They better get that school funding bill passed. It's not great, but far better than the nothing we'd get otherwise.
so that is a house bill. they're currently negotiating with the senate. it will pass in some form 100%
New polling shows Texans support vouchers 64-36 with every demographic other than white democrats supporting them. Lol
New polling shows Paxton wiping up the floor with Cornyn in the primary but barely beating Dems in the general. So apparently the GOP is trying to get Wesley Hunt to run so they have someone just as crazy but with less lazy eye.
They also don’t want that 64% in their schools (which will never happen). Hence the whole private school thing.
Very serious people Here's the video of Dan Patrick throwing a THC snack at a reporter #txlege— gwen howerton (@kissphoria.bsky.social) 2025-05-28T21:52:10.205Z
There are worse states (somehow) but Texas is the stupidest. idk how anyone with a brain could choose to move there
I’ve yet to speak with someone who actually supports vouchers. I don’t doubt what you’ve seen and shouldn’t be surprised, but I question the veracity.
Texas is the craziest big state/biggest crazy state (take your pick). But you’re right that it’s not the worst and it’s frankly not close. That said, this legislative session has been an absolute nightmare and we’re going to be in for a bad time if democrats don’t make gains in 2026. Not to in any way hand it to ISIS, but the Rs and Ds are playing different games; the republicans peddle in evil and sometimes get what they want in spite of themselves. The democrats seem like they don’t get that they’re even in a fight. It’s like the national stuff, but honestly more imbalanced.
Over 900 tips led to arrests in fatal Grapevine Lake jet ski hit-and-run crash Gov. Greg Abbott posted about the case on X, sharing a link to a news story and writing, “Welcome to Texas. Here’s your Death Penalty.” clown emoji
republicans voters don’t vote for their reps because of their policies. If the actual policies were put on the ballot then it would be like 80% of what dems campaign on
That is a pretty good encapsulation of the gop today: let's wreck the thing that nobody in our party wants any part of to begin with
Trumper I work with today ... "you better stock up on gummies because of Dan Patrick's dumbass" "Already did" "I don't know man. The Republican Party used to be about freedom and small government. I don't know what the fuck they're doing"
Seems like they're getting nervous https://www.marijuanamoment.net/tex...-to-medical-marijuana-program-expansion-bill/
Little argued big time in favor of that moody amendment. He intimated that if the house didn’t pass that amendment then he might have the votes to sink the entire bill. He’s on the conference committee with Dutton and Johnson who will not vote for tort reform under any circumstances. I don’t think the house will agree to any changes
No conference committee report on sb30 by the midnight deadline. They could amend the rules and file it today but… it’s dead. amazing work by TTLA, Joe Moody, Mitch Little and Marc LaHood.
I think TLR didn’t want the symbolic win because then the legislators could say… didn’t we give you tort reform last session? With that being said, TLRs influence is clearly waning in the age of social media. Their tactics for a long time have been fear mongering and lying and their lies are really really easy to expose. like… that paid op ed in the wsj written by weekleys friend might’ve done something ten years ago. It took me 5 minutes to find the authors hidden agenda and took people who pay attention to this shit for a living probably less time.
Lmao I still can’t believe we won on tort reform. Get fuckeddddd TLR. They spent $20,000,000 buying legislators for this session. Dick weekly spent $7,000,000 himself. Get fuckeddddddddfdfff
Medical expansion passed with chronic pain without an opiod prerequisite added. Not sure they did anything to make it more affordable for folks though
I did last week, and got a non-automated response within 24 hours. It was generic but I imagine the volume of feedback to his office is large and overwhelming in support of a veto. I think he sees an opening to improve his popularity and cut Patrick’s power in one move; I could see it. edit: not getting my hopes up ultimately, but I just think it’s not crazy to envision him vetoing it and calling a special session to regulate instead
