.00000002 cents so way worse. I love driving a Tesla and what they have accomplished but fuck he's awful.
All he had to do was give the kid a job or something and then a week later someone else would have done the same thing.
I know there is no ethical consumerism anymore but I don't see how I could get a Tesla at this point.
Musk should spend every waking hour praising the US government bc he'd be some random guy that had bankrupted a startup without sweet handouts from the US government but instead he's the 2nd richest person in the world and spends his days whining about how wronged he is by the government.
What's really fucking annoying he should be the poster child for how Gov't spending and investment drives technology change. Tesla and SpaceX are alive solely b/c of gov't programs and it's help driving change.
The part I find most annoying is how he went from being on the govt tit to the 2nd richest man in the world. That's just fucked up. Idk what the answer is, and I haven't thought this fully through, but at first thought I'd love a "If you take X amount from the government, you can only profit Y in the future. If you take X amount, Y amount has to continuously be put back into the company in employee wages or R&D. If that means the guy on the line at the plant makes $300k a year, sweet. Not saying the owner shouldn't have a chance to be wealthy, but there's a huge gap between wealthy and what Musk is now. If you do it all on your own, whatever. But if you exist bc of bailouts and subsidies, your shit is capped.
Are you considering Putin the richest man in the world? Because Musk it currently about 80 billion richer than Bezos
Sorry I get my rich fucks mixed up, thought Bezos had passed him again. Point stands. $80b clear of 2nd place
ELECTRIC VEHICLES Cheap Juice: Honda and GM Pair Up to Keep Their EV Costs Down Some automakers have been working for more than 100 years to perfect the internal combustion engine. The same cannot be said for electric vehicles, whose growing popularity has sent shock waves through the auto ecosystem. To make up for lack of production infrastructure, Big Auto players are teaming up in hopes of keeping EV prices down. On Tuesday, General Motors and Honda announced they are joining forces to make something Tesla seems to have given up on: a cheap, compact electric car. Go Small or Go Home Tesla, the EV behemoth that occupies Elon Musk's time when he's not working on an edit button for Twitter, is squarely focused on producing cars at the luxury end of the spectrum. The $47,000 price tag on its cheapest car, the Model 3, is 34% more expensive than it was three years ago. Tesla temporarily shelved plans for a $25,000 entry-level vehicle earlier this year. With Tesla in a holding pattern, GM and Honda are promising to flood the market with millions of new EVs priced at around $30,000 by 2027: • GM says it will share its “Ultium” battery and electric motor technology, the power behind the forthcoming $30,000 Chevy Equinox EV, with Honda. The collaboration will reduce the costs of producing expensive EV powertrains, and aim to create a new architecture for small crossover SUVs. • The partnership will also help both companies inch towards emissions goals: GM has pledged to be carbon neutral by 2040 and offer a zero-emissions lineup of vehicles by 2035. Honda plans to be all-electric by 2040. Tag-Team Action: GM and Honda aren’t the only carmakers looking to combine resources in hopes of creating a petrol-free lineup. BMW and Land Rover, Subaru and Toyota, and Volkswagen and Ford have also announced plans to collaborate on building new EVs. It Takes Two: Honda is also looking beyond GM to help it in the EV market. Last month, it announced plans to create a new electric car company with tech giant (and movie studio) Sony. We anxiously await the coming attractions.
I have a hunch that Elon is doing this as a way to sell large chunks of his Tesla stock without tanking the price. Tesla is very overvalued right now and he knows it. Musk knows he needs to diversify so, what better way than to pretend that he's rescuing twitter from the censorship police by purchasing it at the cost of a huge chunk of Tesla. On the other hand, his SpaceX stock is worth more than Tesla, so who knows. He has fuck you money so this might just be like you or me deciding to buy an Xbox
I'm not going to pretend to know the rules and regulations on it but couldn't he make it public with a new board down the road?
It's very classic "elon doesn't understand PR". You can't even buy them from the site bc they are out of stock. So if he says something like "they are delayed, to get you your car faster we are shipping them without it and will give you a credit to buy them once they get back in stock" then it's a good thing. Creating some fake stat of "we dont see a lot of usage with them" when it's the one way people charge at home, is horrendous PR.
anecdotal but I’ve had my car for 4 years and used that charge cable one (1) time. you get at best roughly 4 miles per hour charge time with those. people do charge at home but it’s via wall connector that gets over 40 miles per hour charge time.
I use it with a 14-50 every single day..... gives me 30 miles per hour of charge the wall connector is $500 while the 14-50 adapter was $40
It’s as much an emergency tool as anything else. Going to lead to PR disasters when people are stranded without a charge and blame the company.
We will lock you down in our factory and make you sleep here so the rich can get their EV’s is how that reads to me on its face.
Yes. China is shutting down in certain places. My wife's company has a factory in Northern China and shut down recently for two weeks or so. No sleeping on floors tho
Guy who did this is claiming he had it in auto pilot to park. I don't believe him but its fun either way.
Yep. He went like 10 feet into the sidewalk almost into the dentist office there then I guess quickly put it in drive and hit the parked car and dragged it with him into the spot.
