Can't get enough of this show. Part of me wishes they'd do a season dump on netflix. Cant handle the suspense of waiting.
well at the end of last season it was said here that it would be a jump the shark moment if he were a commie. Now he is trying to get information from Paige? Whole thing seems weird.
Did you watch the season preview at the end of the episode? Spoiler The fbi listens to a recording of Paige and the pastor talking about her parents being spies. He isn't what he seems.
Im not sure if she saved him as much as just making it a lot more difficult for her parents to eliminate him. It's not like they can just ask him not to tell anyone. Im guessing they find a way to blackmail him into secrecy, but I doubt even that is a secure enough solution.
"tim and alice are going to be a big part of our lives for a long time" god damnit every episode where pastor tim isnt dead is the worst episode
Ive been wanting to kill Martha and Pastor Tim for too long now, almost as long as Ive been wanting a Sandra and Elizabeth hookup.
Roommate is a season behind right now so I'm watching season 3 again. Just watched the suitcase scene/ep.
I kinda figured it was gonna happen when they started walking her down the hallway. But the sudden brutality of it had me like RIP Nina
Unless this somehow sets off Oleg it kind of makes me wonder what the point of tracking her for the last 2 seasons has been if she wasn't ever going to return to any of the major plot lines
This isn't The Walking Dead. The writers know what they are doing, and I trust them. They pay such meticulous attention to every single detail in this show, it is OCD-like. From making sure that songs that are being played fit the month, to the uniforms that a bus driver would be wearing from then, even a TV show episode being shown in the background fits the exact day and time they are portraying. These guys have put their work in. They won't let us down with this storyline.
Honestly, I'm happy she's dead. I don't think her story was a necessary one to tell in that way anymore. She'll hang over the show now but in a good way. She just wasn't connected with the current characters directly, and hadn't been for a while. That said, brutal way to do it. Damn.
Good way to put it. I have to give the show props they had you thinking two other characters might die and that Oleg was saving Nina. Then bam its over. Also I was fascinated how cold the officers and the verdict reader were when they shot her. Zero emotion.
Just watched. I even knew it was coming from a couple of things I had seen on Twitter, and the suddenness of it still got a "Holy shit!" out of me.
I listen to Slate's The Americans podcast (which I highly recommend) that has the two show creators and writers along with another guest that talk about each week's episode. They explained that the Soviets actually used that practice of reading a person's sentence and immediately following it with the execution because they thought it was more humane to do that. Which I guess kind of makes sense. Rather than have the person have to sit on death row and ponder what their last days will be like, a quick ending without any time to think about the repercussions in some weird way does seem more humane.
