There's different forms and they don't always mean the same thing. I think grey shirts pay their own way for a year, whereas a blue shirt arrives in the summer and then is placed on scholarship when fall camp starts their freshman year and count toward the 2018 class. I could be making all of this up. I'm pretty tired
Greyshirt is when they go on scholarship 2nd semester, so first semester they're essentially a walk on Just looked up a blue shirt Blue shirt is a guy that wasn't formally recruited, which means they didnt take an official, host a coach, or was sent an NLI or written offer. They show up on campus during the summer, get a full scholarship, but count towards the following years' class.
and apparently we have 3 blue shirts who are 100% in and another who might decide to do it. not a fan.
Blue shirt isn't an automatic scholarship like a grey shirt is. They don't just get one upon arrival in the summer. Some situations it may be agreed that they're on scholarship right away, but just because you're classified as a blue shirt doesn't mean you automatically get one. At least that's how it's been explained to me.
well it sounds like that gabe richardson dude is definitely going on scholarship right away. it wasn't as clear with the henry kid and the lineman from fayetteville. one question i do have; are the walkons allowed to eat at the training table now and go to that athletics dining hall? i know in the past they had to have a meal plan, but did that change 1-2 years ago when the ncaa said unlimited food for athletes?
Yes all athletes that are on the active roster are able to have access to training table. I believe walk ons have to pay for the meal plans and scholarship kids are paid through as part of their scholarship.
Sounds like something will happen with Segrest today Footballscoop speculating some staff changes are coming sooner rather than later
Yeah as I posted in the SEC thread, that loss is inexcusable. I'm on board for a change when it comes to MA. There is too much talent on this team to lose to Mizzou, and his sub patterns and defensive philosophy yesterday was absolutely embarrassing. Imagine getting outcoached by Kim Anderson
Actually expected us to lose yesterday. Our RPI is completely misleading. The team just isn't very good
It can be, but that Bama game was literally the only time we played decent this season. Really disappointing season
Sucks because when he goes, looks like our current AD will be making the next BBall hire and so far he is very subpar in his hiring of coaches other than the track and field coach.
I don't get how you can say that though. They had a good night against Bama. Needed a ridiculous comeback to beat Vandy. And snuck wine at Tennessee and aTm. They're just not good. Yea the conference is bad, but that doesn't make Arkansas good
It's tough to win on the road all over the country There's more talent on this roster than most teams in the league. Moses has been terrible this year, and Dusty hasn't shot nearly as well as he did last year. Add Macon and Barford and this team should not lose to teams like Miss State at home and Mizzou on the road. I'm not saying they should be an elite 8 team, but they should most definitely be better than the current product. Moses averaged nearly 16 and 10 last season and Hannahs shot about 7% better from 3 last year. There's been some pretty significant regression.
I think you think too highly of the basketball team. Yea MA isn't that good, but it's not all his fault. I just think the team isn't that good.
I think it's obvious the team isn't good. I'm saying that I think they should be better with the talent they have on the roster when compared to a majority of the rest of the league. You disagree, that's fine.
A professional what? He certainly won't be on an NBA team next season. He declared for the draft last year and wasn't even invited to the combine. 70 other kids were
You don't have to have sure fire NBA talent on the roster to be a good team. There are several guys on the team that will play professionally, but it'll be overseas.
I mean only like 30 guys are guaranteed an NBA roster spot in the draft, and most prefer going and playing overseas vs the NBADL because they get paid more
I know all of this. When I said there isn't a pro on the team I didn't think I needed to qualify it with Moses can probably play in Ukraine for 80k a year.
Truman my nephew is being flown out to Edmonton for a private workout with the Edmonton Eskimos CFL team after having an interview with some of their team reps and James Franklin was one of the players that came to talk to him.
Correct, had over 5k rushing yards, 1k receiving, and 8k all purpose yards in his career. His little bro is likely going to be a D1 prospect this year. Was named to the Hootens top 50 in Arkansas this coming season
However if he makes the team and is looking to have a good time, Franklin is not the guy to hang out with. Nicest guy ever, but also probably the most boring D1 football player Ive heard of.
Last time I looked, Franklin was the back up to some dude I never heard of, but he got to play a lot due to injury. Kendail Lawrence an RB from Mizzou was on the team too. I think it was last season.
I haven't watched any b/c I don't care enough to pull up watchespn and I'm enjoying this Bama/USC game. Am I assuming correctly every Vandy 3 was uncontested?
