This thread is 99 pages because of people taking what Musk says at his every literal word. But now we're going to start judging him based on what people think he means rather than what he actually said? And that article acknowledges that he didn't say they were going there to beat the Porsche's time.
You're right man, ever car blog ran with it bc Musk's tweet wasnt misleading at all. Its everyone else's fault, not Musk.
You just said every car blog ran with it because of a tweet that didn't exist when the article you posted was written. Don't try to turn this around on me.
Every car blog ran with it bc be was misleading about it from his first tweet. Again though, you'll blame everyone else instead of him.
Every car blog ran with it because they were speculating. That's why even your source article has this in it, "R&T asked a Tesla spokesperson for more information on what Musk was referring to, or what the automaker has planned for its visit to the Nürburgring." And just to circle back to the beginning: Do you concede that he didn't make any specific claim other than that Tesla was going to Nurburgring? And do you also concede that Nurburgring didn't say he was lying, but merely said Tesla had not reserved any time for a record attempt?
You probably hadn't because that place would get sued first for not having an ADA compliant parking lot.
I'll take that as a yes to my questions then. Thanks. Those compliant spots could also just be full, no?
I got the hand-timed thing. But this was some random German mag doing it, not Tesla's own people, and the Tesla wasn't faster by mere tenths of a second.
On the one hand, a German automotive mag thought it was worth recording. And then numerous outlets, such as Motor Trend, thought it was worth reporting on. On the other hand, dblplay from the internet says it's meaningless. Which side to take, this is a tough one.
I love dbl main point in this thread initially was to call out the "stans" yet the only thing he does now is try to put down Tesla or any achievement in every post. Especially became the polar opposite of what he hates
Weird, just last week you disregarded all those blogs and went with what Musk said. Convenient. But yea man let's run with a hand timed lap from a random German blog that you nor I have ever heard of. Again, it very well could beat it. It hasn't yet.
Pointing out an unofficial lap hand timed by a random German blog means as much as UF hand timed 40s is wrong?
Just look at you. You're an anti Tesla Stan. Every. Single. Post. you reply and try to down play it It's pretty pathetic
Not slurping up a hand time unofficial lap from a random German blog none of us have heard of / hating You can't make this up.
They've been in business 70 years and apparently have enough credibility that companies such as Motor Trend cite them. Honestly having a standard of "If I, an American, haven't heard of them then they have no credibility" is extremely fucked up. And fyi, they're an actual magazine. But casting them off as a blog probably doesn't even register as bad for someone who's willing to discount them for being foreign.
Last week you disregarded what the actual track and all the sites said to side with Musk. Now you want to side with those same sites. Convenient. And I'm not discounting them for being foreign. I'm discounting them bc I, not you until 10 minutes ago, had ever heard of them. I dont believe everything posted on the internet. And even if I was familiar with them, its hand timed. It means shit. Well unless you're a Tesla fanboy, then it's the gospel.
Tell me all about this publication you learned of 10 minutes ago and why I should take their hand time as official.
I didn't disregard what the track or sites said. I explained to you how what Musk said and what the track said didn't contradict one another. And then I further explained how the sites even had caveats stating they didn't know for sure what Musk meant by his tweet. People can read the posts so I don't get why you try to be misleading like this. Just because they're in a different country and we haven't heard of them doesn't mean they're irrelevant. Neither of us are car experts so how in the world is us not having heard of them a fair standard to judge their credibility? You've just reduced their over half century of existence and work to nothing because you're some random American who hasn't heard of them. So shitty.
No matter when we became aware of them it doesn't change the fact that they're not a "random blog." That was just you trying to dismiss them out of hand for no good reason.
No one said it was "official", clearly it's faster and times by a reputable magazine. So in 40s we take hand tomes to add 2 tenths. So it was 19.8s faster
You posted in here for half a year without knowing how much a Tesla cost nor what the major differences were between a 3 and an S. You're not an expert or anything resembling one.
You're an expert on this publication bc you Googled it 10 minutes ago but I can't be a car expert bc I didnt know something 6 months ago? Neat.
No, it clearly happened. That's a fact. It's just not official by the track and isn't going to go in a wall. I can go run a 8 minute mile. It still happened even if and official scorer wasn't there
Answer the question. Who's a better judge of credibility in the automotive industry: you or Motor Trend
I'm not an expert. But I can read Motor Trend and the Wikipedia page for the company and understand that maybe I shouldn't dismiss them just because I haven't heard of them.
It could be Jesus himself reporting. It was hand timed. It means shit. Of course they'll report it bc stans like you will click 100 times but it means nothing. They arent saying its official. They are just saying another publication reported it.
I'm believing a reputable publication isn't lying and it's probably within 2-3s at worst of a laser time. Yes. Crazy. So let's do you... . You immediately see a tweet, don't read the article to see it wasn't a blog, don't do a quick Google to see who wrote it, just with out zero fucking information you deem it bullshit bc you are a anti-Tesla Stan. Yeah? Yup.
