Bummer sorry man. Atleast that last parts good, can’t you carry losses over multiple years? But only up to 3,000 a year correct? You can always become a long with me.
i'm not 100% sure of the rule. haven't met with accountant yet for 2018 taxes. i sold it all before the new year though
I shit before I go or try to hold it until I get to my destination bc I really don't like to shit in a gas station.
V3 Supercharging info: -250kW peak rate using a 1MW cabinet so each stall gets max rated power per car. At peak rates that means 75mi in 5 min, but that performance will obviously taper as charge % increases. Given the info posted below of someones charge rate at the event, 8%-75% takes 24 minutes so adds 200+ mi -Rollout of On-route Battery warmup feature -Charge cable is thinner and liquid cooled -Model 3's the only model currently that can take advantage of this. Additionally all current V2 superchargers will get a bump up to 145kW (from 120kW) via updates. Which is important for current S&X. Photos comparing V2 to V3 Spoiler: Supercharging
I mean your house is your normal gas station everyday. This is just for the handful of times you go on trips a year.
This is a fundamental load of crap. Lets take the LR RWD Model 3 rated now to go 325 mi on a full charge, you know you have a trip tomorrow so the day before you set your car to charge to 100% overnight. You then drive for 4 hours the next at 75 so 300 miles, that gets you to 8%. Most normal people would need to eat or piss or stretch after 4 hours of driving, now in 25 minutes you can be back on the road able to drive 230+ more miles. So I can drive for 7 hours or 530+mi and only have to make a stop for 25 minutes.
The issue is finding a charging station. They aren't at every exit. It's not unusual to have 120+ mile gaps even on interstates. Miss one and you're fucked. Having to plan around charges isn't appealing to a lot of people.
If only there were something built into the car that had exact routing and trip planning so you could plan and drive accordingly.... maybe someday
Sure if we were to ignore the fact that they are constantly building out superchargers every year and that they focus on major travel corridors. 99% of the US is covered by V2 chargers, the V3 build out will do the same and will probably focus on major travel corridors first. The computer tells you where you can charge along your route and does this for you including what % you will arrive at the charger with given your current energy consumption.
I mean you can brush it off all you want. It may not be a big deal for you but it is for some. Some like to get in the car and drive without talking to Kit to have him plan the trip. I'd use the in car set up but I can absolutely understand some people not wanting to have to put that much effort into route planning, even if it's just plugging it into the car.
i just plugged in going from houston, TX to fayetteville, AR-- a route i've driven too many times. google maps: 8 hours 43 minutes tesla route planner: 11 hours
Do you still print out directions from Google maps? Also, do you drive on interstates that only have exits and no on ramps for 120 molds?
Right, and as they add them it become much easier to take a long trip. His comment was referring to today. It's not unusual to have a 5 hour drive right now and pass 1 charger. If you get distracted and miss that charger, you're fucked.
No. If I'm driving to Miami, I hop on 95 South. I don't need to plug in anything. Sure, they have exits and ramps. There's not a Tesla charger at every exit.
how many v3 chargers have been installed nationwide? if they don't have enough cash to operate storefronts to actually sell their cars, do they have enough cash to add more gas stations in random places like texarkana, tx?
laid off 8% of their employees last week. third round of 8-10% layoffs in a year. closed all store fronts. closed a ton of service centers. china not letting them sell cars. germany making them change the way they advertise. lots of new gas stations tho
There’s more Tesla chargers than you think and will grow more as every year passes. Also there are other 3rd party chargers. The in car navigation guides you to chargers and gives you all info you’d need to know without having to do crazy research like you think. Again being able to drive 7 hours with one stop for 25 minutes in the future will be just fine.
You're making the argument using older charge times though Which is the point of the new super charger news
Yeah and guess what. After you make that a normal drive you know where the exact charges are you want to use then you never have to use it again. It's not super difficult
the new super charger news is an attempt to pump the stock price ahead of elon's court date on monday.
Lol this “competitors” thing is such a farce, where’s the beloved Audi Etron or hows that Jaguar Ipace
Oh yea, it'll be better every year. I was just referring to now. Just looking at Florida, there's some really big gaps, especially in the panhandle.
i don't think anyone says tesla doesn't have an advantage of being the first "mass produced" EV. but audi and jaguar also are going to take their time and not build cars in a tent in the parking lot
Im not brushing anything off I live in BFE Nebraska. If anyone had a gripe it would rural people. Perhaps I’m used to it because there’s 70 miles between actual gas stations here.
Nobody is saying it's super difficult. It's just inconvenient. It amazes me how people can't take a step back and see things through another lens. I literally spent 2 hours this morning with a guy teaching him how to e-sign docs and take screenshots on his phone to send me docs. You and I can do it in 10 minutes. He's buying a $1.5m house but doesn't know how to fucking take a screenshot. Not everyone is tech savy. The number of people that are goes up every year but a HUGE piece of the market isn't. Telling someone they have 1 gas station on a 7 hour drive, and if they miss that station they'll be stranded on the side of the road, isn't really appealing to a lot of people. You can say "Fuck them, that's not Tesla's customer anyways!" and that's fine. But brushing it off like it's ridiculous to even bring it up and that everyone should be ok with route planning around where they can charge when they are used to having a gas station at literally every exit is fucking stupid.
Haha so when other people stumble over themselves to produce a car it’s “they are just taking their time” even though when it comes out it’ll be an inferior product in 2020 to car Tesla made in 2018 or 2016 and cost more.
i don't think they're stumbling? audi doesn't need to rush a car to market to meet payroll or to pay off a $900m bond
Lmao, k bud. "here's my example drive" "there are 20 stations on that drive" "but if they miss one on a 7 hour drive they will be stranded!!!!!! "
Yes are baby boomers the fundamental target audience for this? No. Doesn’t mean they can’t learn, my folks use iPhones and iPads all the time I never believed that would happen 5 years ago. Again you neglect that the in car navigation literally gives you directions to what supercharger you need to stop at based on your energy consumption along your drive.
