True. Fayetteville has improved a bunch but seems too commercial imo
Anyone going to Athens?
Fayetteville tailgating will never have hammered John Daly launching drives
Why do they play at two different places? I’m too lazy to read wikipedia
Dumbasses, thats why. But back in the day the largest stadium in the state and it had lights for night games was in LR before we expanded in Fayetteville.
What's the trigger for a game to be played in LR nowadays? Google tells me it's a 2 hour and 45 minute drive
If they're playing someone in-state I'd understand that.
war memorial in LR is a shithole but it gets rowdy and loud. It’s basically a concrete enclosure that holds around 50k people. We will not play another SEC game there after the current contract is up from my understanding… bertwing correct me if I’m wrong.
Big booster money in LR and stupid rednecks that don’t understand it hurts recruiting
coupled with us playing aggie in Dallas makes it even dumber
luckily we amended it to get the conference game out of there and its now just in state schools and a western carolina non-con game left. To run through 2025. We need to get out of that shit hole stadium that the clocks never work before the end of the 1st quarter.
I have a different take on it. The entire state loves the hogs, but the university is in the northwest corner which is inaccessible (practically) to the majority of people. It’s cost-prohibitive to go to a game for most people bc our state is pretty poor overall. Having a game in Little Rock gives a lot of fans an opportunity each year to go to a game and tailgate/have the live experience. It’s a great atmosphere. I like Fayetteville more for the record.
Little Rock (and surrounding areas like Pine Bluff and south Arkansas) used to churn out so many top tier recruits. A lot of them couldn’t afford to make the trip to Fayetteville on their own dime. Wasn’t the sole reason obviously, but it was a way to ensure those guys got to play in front of their family or make it to games on unofficial visits too as prospects.
the Little Rock school district is so fucked right now and the days of producing a handful of SEC caliber prospects are over. They still produce a lot of basketball talent, but the fall of schools like Little Rock Central has been sad.
The university gets no profit from concessions or parking, and can’t have in person contact with recruits or host officials since it’s off campus. We literally lose over $2 million each game we have there in ticket sales, parking, concessions. It’s the dumbest shit ever. Not to mention there’s always a few ACL casualties bc the turf is awful.
its expensive to go to games regardless of where it is. I’m okay with ONE uapb type game, but fuck having any conference game ever being played there again
you can drive to a game at WM from pretty much anywhere and still drive home. Spending a two night minimum at a hotel in NWA and eating out with family, tickets, etc is much, much more expensive. I agree, no conference games in LR.
I’m all for burls kids getting to watching games but fuck anything that fucks with recruiting
and $, and knees
and fuck catering to Stephens Media
This coupled w the roads back in the day. Everyone had to use a little two lane highway that was dangerous as shit, names the pig trail. One reason we were (are) so poor. Infrastructure still stinks but now have interstate and bigger safer highways
As someone who has lived in Central Arkansas for all but 5 of my 37 years, playing in LR in 2021 is ridiculous. It was ridiculous in 2011. It was ridiculous in 2001.
As soon as they finished the first Razorback Stadium expansion after I-540 was complete there was never a reason to keep playing in LR.
Don't talk to me about the drive. There are Tennessee fans in Memphis that drive to Knoxville half a dozen times a year. That's a much longer drive.
Driving to Fayetteville is a piece of cake and a breathtaking sight in the fall.
Before 540 was done and you had to take the stupid pig trail highway (before the airport in NWA and lights on the stadium), playing in LR made sense. Today it's beyond antiquated.
It gets loud sure, but the Texas game was louder than almost any LR game and I've been to almost all of them going back to 1995. Same for the LSU game in 2014 and the Texas 05 game and Bama 2010, etc.
When Nam is rocking it's just as crazy as Little Rock. Only difference is the tailgate atmosphere isn't as good there as it is on the golf course.
I liked your post but fuck off about the pig trail being stupid. I’m just gonna assume you worded it poorly that it’s a stupid time wise way to go. Bc it’s a motherfucking gorgeous drive in late October and will Pepsi challenge anyone about it
I agree the drive should no longer be an issue
Go away gubbs no one likes you
would it be funny if a certain person found out about donations ?
My only memories of it involve throwing up from car sickness as a child so my opinion is obviously cloudy.
All of NWA is gorgeous.
Thought you fellas would enjoy this. Congrats on the W.
One of calzada better passes
biggest nugget: AJ Green had never flown before the Dallas trip
Impossible to not love Pittman. Aside from this week, I hope he keeps crushing it in Arky. Just an all around great coach and great guy.
I read somewhere it cost us 300k to rent the stadium.
Wouldn’t shock me at all.
I know it at one point was more than that. I think the last contract waived it, could have been what was proposed and met at 300
Imagine being so entitled that you cry and demand a home conference game at an inferior stadium and then charge $300k for it too
don't have a conference game iirc
No I know not anymore but for a long time it was common. Played a bunch of Mississippi schools and LSU there
yes adn the LSU game was the Friday after Thanksgiving when campus was still out for break.
That was always a shit show
tailgating was fun and several of the games were bangers
2002, 2008, and 2010 were delightful for different reasons: Winning the West, ending the year on a high note, and literally everything about the 2010 game was amazing.
2006 was bonkers and frustrating all at once. Miserable game to attend.
I missed the betting last week and saw that Bert and Dump had one. bertwing what was the bet?
I didn’t have any bet with @dump… I’ll take Vegas’ money, not his.
Is that good?
not sure if it was 2020 or 2021 but at some point last season women's bball was top 10
Treylon Burks is the best WR in the country and will show it against the Bulldogs Saturday
Toll entered the portal again.
those East Arkansas kids are a total waste of time. Big reason why I don’t give a shit about McAdoo in this cycle. Unless they’re from Warren, don’t waste your time.
Seems odd but we're probably not winning another game this year so #yolo
Love Muss’ tshirt today….
He really is the best AD imo tyvm nfm
