Arkansas basketball is really good. Not sure how our football team sucking ass translates to our basketball team being good
This is hilarious and sad. You’re in the ARKANSAS thread bragging about a win? Hearty congratulations sir! Truly a proud accomplishment
I think he thought the thread title was about Pittman, somehow, and he's trying to backpedal Clearly it's Auburn's most embarrassing display today.
I ain’t gonna lie I have had a few and reacted to the thread title without thinking. Big L on my part though. You guys seemed to have loved Pittman but legit question are you guys still good with him?
I will add that I had a fantastic time in Fayetteville 16 years ago for despite the 9-7 Auburn win. My Houston Nutt criticism won over a lot of people on Dixon st and a lot of drinks.
Welp after last week it is $40 mil to get rid of Pittman & staff, so stuck for another year. We already are having funding troubles for the Bud Walton renovation. Why spend the 40 on football when the good products in baseball and basketball need it more.
If Pittman has any integrity he'll "retire" with a negotiated buyout. It's not like he needs the extra 20 milly.
Coaches contracts can't be that much. Coordinators are probably like $4mm combined (already fired one). The other guys are gonna have a 2 year deal so probably 6mm for them
If we can’t fire pittman because of his buyout then I think some serious questions need to be asked about yuracheck. I seriously just don’t understand why pittman even had a buyout at all. If you want to pay him $6m a season or whatever then ok I guess that’s the going rate for coaches. But there was no risk whatsoever of him leaving. And if he somehow did the so fucking what? yuracheck but a home run with muss. He didn’t hire a lot of the other coaches who are having success on the hill. he’s the 2nd highest paid AD in the sec. I’m sick of being terrible almost every single year.
I don’t think they fire him, if they plan to, until after the season is over. If he loses out then he may just “retire” anyways
We all knew in our heart of hearts that Gus would one day be the HC at Arkansas. It was just a matter of time.
Because Jimmy Sexton basically has a cartel going. No buy-out and you’re not getting one of his coaches. Nor will you be able to hire any assistants
I think you did, which is why you ended up w a 60 year old position coach who hadn’t even been a coordinator. iirc Pittman didn’t switch to Sexton until he got the extension
First, Pittman wasn’t a Sexton client when he accepted the head coaching role at Arkansas. He did however fire his agent to hire Sexton who got him the big raise and mid buyout. We did not offer or pursue Drink. We also had discussions with Deion but didn’t pursue or offer. Pittman is gone, and it’ll probably be another shit storm search because our football money folks can never get on the same page and there’s always a power struggle. Too many influential people are threatening to cancel tickets and donations unless Pitt is gone. Sexton isn’t going to let us off the hook for anything either, but it’s whatever.
You guys 100 % pursued Drink and offered. That is fact. You also gave Deion a token interview as a favor to someone. These are all sourced
Our old AD was going to hire Blake Anderson. The board of curators said fuck that and took over the search. They flew out to North Carolina to pitch to Drink. You guys were there too. Can’t remember who went first but there was a H2H thing for him between us. Maybe we made an offer you guys weren’t willing to match. Idk. But Arkansas was there and definitely made an offer.
Pretty sure the plane we linked to Hunter (I know…) which went to stops to interview Dion, Lane, Pittman, and Drink. However I think we all figured out Hunter wanted a contract with buyout terms that Drink wouldn’t even consider. At that point we moved towards Sam.
I really believe a lot of our idiot boosters think Gus is still the same slender, dark haired, turtleneck wearing OC that Houston Nutt was forced to hire in 2006. I don't think they watch football or they'd know that Gus is old, fat, grey, and washed up. That said, he'll win more than any coach since Petrino and that's probably enough to give him 10 years here
