we’ve only had 1 other dc since then and he doesn’t want to be a hc
It's not a shot at OU or the B12 at all. It's just realistic about it. OC at OU is a fantastic job. An AD would love to bring in an OU OC as HC bc he can sell "He captained the top scoring O in the country." DC though? B12 D's look bad on paper compared to the rest of the country bc of style of play. That's not a hot take at all.
What about non-OU B12 DC's?
i don’t know dbl, let me get the b12 encyclopedia off my shelf
I figured it'd be easy to rattle off a few B12 DC's to get P5 jobs in the last 10 years.
but he's already at a blueblood college football program that has appeared in 5 of the 5 CFPs...
For Bama, I can say that Kirby became the UGA coach in 2016 and Pruitt became a HC at UT in 2018. That's 2 DC's in 3 years to become a HC of a P5 program.
He's not king ding-a-ling tho
congrats on not fostering nepotism
Now we're cooking with gas
Hey 47 straight your momma so fat Thanos had to snap twice
Boxers are a terrible breed of dog
I would like to point out Alabamas corners are a bunch of slow pudgy fat asses. H2H.
Hey man, thought we were just having fun. Don't be that guy
Surtain is literally the best corner you will face all year. FOH with that shit
I had two boxers growing up. They are great dogs
So I'm a fucking marlin? That's badass, I'll take it
You're just a landlocked Oklahoman. No one has more riding on this game than you. We comin
OK you are forgiven.
What is your name going to be when Bama breaks the winning streak?
Seriously though I liked how Georgia challenged Alabamas corners and I think we can expose them a little.
They could be a bitch in the red zone though.
I'm sure Riley will be watching that game film and will be able to take away some plays they were successful with. Fromm did a great job of getting the ball out of his hands in a hurry. Lots of short routes and a few back shoulder throws. Our corners were always in good position but he was able to hit small windows in a hurry to eliminate our pass rush.
Also may not seem like it but Bama did fairly well against UGA on defense. Held them below 4 ypc and around 7 ypa. They didn't score after their first drive in the 3rd quarter and this was against the 3rd best offense in the country. Our D can absolutely step it up when needed
Things OU is gonna take from Bama in December:
1. The Heisman
2. Orange bowl win
3. Pete Golding
4. Karl Scott
You'll never hear the end of it
I assume if Golding stays it’s because he’s got an iron-clad reason to believe he’ll be DC relatively soon.
We know all about Fromm last year. Fucker turns into Troy Aikman sometimes. It's infuriating.
I was pleased with how Georgia's Oline did because we're just as talented and big.
To me you're talking about adjustments and that I think will be one of the biggest stories of this game.
Saban will adjust. Can Riley adjust to sabans adjustments or stay ahead of him mentally?
It's the old genius vs the new one.
I already like these guys way more than Clemson and OSU fans.
I really have no doubt OU will put up points in this game. Anywhere from 35-49 wouldn't surprise me. The area of this game that makes the difference is ou D vs our O. It really isn't even a competition. When looking at comparable defenses on Alabamas schedule you all matchup with Arkansas, tennessee and Ole Miss. we dropped 60 on all three while shutting it down in the 3rd. I don't want to come off as an arrogant dick but that's the reality when looking at S&P+ ratings.
Our D is more highly rated than Iowa state and Texas who both slowed you all considerably. Especially in the running game which I think we can take away from you all while only committing 5-6 to the box. Giving Riley a month to prepare mitigates that advantage somewhat but doesn't wipe it out
The Crimson alliance was once strong. Lots of history
no doubt bama is going to score. the problem will be that ours will score a lot more than arkansas, tennessee, and ole miss, so we *should* have the ball longer than they did. or at least have longer scoring drives. i wouldn't say 60 is out of the question, but that'll be hard
and there is no way bama can commit 5-6 guys in the box and expect to shut down the run game. that's one thing i'll definitely argue against. texas had success in the big 12 championship because they loaded up and run blitzed like every play, which is why we were able to beat them over the top so many times. brown had 5 (5!!) drops in that game, and 3 of them were deep balls that would have been 40+ yards and 2+ tds. stack the box and riley will go deep, don't and he'll pound the ground game. and ou is good at both
still think this is a 45-42 type game just because ou's offense will have the ball/score enough to limit bama's opportunities and keep it close. also, we're average to dogshit at special teams so i dunno how much that will factor in
We're the moldy dirt under the dog shit.
The only real advantage we have there is that we are used to shoot outs both on offense and defense.
So if Alabama scores it's 6th or even 7th TD the defense just says FIDO and the offense just claps their hands and says let's go get another one.
Can Alabama keep the same mentality
Love me some Maria Taylor.
"Rutledge assigned to the Sooners"
Seems like just yesterday that Saban snapped at Maria Taylor and everyone freaked out. The college football season really flies by ill tell ya
Not setting a high bar here, but definitely true. So far.
Have a family member in the OU board of regents office. Was told Golding has been waiting to see if Lupoi got a HC gig as his preference is to be the sole DC at Alabama. It also isn’t a deal breaker if Lupoi stays but he’d like to put his full stamp on a defense.
OUs pitch is if Riley takes an NFL job in the next few years he has the inside track to be the next OU head coach (it would be an unannounced HC in waiting designation but since OU doesn’t want to even hint at Riley leaving it’s a wink and nod agreement).
He hasn’t ruled out Ole Miss either since he’s from Mississippi (and his wife prefers to go back to northern Mississippi where they are from) but he worries about talent in the near future being an issue. However, if this goes past Friday afternoon without him taking the Ole Miss job they will hire Mike MacIntyre as Saturday is a big visit weekend for defensive recruits and OM wants to have a DC in place.
He’s leaning Alabama right now but has waffled at least once since Monday on staying at Alabama.
Money isn’t an issue with any of the offers.
Oh, it’s too late to do that. I’ve already circled his name. He’s comin.
So Goldings a lock. Wonder if he's getting a discrete "signing bonus" before the Alabama game or after.
I really like Golding but making him HC in waiting seems, well, idiotic.
yeah there’s zero chance that is true
This Peter Golding guy sounds like a dumbass if he’s just blathering on about his options to some rando at OU.
Literally we have an F- special teams rating on NCAA football 2019
Also no Fighting Okra alumni would be as shady as Futureman is implying
