Seriously. Lets hope they get someone who isnt mailing it in everyday like him. Such a lazy corporate stooge. But Dave Obrien hire doesnt inspire much confidence. He's terrible. Would be better served getting some younger dudes from SB Nation or Bleacher Report.
Hopefully DOB has a similar path to Seth Emerson. Seth’s columns improved greatly when he didn’t have to rely on clickbait and flashy headlines.
Wasnt that long ago one of their talking points was giving talented writers a reprieve from having to produce video content. Will be interesting to see what they have in mind
I don’t think they are bringing in Keteyian for two minute videos. It would be cool if they did some stuff like the 30 for 30 shorts. 20-25 minute stories with some meat to them.
Must read article Canes4Life’: How Gerard Daphnis got his new kidney from an old Miami teammate https://theathletic.com/759331/2019...ot-his-new-kidney-from-an-old-miami-teammate/
IM sure you'll be able to get them on their app, but having to go to different apps to get your podcast will be annoying AF.
hope this does not mean their current podcasts on the the apple podcast app are going to get migrated over to the Athletic app
I noticed Custance podcast quietly stopped. This explains why. Sounds like they will be upgrading production. That’s a must. Two Man Advantage is a good listen but it sounds like high school kids produced it.
I didnt notice this until yesterday when Custance put up a new one. Agree on Two Man. Some times it's hard to listen too. A lot of static if one is calling in.
Me listening to the Cooper interview on 2man this morning was what triggered my post. But yea 31 Thoughts Production is basically the standard bearer of sports pod production.
Announced today that Mike Sando is leaving ESPN for The Athletic, as well. At this point I'm not even sure who else is out there. Kind of insane how things were so spread out not that long ago, and now 90% of the writers who matter are at one of two sites.
Can't imagine they have enough people going month to month to make this math work out. "Subscriptions cost $10 a month or $60 a year, though many customers have signed up at lower promotional rates. The site’s average annual revenue per subscriber is roughly $64, Mather said."
