Shaq killing the crowd but like how on earth do you get up for this shit if you are there. Pathetic performance
Name of the game next season better be load management, even if it means we have to give up a seed position or two. I don't want to see anyone with fucking torn meniscus, ACLs, MCLs, or bone bruises in the playoffs.
Hell of a season. It has been lot of fun getting back into this team the last few seasons and the future is really bright for this squad.
Fun entertaining run. Sucks that injuries caught up to us but that was all way ahead of schedule. Ton of assets to make this team even better. Go Phoenix Go.
Safe to assume we will be on national tv more often next year. Getting to watch 18 straight playoff games was NICE.
Honestly we may need to consolidate our team and trade a few guys for a star. We got too many guys if Reddish is gonna act like he’s Paul George.
There is certainly a trade out there for a disgruntled star. I still prefer running it all the way back until we find out what we really have in reddish and hunter.
My thing with Reddish is he’s barely a 30% 3P shooter for his career and doesn’t score effectively inside the line, either. He’s buoyed by a lot of his prep reputation, but has generally disappointed at both Duke and so far in the NBA. He’s young, no doubt. But are you willing to bet on him over Bogdanovic, Huerter, or Hunter? I’m not.
I suppose so. On the other hand, can you sell the youth angle and try to flip him and some picks for someone more established?
He was injured going into his rookie season and he's been mostly injured the entire time he's been a pro.
I’d bet on his upside over everyone but Hunter. cam was injured coming out of Duke, played for Lloyd, then got hurt before Nate could really develop him. barring injury, we have the deepest stable of wings in the nba going into next year. 4 guys with unique skill sets that we can use in a lot of different ways. the Collins question is fascinating. I think we will match whatever he’s offered, but I also kind of wonder what a stretchier , switchier 4 like Harrison Barnes, Pascal Siakam, Jae Crowder type would look with our starting 5. Not saying those guys would be dealt but it interests me those type of players to be locked in as the 4 on offense and be super versatile on D. I also cannot wait to see OO next year
Collins is my favorite guy in the league so obviously I’m always going to say we need to resign him. To me he’s the closest thing to Nique (without a handle) we have had on the Hawks. I think he makes another jump next season if he just dribbles all offseason. It’s tough to price deluxe role players like him but I know the team is worse without him in the lineup. We are capped out regardless going forward so I don’t really care about Tony Ressler’s money. I think Capela is the first one to go though once we are near the tax. Make no mistake about it, he was maybe the second most important player this year in the regular season. He can make your defense average almost by himself. But matching up against both Embiid and Giannis show that his defense is more suited to keeping wings and guards from the rim. He doesn’t hold up against a direct big man point of attack. Onyeka won’t be ready to be that guy in the first half of next year but I think he will by the playoffs. He looks like he will be a little more versatile on defense and has a much better touch around the basket. If Collins doesn’t come back though, you have to keep Capela because no one else on the team holds up on the boards (Hunter is weak there for his size). I can confidently say that I was able to see in person Cam’s best shooting game ever in his past and future career. If we do indeed want to consolidate players then I think he’s got to be a part of it when his value now after Saturday is probably high. We go two solid deep at every position (except for PG) with him healthy. I still think a Bogie/Cam combo could get us Zach LaVine which would make our offense even more devastating at full strength.
Part of me says yes and the other part sees Brook Lopez flying through the air for a one handed alley oop dunk. But I also don’t want to lose Collins.
it’s kind of market driven. I could see someone offering him 4/100. I know Miami, Dallas, NY have space, but he’s not a great fit any of those places. Who else has space?
That's not really a Collins problem imo. Capela is supposed to be our tough guy inside and he might as well have been on the side of a milk carton the last week. While Collins didn't put up big numbers this series, I couldn't help but notice he was really effective when he got the ball. I think we should probably up his usage. Which goes back to his complaint earlier in the year, when things go bad we don't really run any sort of offense. Saw some of that last night.
We kind of have to live or die by trae right now and that's ok. When he's off his volume/shot selection are likely going to fuck us. His finished form is getting to the line and have a fuck ton of assists while taking less shots on off nights.
The only guys that come off the books are John Collins, Lou Williams, Tony Snell, Solomon Hill, and (I think) Brandon Goodwin. So what you have FOR SURE at this moment (I'm leaving two-way guys out): PG: Young, Dunn SG: Bogdanovic, Reddish SF: Hunter, Huerter PF: Gallinari C: Capela, Okongwu, Fernando That's $93M committed for next season. The cap is projected to be $112M and luxury tax at $136M. I wouldn't be shocked if they offer Lou a deal at a cheaper price than what he was getting this year. Kris Dunn would be crazy to not pick up his player option. He ain't getting $5M AAV in the open market after being hurt all this season. So you turn to FA, trades, and the draft. Most mocks I've seen have the Hawks targeting a backup PG.
I bet Lou comes back. There’s a lot to be said for chemistry and just playing together. I’d like to run it back and see how we look during the early parts of the season. I bet we look pretty fn good (injury as the caveat)
I like him, I do think he brings a lot of intangibles to the team, but at the end of the day he's just not worth a max contract. I don't think he'll get one though so hopefully it's a moot point and we match a lesser offer.
Interesting to see Cam on here. Like that he will get development work might be most excited to see him and OO after a full off-season
While he does sound ridiculous, Trae has been hated by pretty much every coach and teammate he’s ever played with going back to college. LP hating him shouldn’t come as a surprise.
I could not imagine defending that tenure + resumé is more important than current merit + ability its a boomer mentality
