He’s in that Pepe no mans land now. Three on him immediately because you don’t have to respect anything from a central mid from us. 90% of the time they’re in the wrong position anyhow.
We had a few minutes there where we looked like shit, but they kept it together. That inevitable goal by the other side never happened.
I’d actually really like to hear/read a breakdown of what he’s doing well cause I’m just not seeing it. what would you lose by just playing another midfielder with a back 4
You know.... We rightfully gave him a ton of shit. But David Luiz has been great in two straight games now
I think ideally it helps Tierney/Saka/whoever plays LWB get forward more, which led to the Saka goal. And no one other than Tierney can really play that role. Ideally Xhaka floats back into that position and we play 433 but hard to switch right now
I really hope that Arteta keeps AMN and develops him. Never going to be a superstar but is a very good athlete, is versatile and I believe his ceiling is solid starter on a top 4/top 6 type team. We can use players like that.
Just because we need an attacking CM doesn’t mean we also don’t need a true DM. Partey would help us vastly against the counter and when teams are pressing us like Wolves in the second half.
He's 27 & offers nothing creatively, going forward. I'd rather deal with Guen's antics & hope he grows up/develops, over dropping £50M on Partley.
I think you’re misrepresenting Partey’s game. He’s really good on the ball, is press resistant, good in tight spaces. All things we completely lack outside of a mediocre Ceballos on loan
He doesn't push us up the table alone, represents our entire summer budget, will be on £200k/week & will offer no resale at the end of his deal. Hard pass
Realistically, unless Özil makes a massive about-face, we're treading water financially until next summer. Unless Stan invests
Really wish we could cut a deal and buy him out. Cover half the remaining and let him get paid in Turkey. What a waste of talent
