Give us a few directors cups and ill be good.
Hog hoops gonna get a commit from Ramel Loyd out of CA this week. 4 star and top 70 player, transferring to Sierra Canyon which is where Bronny James plays so they’ll be on TV plenty next year.
Arkansas high school and AAU basketball (and Arkansas HS baseball for that matter) puts out WAY more talent per capita than football. It’s a great year for in state talent if even 5 get offers to UA, though the 2022 class seems to be a welcome aberration. The Little Rock metro is abysmal for its size. We will never.... NEVER be able to consistently get top 10 football classes. We never have, we never will. The best we can hope for is to be able to coach up a top 15-20 class and consistently win 8+, with the occasional 11+ win season. Essentially the Petrino years.
I bleed Razorback red. I was at the sugar bowl when we should have scooped and scored, I was at the CWS when we dropped the ball. But the delusional thinking our fanbase has is ridiculous. We’re not fucking Alabama. Why the fuck would a top 50 recruit with no Arkansas ties pick us against a traditional power? We couldn’t even get DGB when we were winning more than we ever had and he was in our backyard. Somewhat tangential, but how many black people are up in NWA? You think 18 year old African American kids go to Fayetteville and are like “hot damn, US News world report just had NWA in the best places to live for the fifth year in a row!”
I’m happy with how the football program is trending but I’m not going to sit here and pretend like we’re close to competing with the big boys consistently again, either. Maybe when we don’t have multiple teams that have decade long win streaks against us.
I agree with a lot of that. The culture of NWA is changing, slowly but surely, but a gigantic change from even when I was in HS in the early 2000’s. This area is finally starting to produce some high profile recruits on the men’s and women’s side. A lot of them are transplants right now but there’s several that are still young that will be considered home grown in the next few years.
The Little Rock school district being such a goddamn mess for 10+ years has had a big impact on our programs.
Pitt has been an elite recruiter his entire coaching career because of his infectious personality. He has the same expectations of everyone on his staff now, and if you aren’t cutting it he will find someone who will. He’s learned from his predecessors who stubbornly held onto guys who were friends at other stops along the way, but average coaches and below average recruiters.
You mean Cheney?
He’s a big one, yes. Literally
It's apparent the Pittboss is going after great recruiters/coaches with who he's let go and replaced. Dude is expecting results and if you don't produce then bye. Nice to see after the shit we've had the past few years.
Guess who's top 10?
So has there been enough time for Jermail Ashley to do anything yet as DL coach? Thoughts?
No not yet
supposed to get some nice commits in the next month. Interested to see what kind of relationship he can develop with Davillier.
I think everyone in this thread needs to take a second and thank the cosmos or God or whatever that we fired Jeff Long when we did.
If we hadn’t, I have no doubt in my mind that he would have tried to hire Les in 2017 when we fired Bret. If that had happened, Arkansas would be where Kansas is right now trying to hire a coach in March and probably at the same time trying to hire an AD.
It is so shocking to me that this didn’t happen to us and it makes me wonder if we are finally turning the corner....
This will always make me laugh
He ended up with 27 points, not 29 (error on the original stat sheet) but it's still a monster performance. He basically carried the team in game one.
Our corner of the bracket is wide open right now and we have better than an outside chance of reaching the Elite Eight
Eric Musselman built this team with transfers and freshman and an absolutely incredible work ethic from himself, his staff, and his team.
He took us from also ran to Sweet Sixteen in two years.
Pay the man
He will be able to name his price
concerning that he’s move around constantly
hopefully he wants to settle down
Yeah he's proven he can win here, but some coaches just like building things.
He might just be like Don Draper; liking the beginning of things.
Hopefully we can lock him up for a few more years
Seems like he said they love it there and he's tired of moving....I know he has to say it but I want to believe
you will most likely die of old age by next year anyway
Shut it smarty pants
The Muss family loves it here. Thankfully Fayetteville is a pretty liberal city and coach Muss is a psycho about basketball just like our fanbase. I think I mentioned it a while ago, but his contact automatically extends and his buyout increases when he makes the tourney, and the further he gets the more incentives he gets. But he’s about to get a fat raise and extension after the tourney. He knows it and so does Yurachek, they just don’t want negotiations to distract what is going on right now.
If he leaves it’s not going to be for more money
Pffft what a chode
This cracked me up.
Hopefully we can beat ORU so I can be there for the elite 8 on Monday. If anybody knows anybody with a spare ticket please let me know
We're going to do to them what UCLA did to Abilene Christian.
By gawd don't you jinx us you mother fucker
Just booked my plans to Indy with blind dog for Saturday
This is incredible how many times he missed on his points he was trying to make.
That will be a fun scene.
On a side note. Anyone hearing how football practices are going?
Haven’t really been paying attention. Saw some scrimmage stats but have been in basketball mode. We’re about to have a great week in recruiting though, and sounds like it might start with that big time 4* safety I posted in the recruiting thread.
can you pls start cross posting you lazy piece of shit?
Your fault for not following me around and liking every post of mine like a good boy
I have been hearing about this kid and apparently he’s a pretty solid pickup. How the hell did we get on a kid from Detroit?
Also I saw this on Twitter and it’s pretty refreshing.
Sam Carter is a good recruiter I guess
From what I hear, if you are working for Sam, you better be a hell of a recruiter or you better be updating your resume. One of the other.
Mother of god my heart can’t take these close wins but damn I can’t turn away either
I told the wife I was fine if we lost. I started smoking some wings which was a great idea bc I could yell and scream and not wake up the little guy on the other side of the house.
Honestly I was happy we made the tourney. Simple as that. To be going to the elite 8? Holy shit. That’s beyond every expectation I could have.
I hope Gallant Knight is blackout drunk right now.
I hope bertwing and blind dog are loving every second of their time in Indy. So jealous I am not there with them.
Oh and Devo FUCKING Davis. Holy shit that kid. We won that game bc of that kid. Plain and simple. The NBA bound Moody wasn’t hitting shots. Davis was.
W about 3 left, I commented that a 3 at the buzzer was going to win it.
My family made me take it back lol
Glad we won, but last two games were because the opponent missed their shot. Nervous wreck
Poured a thick glass of 26 maccallan in memory of our last elite 8.
Probably my favorite photo from any Razorback sports event in a while
I’m loving every minute of it. My liver and blood pressure? Nah bruh
BD was unable to make it but I’ve sent him naked snaps the whole time so he’d feel like he was here in person
