Are there time limits, some kind of enforcement for public charging stations? I ask bc it really seems like a handful of assholes just use them as parking spots charging while they’re at work, dinner, shopping, etc.

I'm ok with stops. They are a part of traveling. I just do them as they come up. I dont pre-plan where I'm stopping for gas and I prefer to stop as little as possible. That's what I've said the entire time. I never said I wasnt ok with multiple stops. You're making that up.

Yeah, starting about 2 years ago Tesla will detect once your charge is almost finished and will text you. Once it gets to a certain time after the charge is done it starts charging you per minute that the car is just sitting there.

I can bold the parts of those posts where you complain about making multiple stops if you're having trouble seeing them.

Some ICE vehicles will try and use some as parking spots every now and then as well.

Yes, please bold where I said I refuse to stop multiple times.

    You can't.

I have said I don't pre-plan stops. I dont like being forced to stop at a certain exit. That's all.

Seriously. It amazes me the lengths people will go to say someone else's preference or opinion is wrong. If I prefer to stop at certain exits that I've been stopping at for 15 years while making that trip, who the fuck cares? I don't pre-plan it, but if I get hungry, I know the exits well enough to know there's a Hardees a couple exits up and I'd rather go there than the next exit bc its McDonalds. I usually avoid all of the exits in Tallahassee bc of traffic getting on and off. That's my preference. It's hilarious that some want to prove my preference is wrong.

I never complained about multiple stops. I said I only stop when I have to. That's a preference. Sorry if you cant grasp that.

Tesla doesnt show a charger in Madison. It shows one in Defuniak. Your pic is not Madison.

Why do you even care where I like to stop? Your hard on for me makes me smile. Its hilarious.

Two complaints about multiple stops right here.
I don't care at all about where you like to stop. But I do care about how disingenuous you're being with regard to how much you're okay with stopping. See below:
In the first quote, a stop specifically to charge a Tesla is "an extra stop" (a burden). Yet in the second quote, stopping for gas is just one of several stops you might make on a trip (routine).

There are plenty of reasons and scenarios where Tesla's are impractical. I just hate to see you fabricating ones in here.

Multiple stops and extra stops are two different things.

As of now, I stop when needed. Need to piss? I'll stop. If I dont have enough gas to get where I'm going, I'll get gas while there. If I dont get hungry or need to piss, I'll eventually get gas when I I run low. I cant so that in a Tesla. With a Tesla, I 100% have to stop in Tallahassee. Doesn't matter if I need to piss or I'm hungry. I have to stop there. Need to piss an hour later? Gotta stop again.

It's just weird that you try to tell me what I do and dont do and how it wouldn't be different in a Tesla.

im curious the amount of hotels and condo's that have charging stations. lets ignore the charging while taking your 6 hour drive, if you take your EV on vacation, what do you do about charging for the week?

I imagine that people who buy an EV either have another vehicle to use on extremely long trips, or check in advance to see locations that have chargers.

This whole "what do we do?!?" brain teaser seems like a problem that doesn't exist for the 99% of people buying these cars. Seems pretty simple, to me.

We've only discussed Superchargers which are more like gas stations which you could still use, there are also things called Destination chargers which are available at hotels, some restaurants, etc (destination chargers charge at a slower rate but are at places you usually hang out at for an hour+). There are also 3rd party charge companies like Chargepoint that have chargers at a lot of random places like say a golf course.

I think Bliff does, and lechnerd does on this board. Lowest priced model is the Standard Range at 35k now.

    SR 35k
    SR+ 37k
    MR 40k
    LR RWD 43k
    LR AWD 47k

Varies on model and your location.

Probably a month for most models although SR+ is showing 6-8weeks.

Edit* they do have some inventory and I’ve read about people getting some in less than a week.

Off topic(from this current tangent)I had been noticing a lot of Tesla's lately so I decided to count them on my ~7 min/3mile(each way) drive to drop my daughter off at my in laws. Counted 16, people like their Tesla's out here.

Interiors, the S has a display in the dash like normal cars and a large touch screen. More space, more creature comforts, slightly better range and the performance model is faster, air suspension vs coil, hepa air filter, etc.

At this point I think the model 3 LR is better value for your money but I also believe a refresh for the Model S and X is coming soon.

haha na just playing around with it as I may be getting wife or myself a new car soon. I'm very interested in the tech and I think they are great cars. I'd have no issue putting my wife and daughter in one. I'm just worried about the stability of the company and what happens to the cars if they go under. It's not like a Jeep where any mechanic can fix your inline 6 cylinder.

I wouldn't worry too much about the company going completely under. If things get bad for them one of the large automakers will just buy them out. There's too much value in the tech and charging network they've developed for them to go completely belly up.

It's the upper end of the mid range price. LR is the most expensive non AWD and then you added 9,000 worth of options

Go drive one man I think you’d like it. Also as we’ve argued over, very safe for the wife and kid.

As far as the company that’s a lot of fear mongering, the production ramp was hard and it strained the company but now that it’s settled things are significantly better but wait it out and see what you think.

I’d recommend seeing what infrastructure is around you, service centers, chargers etc.

I've driven one before, but it's been years since I have. Wife was in one recently and liked it.

As for the company itself, not really wanting to argue it. I don't think it's just fear mongering. I have real concerns about it. I know someone would buy the tech side of it but not sure where that would leave cars on the road.

There's plenty of chargers for 99% of our driving. Wife would use my car when she went to Alabama or we'd use mine when on vacation but for her normal routine around town it'd be fine.

Founders Series Roadster reservations require an initial $5,000 credit card payment, plus a $245,000 wire transfer payment due in 10 days. Reservations are not final until the wire transfer payment is received.
