Some huge baseball news 1B Brady Slavens announced he’s coming back. Peyton Stovall, ranked #29 overall on MLB.com withdrew from the draft and said he’d attend Arkansas. I think he goes to 2B and Moore moves to SS unless Battles comes back for some reason. Varnado likely comes in and plays 3B. Wallace, Wilkerson, and Bohrofen should make up the outfield, and decent chance Welch or Goodheart mans the DH spot if one of them come back. Some very good young arms coming in and we should get some more good news on adding some more top flight depth soon. Next years team is more talented than this past seasons top to bottom. Vandy and Miss St have been hit much harder by the draft than we have.
And signees Max Muncey, Jordan Viars, and Drew Gray Battles didn’t get drafted, kind of a shocker. Still has leverage next season so I think he comes back

Disagree. Varnado has already said he is, and I bet Dixon comes to Ark… but the rest won’t have a spot. We are going to be stupid loaded next season, lineup and pitching staff. Goodheart will probably be told to move on too, which is insane to think about… but there just won’t be room for more talented guys that can actually play in the field too. We are likely going to be asking a guy like Stovall who turned down potential late first round money to DH next season to make it all work. Bishop will probably not have a spot anymore either, and he’s a top 2-3 round talent that had too high of an asking price and has some maturity issues. He was dead set on signing and when he plummeted to the 14th round he’s not going to get shit, so now he’s going to have to bet on himself and go to school… and I’d bet he ends up at JUCO
Anticipating TTU because they hired the assistant coach from ORU that recruited him to go there… but we had a zoom with him that went really well and we laid out how he’d be used here. He can either be the man on a decent team or be a really good player on a great team.
Former hog Ronnie Brewer joining Muss’ staff in a recruiting role Fun fact: he dropped 52 points on Bert’s HS team his senior year in only 3 quarters, which was a state record for points in a game at the time.
another example of the great minds guiding our state's policies. No, no, no, don't restrict it to just Arkansasans
Kevin Kopps signed with the Padres for 300k. Well below slot for where he was picked, but he’s also 24 and had no leverage and most of those kinds of players get like 30-40k. Shaddy got like 10k
Might be one of the all time great HS teams ever in Arkansas. Some stupid talent Hogview you better catch a game for me
Im a volunteer coach under Scotty. I was there in 19 but not last year since covid. I use to be a big deal back in the day :)
Couple years before my time. I played with Brewer and the rest of the Fayetteville crew so I was about 4-5 years behind you.
Weird to think how a lot of this realignment stuff was originally sparked by Arkansas leaving the sWc in 1991 or so. And yet if we hadn't, and things had continued as they were, we'd be in a position like TCU right now, stuck in a dying Big XII and destined for some AAC/CUSA-like conference.
indirectly, yes. same pod/ same conference slam dunks imo btw have the idiots who would scream we should be in the Big XII come up with anymore bright ideas?
we are never going to outrecruit OU or Texas so i'm not really concerned about that aspect of the merger
Hog baseball landed another stud transfer today. Will play either 1B or OF. Bohrofen and him will compete for playing time. Just an absolutely loaded lineup. He had a monster 2019 season https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=lanzil000chr
We also landed a really nice LB recruitbin Jordan Crook, previously committed to Ok State. Out of Duncanville TX which is a monster program. Our class is damn near full. We’ll leave 3 scholarships open for transfers.
