Wasn’t his tweets about Fields and how Martell told reporters he wasn’t going anywhere towards the end of the season? It appears former Ohio State quarterback Tate Martell's departure to the University of Miami earlier this spring worked out for both parties. According to ESPN's Andrea Adelson, who recently interviewed Martell for a wide-ranging feature heading into summer, the Buckeyes initiated talks after the season that it would be in the quarterback's best interest to look elsewhere prior to conversations heating up with Georgia's Justin Fields. Fields would ultimately land in Columbus, pushing Martell out the door. Since his departure to Miami, it has been revealed Martell was was in the process of crafting his transfer appeal prior to the Oct. 15 opening of the NCAA transfer portal and planned on using Urban Meyer's situation as a sticking point under the NCAA's hardship statute. That never happened and the Buckeyes didn't fight his interest in transferring after the season when it became clear that were looking to add another quarterback for the 2019 season. The 5-foot-11, 210-pound Martell saw action in six games this past fall, completing 23 of 28 passes for 269 yards and a touchdown. He also ran 22 times for 128 yards and two scores playing in a reserve role. Martell capped his prep career as a national All-American after being heavily recruited out of Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman. He led the Gaels to two National Championships throwing for 7,507 yards and 113 touchdowns to just nine interceptions with another 2,294 yards rushing and 35 scores, never losing a game on the prep level. Part of that pre-college rise to stardom has made things difficult on Martell, Miami offensive coordinator Dan Enos told ESPN."Being a quarterback at a major university, there's pressure in that to begin with, and then obviously with a lot of the notoriety Tate's had just from the TV show as a highly recruited guy, with those expectations come people putting pressure on themselves," Enos said. "We've just tried to get Tate to focus on getting better and focusing on the things he needs to focus on. "A lot of times, guys worry about the wrong things. You worry about what other people think. You worry about what are they saying. You can't worry about any of that, you've got to focus in on getting yourself better and getting your mind on the right things. That's the message I've had to him the entire spring." Miami's quarterback competition is wide open heading into fall, but Martell didn't necessarily put his best foot forward in the race during the spring. He struggled mightily during a public scrimmage and doesn't appear to have created separation from Jarren Williams and N'Kosi Perry on the depth chart.
"Good thing you slid in my DM's" Subtext: if you're a cleat chasing THOT try sliding in my DM's because it will totally work
Pretty sure they're switching them around and it's not really something to read into. That said, not much could bring me more joy than a Tate Martell victory over Florida however unlikely that is.
And a true FR LT possibly? Oh my Left Tackle: Zion Nelson (Fr.), John Campbell (rFr.), Adam ElGammal (Fr.) Left Guard: Navaughn Donaldson (Jr.), Cleveland Reed (rSo.) Center: Corey Gaynor (rSo.), Jakai Clark (Fr.) Right Guard: DJ Scaife (So.) Tommy Kennedy (Sr.) Right Tackle: Kai-Leon Herbert (rSo.), Zalontae Hillery Breakdown: Outside of the quarterback position, the most interesting depth chart news on Friday night was the fact that true freshman Zion Nelson is taking the snaps with the first team at left tackle
Yes Miami fans would totally not be making jokes if UF was going to trot out a 5’7 QB in his first career start vs Miami
That’s BIG talk from a guy who’s relying on Felipe fucking Franks Isn’t UF breaking in a decent number of new lineman as well?
I mean franks is no tebow but if you’re asking if I’d prefer him over Perry or Tathan I’d say for sure
Nobody knows what Miami’s roster has to offer with an actual QB coach And 75% of that great second half Franks had came against Idaho and a dead FSU team
