First round 1. Atlanta Hawks Zaccharie Risacher, SF, Bourg (France) | Age: 19.1 The Hawks casted a wide net through the pre-draft process, aggressively recruiting nearly every prospect in the lottery for workouts while also bringing in players projected outside that range, indicating the team is preparing for different strategies depending on what it learns and potential trade opportunities. While it appears the Hawks are far from making final decisions, many teams say their intel indicates Risacher remains the favorite at No. 1, partially because of the dual-track flexibility he offers of either remaining competitive next season or tapping into his upside as the type of big, versatile wing that is difficult to acquire outside the draft. The Hawks will bring Risacher in for a workout Wednesday, his first with the team thus far, which should help add clarity regarding his standing. The Hawks have been unable to bring Alex Sarr in for a workout to this point, but the door remains open for that to potentially happen. Clingan appears to be Risacher's main rival at No. 1. His workout -- where he shot the ball extremely well, showed surprisingly good passing ability operating out of short rolls and was impressive both in film study and in interviews -- helped his draft standing and makes him as possible sleeper selection here, as we've discussed for several weeks. The status of Atlanta's Trae Young is the big question hovering over the franchise. One option that has been widely discussed among teams is the possibility of the Hawks reacquiring their unprotected 2025 first-round pick from San Antonio (perhaps in a swap for the No. 4 pick), which would give the team far more flexibility for rebuilding. That would currently be difficult to fathom, with their next three draft picks (2025, 2026 swap rights and 2027) owned by the Spurs. The Hawks worked out Reed Sheppard last week and Clingan before that, two attractive options at No. 4 should they elect to slide back. Atlanta also brought in Matas Buzelis, Cody Williams and Ron Holland for workouts. -- Givony https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/st...-draft-all-58-picks-trade-talks-heat-30-teams
only chance I am moving off of 1 with the Spurs is by getting #4 plus 1 of the picks or the swap back. pretty much sold on Risacher at this point.
Seems like Sarr is out, and seems like there is interest in Capela on an expiring. I’d still trade Clint and Dejountae to No for Daniel’s and Ingram. I’d draft Risacher or Clingan And re sign Vit please.
I dont get it with Risacher. If Sarr doesn't want to come, I would like to see us trade for sure. It seems like Risacher and Clingan have enough interest from teams that we should get a good return.
Give me Risacher if we stay at 1 Clingan or Castle if we move back and find a way to get Hunter off the books. Capela on an expiring, so only move him if it brings back a nice asset.
It’s just impossible to acquire wings of his toolkit. OG just got 42 million. Mikal went for 5 firsts.
think we are going to run it back while reshaping the frontcourt prob smart to at least try and rehab value of the backcourt if the results are still way short
Won’t be a trade tonight but I’d be shocked if Capela is on the roster next year. I’d also think DJM and Hunter are less than 50% to be here. I’d be fine with Deandre coming off the bench
So here's where things stand: Ballhandlers: Trae Young, 26, $43 million in 24-25 Dejounte Murray, 28, $25.2 million Kobe Bufkin, 21, $4.3 million Wings: Bogdan Bogdanovic, 32, $17.2 million De'Andre Hunter, 27, $21.6 million A.J. Griffin, 21, $3.8 million Garrison Mathews, 28, $2.2 million (if they choose to pick up his option) Combo Wing/Forwards: Jalen Johnson, 23, $4.5 million Zaccharie Risacher, 19, $12.6 million Bigs: Clint Capela, 30, $22.2 million Onyeka Okongwu, 24, $14 million Mo Gueye, 22, $1.8 million Bruno Fernando, 26, $2.7 million (Non-Guaranteed) They have 4 RFAs they could offer or let walk: Saddiq Bey Dylan Windler Vit Krejci Seth Lundy Point being: They're already at $199 million (Cap is $141 million) in Total Cap, which would not only put them over the 1st Apron, but also the 2nd Apron. There's no way they don't make moves.
They aren’t at $199M. It’s $175M. They can trade either Capela or Hunter and get under the first tax line $171M (barring no salary back) as well as sign Krejci (at a reasonable salary). That puts them at 14 players so needing a vet to plug into that last spot. Saddiq Bey is probably not going to be resigned with Risacher coming in. I don’t see how they will stay under the first tax line because there are just not many teams that can take in salary and not give any back. Ressler will just have to forgo his $12M luxury tax payment this season.
Trae is our actual issue. He needs to either figure it out or we blow it up entirely. if the DJM market had an obvious suitor Id be game to do it now, but youd be selling at a huge loss.
We paid cash to move up and get our guy for the second year in a row. all those tax breaks and luxury tax checks burning a hole in our boys pocket.
Lakers 2025 (garbage pick) Bucks 2027 (garbage pick) what a disaster, never should have moved him (or traded for him).
Lakers 25 could be good. West is insane and lakers are 1 injury from being in the lottery. maybe we learned our lesson on wings?
Is there any direction at all right now? This entire “project” seems like a case study in throwing shit against a wall, and shockingly, none of it sticking.
I am kind of like at least we did something, but I don’t know probably better to just have run it back without having our own 1st next year
the only way it gets back on track is Trae not being who he has been his entire career. But perhaps Trae gets back on track + functions better with a stout frontcourt (and just never functions with an elite SG next to him). Spoiler but lets be honest, he ain't it. It was a fun season or two. The Doncic trade failed. and the sooner Ressler's son swallows his pride and owns up to the mistake...the quicker we can blow it up properly.. or maybe some mythical Free Agent finally hits the market and we become a destination
The numbers with Trae and literally anyone in a hawks jersey were light years better than Trae and DJM together. get length and shooting around him and you are probably out of the play in. If OO is in the starting line up, you also maximize Jalen
This is kind of where I am. We were so small and slight 1-3 last 2 years. We learned all the wrong lessons from 2021-2022
