My guess is it's more on the defensive side(Robb and Segrest), as B operates as more of a CEO and lets the coordinators run their sides of the ball.
wise is better as an undersized tackle and ledbetter is better as a defensive end. it took the coaches until game 10 of their senior years to recognize this. fun
In addition to making sure the organization is operating efficiently, also has to be concerned with operating effectively. CEOs can't ignore either. Whatever the issue(s) were or are, it falls to him, his desk, his responsibility
the most dumbfounding part of the entire season to me was that they couldn't figure out who their best five offensive linemen were until like week 7. how is that possible
good thing the big boss CEO wasn't aware of the issue. I'm sure he would have worked hard to resolve the issue as soon as possible
Good comeback on the road. What do we have to do to get to the tournament? Go like 10-6 in the sec or maybe 9-7 and win a game in a tournament?
We play 18 conference games. We'd need to go 11-7 in my opinion, and can't lose to LSU in either game remaining with them, or at Mizzou. 12-6 and we are safely in.
Thought Robb Smith's resignation letter confirmed what we all thought: “In reviewing this season we obviously didn’t meet our internal expectations on defense. To be perfectly clear, as defensive coordinator I take full responsibility for the results of the defense. In discussing solutions with Coach Bielema it has become clear we have philosophical differences on how to get better results. Given our differences, it seems in the best interest of everyone involved that I move on. I am grateful to Coach B for the opportunity he gave me and on behalf of my family want to say thanks to the many Rrazorback fans that supported and befriended us along the way.”
Oh it did, just thought that was a good article about defenses and how we're built to stop a pro offense when we don't face them anymore in our league. Adapt and change, sabans been forced to and we still haven't yet when we used to be pretty salty.
Tevin Beanum is quitting football, and it sounds like Khalia Hackett is going to transfer (which several of us thought would happen before last year)
Glad we got the Nance kid instead of Thompson. He had like 17 catches his sophomore year at a juco I'm sure he will make a big impact
Mississippi Gulf Coast CC has an offense where they run the ball nearly 75% of the time. 146 completions and like 390 rush attempts on the season. His teammate and 4 star Brandon Martin only has 23 catches. He not going to have an impact either?
We will see. I don't assume anyone will do anything based on a rivals star rating If Cornelius plays all 12 games I think he has 1200 yards
90% of my bitching is about wanting them to take Arkansas kids. Said I want Thompson and Norwood and it looks like they're heading to FSU and Florida
Why do you want so many Arkansas kids? Take the good ones. Let all the ones that get desperation offers elsewhere take them.
Because the good Arkansas teams were almost exclusively built off Arkansas and Texas recruits not two juco wr with a combined 35 catches I liked the blue shirt or whatever offer to the OL from Fayetteville. Apparently with this staff after a walk on lineman is on campus for 2.5 years and asks to start because the line is getting their shit pounded he will turn into a three year letterman
That doesn't mean that we should just give out scholarship offers to these kids. Thompson is a project WR, Norwood is tiny and we're gonna get a better corner in Chevin. Championing these Arkansas kids just because they're Arkansans is what gets the program in trouble and we end up with more Daytreon Dean's
What about the Drew Morgans? No chance Bert offers him had he not committed before he arrived at the U of A.
No clue on Storey he is behind another Allen kid. Gragg sounds like an entitled pussy, so I will give you that one for sure.
Storey is awful. My point is, you can find some good ones and I can find a lot more bad(at least in recent history). I understand the importance of getting the good kids in the state, and as bert posted last page, they're getting all the good ones.
Or the Jamal Andersons. Or the Tony Buas. Hell, most star players that have played here has been from Arkansas with the few exceptions.
Arkansas kids that never did shit for us from 2009-2012 vs kids who did Not shit: 2009- Rickey Hughey, Neal Barlow, Darius Winston, Austin Tate, Colby Berna, Turell Williams 2010- Alan Turner, Bryan Jones, Garrett Euckman (RIP) 2011- Davyon McKinney, Marcus Danenhauer, Grady Ollison, Demetrius Dean 2012- Defonta Lowe, AJ Turner, Jeremy Ward 2013- Korliss Marshall, Tevin Beanum, Alex Brignoni, Myke Tavarres 2014- Josh Liddell, Jake Hall, Jack Kraus, Juan Day, Did shit: 2009- none 2010- Braylon Mitchell, Zack Hocker 2011- Brandon Allen, Mitch Smothers, Bret Cook 2012- Jeremy Sprinkle 2013- Hunter Henry, Austin Allen, Brooks Ellis, Drew Morgan 2014- Bijhon Jackson That 2008 class was an anomaly, and loaded with talent with Joe Adams, Dennis Johnson, Tyler Wilson, Greg Childs, Jarvis Wright, Ryan Mallett. But, it wasn't without its fair share of reaches/busts with Jim Youngblood, Deanthony Curtis, Cruz Williams, Austin Eoff, Basmine Jones, Lavunce Askew, and Brian Christopher. Zack Stadther was decent, but had a really rough start to his career. A lot more misses than hits.
Jamal Anderson is a stupid example. You think we should just offer every 2 star offensive player in the state and hope they put on shit tons of muscle and switch to defense?
My point is a "project" player from the state shouldn't be passed just because of his star rating. And half of bertwings list is crap. Most of them had significant playing time. They may not have been world beaters, but a lot of those players played a lot of games.
Would move Darius Winston, Alan Turner, McKinney, Korliss Marshall, Tevin Beanum, and Josh Liddell to the did shit list.
Who were the multiple year starters that are actually good and don't/didn't play out of necessity? Liddell? Byron?
lol what the fuck did McKinney ever do? What did Korliss ever do except smoke half the weed in Fayetteville? Alan Turner and Darius Winston were two of the worst secondary players in Arkansas history in my lifetime. Beanum did what exactly?
Beanum played in every game of his career? Turner, Winston and Liddell all started multiple years. McKinney was on every special teams unit for three years and made plays there. Korliss played for two years and would've been amazing had he not smoked it away. Such a disappointment.
Turner started/played in 2013 on one of the worst teams in Arkansas history because Petrino didn't recruit defense, and the wasted year of recruiting under JLS Winston played less as his career went on, and had 5 total tackles his senior season with one career INT, and one career pass deflection. That's a five star Tevin Beanum started 8 games last year and had 7 TFL. He's one that I could def add to the did shit category, but walked away from football before his career was over for personal reasons. Wouldn't put him anywhere near guys like Philon, Flowers, Wise, or others that he's played with over the last 3 years that were much better. I'm not going to have a serious conversation about a special teams guy as having done shit in McKinney
