You are right. ESPN3 (so streaming service) and something called ifollow as a separate subscription service. Okay. So it will be possible to watch. I still wish I didn’t have to learn that.
Man what a shitty feeling today. Ugh heartbroken for Fabianski and some others but we just weren't good enough again this year. Hopefully we blow it up and can make it back up next year and not be like Sunderland.
Well Oli fucking killed it for Barnsley with 9 goals in 16 starts. Hopefully we can hold off clubs for him with one year left. Connor Roberts will be a mainstay Im sure. In no order or proper sentence structure... Ki is gone as is Fab Im sure. We will get a nice payday from Mawson :(. Andre Ayew will probably have more interest and wont stay. Jordan had some good performances so hes likely gone but possibly could hold onto him. Fer will stay. Bony is gone. I think Naughton will possibly stay but may go to a newly promoted or small market team looking for experience. Olssen will stay as will VdH and we bring Bartley back from loan who did well in the Championship this year. Not sure what to make of Fernandez, love him but I think we need to sell and bring on youth. Clucas and Carroll will stay and be a good combo in the Championship for us and we will bring back Grimes who wasn't shit this year on loan. Narsingh could play a role but probably gone. Love Dyer but can we please move on from he and Routs. Borja and Mesa technically could come back but I see no reason why they would. Nordfelt will be the number 1 next year and should be good enough for a promotion run if we can find help. idk fuck I just want to ramble on and be excited for maybe the overhaul weve needed but the Chamoionship is brutal and its going to be a long offseason with no USA in the world cup to truly take my mind off the upcoming PL season.
So I feel a bit silly saying this but if the trust can get Huw to step down and with the right hire. I wonder if the Americans will throw money back into the club. As we've seen they have literally spent very little in investment but they have to know that their money will be made in the Premiership and not the Championship. If all of that can happen, id be giddy as fuck to see Swansea back to being Swansea even if it takes a year or three to get back up. Obviously would love to bounce back up immediately but idk if that's going to be likely yet.
Speaking of managers here's the shortlist....thoughts or favorite? Graham Potter- this is probably who I want to see get the job. Young up and coming. Chris Coleman- no thanks and doesn't match our style of play at all. Dean Smith- would be okay with Smith. Nathan Jones- would be excited by this hire. Michael Laudrup- interesting but I don't think he comes back unless Huw is gone. Carl Robinson- MLS experience doesn't equate to Championship experience. Chris Wilder- prefer we stay younger with someone who is up and coming with a bit of positive experience. Cameron Toshak- very very good with our youth and a lot of those coming up to the first team. Leon Britton- not ready yet and plans to take a year off. Jaap Stam- nah
I was looking at this list yesterday (from the BBC I think) and I couldn't understand how Laudrup was on it. Maybe he has a new agent but shit was bad between him and the club the summer before his last season here. Even if Huw leaves, I imagine he tries to get a new manager in before he does. Potter and Toshak would be interesting. Britts is great but I don't want him to be the boss right now.
Looks like Grahm Potter will be the guy next year. So far so good, now if only we can see some positive recruitment.
Yeah. I like the move for Potter but it doesn’t matter if we don’t get new bodies in too. I am desperately hoping for a roster make over and quick bounce back up to the Premier League.
Fixtures are out. We open up at Wednesday and then have our home opener the following week against Preston North End and then a match with Garry Monk. Should be a fun start. Wednesday match will be shown in the states at 1230est since it's the 530 match over there.
and O's fan so I do appreciate the color scheme. Been looking for the Orange kit from years ago as well.
The logic is just so big. Scale it down so it’s not as wide and it doesn’t seem so ridiculous. It’s turning a white and black shirt blue
Boo. I don’t know what we are doing with the squad this summer but I guess the World Cup screws up a lot of recruitment.
Weird that we haven’t seen more movement in and out but true about World Cup years, always seems like things happen so much later. Only issue is and I may be wrong but I don’t think we have all that much more time.
Interesting to read that we have sacked our entire scouting department and will be letting Graham and his lads from Ostersunds have full control over recruitment and scouting.
I saw the Curtis news but I hadn’t seen the scouting stuff yet. I think it’s a good idea. Something had clearly gone wrong with recruitment of late. This gives the new manager the ability to get the players he needs to do what he wants on the field. If you have faith in him being the guy to turn things around, then go all in. It may not work, but at least we’re trying.
Yeah I was a co founder last summer with Marc and Jon. Good group of guys running it but life got too busy for me to keep up with the meetings and shit with a new job change and divorce and move I was like I need to step out of a leadership role. But I'm extremely happy to see a lot of the things that we had on the table are coming to fruition.
