No one is saying he doesn't deserve criticism. You'd think a lawyer would research his arguments a little better
therefore 10-22 is acceptable? arkansas recruiting ranked 22 on rivals; kentucky ranked 18. on 247 they're 23rd and the hogs are 29. congrats bert you have made arkansas football equivalent to kentucky.
I'm not saying it's acceptable, I'm saying your comparison is stupid considering they've played completely different schedules. And comparing recruiting is stupid because rankings are all opinion.
I want to say Bert and Gus have comparable records the last 3(throwing out the shit show first season)
Look I understand the concern/perception right now. No one is happy with the on field results. I'm not trying to make this sound like I'm bragging, but I follow Arkansas HS football/basketball as close as anyone. Filling our class with a bunch of mediocre Arkansas guys isn't going to get us to the next level. Texas may not land a single recruit rated in the top 20 in their own state. They are scrambling like a motherfucker right now. I just wouldn't overreact to another P5 team making an offer in late January to fill their class. If it doesn't work out and the kid sucks, they can process him. Arkansas can't do that with kids instate.
ok he got to the national title game four years ago, beat us like a drum this season, and finished the year ranked in the to 25. i don't really know where you are going with this.
Because you compared B to Stoops based on their overall record. And I added in another coach with a comparable record, who happens to have some bigger accolades.
Or to discuss sign and place options, or to cut ties with him since he hasn't held up to his end of the agreement. Regardless, he's not going to make it. Feel free to continue bitching about it though if it makes you feel better
i honestly don't care about byers. became pretty clear there were some underlying issues there. but saban flying to fayetevile makes me think he is going to qualify. if he wasn't he would send an assistant or handle it over the phone.
this was posted on Rivals since 2002 we have the following 4* or higher at the LB and DB positions: LINEBACKER Otha Peters (4*, 2012) Austin Moss (4*, 2009) Jericho Nelson (4*, 2008) Jermain Love (4*, 2007) Van Stumon (4*, 2006) Lucas Jackson (4*, 2002) Marcus Whitmore (4*, 2002) DEFENSIVE BACKS Tevin Mitchel (4*, 2011); Rudell Crim (4*, 2009, Juco) Darius Winston (5*, 2009); Anthony Leon (4*, 2009, Juco); Kevin Thornton (4*, 2005); Michael Grant (4*, 2004); Vickiel Vaughn (4*, 2002) That is 14 four star recruits in the back 7 in the past 15 years. That's pathetic and a main reason why we've been pedestrian on defense since forever. With Montaric Brown in 2017, likely Chevin Calloway in 2017, and Bumper Pool in 2018 we are getting some good talent back there that will hopefully get our defense to a respectable level.
The LB's did for sure outside of Nelson. He was a hybrid safety that worked out well. We flipped him from fucking Purdue too. Anthony Leon was an oversized safety that sucked as a Jr, but was converted to LB as a senior and was great for us. Winston sucked obviously, and Thornton left early and had a good career at UAPB with 6 picks his senior year. The rest were good. Loved Crim and Grant
Hey Gallant Knight David Porter committed to Colorado State tonight after receiving an offer from Texas
oh, and our basketball team is hilarious. 15 point deficit with under 6 minutes to go on the road and we pull it off. Some cool stats from my buddy at hogstats.com Arkansas has now won 7 games this season that it did not lead at halftime (tied or trailed), most since 2000-01 (also 7). Also, Arkansas is 7-4 this season in games it didn't lead at halftime, after going 0-13 in such games last season. Dating back to last season, Arkansas is 5-1 in its last 6 SEC road games, its best 6-game SEC road stretch since February 1995-January 1996 (5-1, actually went 6-1 in a 7-game stretch). Arkansas is now 15-15 in its last 30 SEC road games after going 4-26 in its previous 30.
Yes. Still want BJ and Norwood as well Hopefully the recruiting retards are right about Calloway but not holding my breath
bertwing Ned Yocho How we look to finish recruiting? We gonna get any of the signing day announcers? Was it unexpected/gonna hurt the kid we lost to Oklahoma? I'll hang up & listen
And we apparently told Troy James to bounce because he lied to our staff about visiting OU. He texted our guys to say he was 100% Arkansas. James was decent. Not a huge loss just like Porter isn't a huge pickup imo
yep, first real non-disappointing NSD in a while. Pretty good class. Like 28th on 247 (last I checked) and 22nd on Rivals, and 26th on ESPN. Best secondary class since Lawrence Richardson and Batman Carroll like 17 years ago. Love the WR's we got in Koilan Jackson and Brandon Martin. Got some good OL, but not the numbers we needed in this class. I think both sides of the lines will be a focus in the next class and it'll be a smaller class that is off to a good start with both of our commits top 200 four stars. Hog hoops blew out Bama today too, which was nice.
Need to make sure to not take guys just to take them next cycle. That's what will make guys Bohanon interesring since the offer is as an ATH
I'm saying in terms of projects, borderline local kids, etc. There's limited spots in the next class, so every spot needs to be a hit
eh, there's some coaches that love projects or just want to offer everyone looking for the next JJ Watt or Ed Reed, and it rarely works out. They've got to find a balance between trying to shoot for the moon, and taking a bunch of projects. I think they did that this class. Last year they shot for the moon and got burned on NSD by their top guys with no fallback plans. Guys like Ryder Anderson are projects that have good measurables but would have likely never contributed here. Ole Miss ended up taking him after we dropped him
no, since those guys aren't scholarship players yet. I know there's always a few kids in each class that have that "shitty upbringing" story, but after learning of David Porter being homeless a few months ago and having a shitty home situation and still turning things around dramatically in the classroom and being a good dude, he just became one of my favorite recruits. so, good call on that offer Gallant Knight
