weather and I wanted to live in a diverse place and be closer to my parents who retired in Texas I miss Portland a lot. It’s an elite food city, but I really don’t miss white libs in acid wash jeans coming up to me in a bar and asking me what ethnicity I am before introducing themselves and I 1000% do not miss the way harsh winters made me a depressed alcoholic who was going to the same hipsters dive bar 4 nights a week.
Thank you for your honest and thought out answer Too bad theres no nice friendly areas in better weather that are not located in hellhole states for you to live in. I mean maybe Cali but then you are sacrificing your money.
This is a perfect summation of what it’s like to be a person of color in Portland ME. Great city with some awesome breweries, but the lack of diversity has always been readily apparent. Still, Allagash.
But how, as an outsider that doesn’t know the terrain, do you distinguish those blue areas form the red ones? I guess a look at the local school rankings would be a good place to start?
If you’re willing to live without a lot of the consumer bullshit we all love, in a time zone that will have you fielding calls from friends and family at 5am, on a rock in the middle of the ocean… Hawaii has some affordable areas (and really unaffordable ones), the weather is fantastic and it’s pretty blue.
This is true. We’ve never lost power in my near 38 years here just because a lot of electricity is being used. It’s always because of some weather-related event breaks something (or a dumbass driver knocks down an electrical pole).
I’m just waiting for the state republicans to claim Harris county’s elections were fraudulent and then overturn the results and put their candidates in office.
I mean when you’re describing 19 dead elementary kids and you use the phrase “it could have been worse” not only should your political career be over, you should have to walk across a frozen river like TDK returns
It's fucked up that the only way Abbott faces any consequences for his latest fuck up is if he actually does something about the gun violence in response. Zero downside in doing nothing, but his political career could be over if he moves even one inch towards being a decent human
You know he's praying for some other disaster to strike to change the news cycle so they can get back to fundraising
Its almost like maybe the police feared for their lives because the shooter had easy access to AN ASSAULT RIFLE AND BODY ARMOR. Arm the teachers though…
Didn’t he not have body armor? I think that was an early change of story. Or idk I’ve lost track of all the inconsistencies.
Props to Dan Patrick for laying low and letting Abbott take body blows for once. Meanwhile this is who Dems have tapped to run against him (again).
Was talking with my dad (who is pretty damn liberal) about cops and how I don’t think they have a move dangerous job than anyone else and I put the over/under at .5 cops killed in the last decade in Corpus Christi, a town of ~325,000 If you don’t count the Covid death I win and there have been 9 cops killed in corpus since 1892
Your daily reminder that white American Christians are pound for pound some of the most evil people on the planet and deserve to put in black sites in order to keep humanity safe from their dangerous and genocidal beliefs. Fuck them they’ve ruined everything and deserve more than anyone to have it sent back at them in Spades
Especially in the dfw suburbs. It’s like the mega church grifter evangelical Bible Belt migration epicenter.
They’re a bunch of fucking lunatics. Yet people don’t even bat an eye when these pieces of shit say this nonsense. That pastor should be beaten to a point where he’s not even recognizable for saying that hateful ass shit in public. I mean fuck some of the stuff they believe in would make isis blush (they literally allow for abortions).
you always try to work dfw in your dumb fucking posts but houston is just as bad. Did you forget that osteen literally turned away people at his church after the hurricane in Houston? Texas as a whole just sucks quit trying to play everything off as a dfw thing. Houston sucks ass. Austin sucks ass. San Antonio sucks ass.
This is some shit that my previous company was trying to become a leader in on the consumption side, a "micro-grid" where you can have various battery storage charged through solar and other means but it seemed like they were still years and years away from this being a reality. Just a lot of smoke and mirrors right now and I wouldn't be shocked one bit if Tesla is hyping this up despite not being anywhere near ready for this project to go to market.
not before Tesla and Elon get 10 figures of public money bc of some carnival barking that isn’t substantiated in any way shape or form
You mean like the hyperloop and the boring company and self-driving cars and the cybertruck and the child rescue submarine?
