Cleveland getting the full Deandre Hunter experience this series. A good game, an injury and then 5 points and 5 fouls. if we actually do something with the bench this summer we will have won the trade
Looks like we end up losing the 14th pick from the Murray trade. Not too bad. Wouldn’t mind using the lakers pick to move up but glad to be holding a lottery pick still.
13/22 what do we do with our off-season keep Lavert? can we move Mann and picks to get anything worth a shit ? obviously need Dysons offense / shooting to uptick and need ZR to have a good off season
Yes and No. That was the part of the bogi trade that was shitty shit, taking on Mann's contract. use the trade exception to get a capela replacement and then add as many 3pt specialists as possible. I really like the Jase Richardson mock.
I want Stephen Adams as our number 2 big and Nance brought back as 3rd big / spot match up shooting 5. agree on shooting. Watching the pacers and Knicks in so jealous of their roster construction. Defensively challenged, offense first point guards, who are surrounded by wings who can shoot and defend and are long. Pacers just keep signing and drafting dudes like mathurn, Nesmith, nemhard, etc Knicks get bridges and OG.
Seems more likely he’s involved in a trade for Giannis than ending up here but that would seem like a great fit.
Wonder if we could pry Malik monk from Sacramento for Terrance Mann and a pick. Would save them money if not we go Thomas Sorber at 13 and Coward at 22 Still not sure what to do at back up 4. If we take Sorber I think you just re sign nance and those are your bigs. If you don’t take Sorber, I wonder if we could get Steven Adams to play 10-15 min, esp in certain match ups. Then you take a wing and a point guard or a guard and a 4 with the picks I’d still like to grab KD as a distressed asset from Phx, insert him as the 3 for 25 min a game with Trae and let ZR cook off the bench but even with the dejountae trade exception, Mann and some flotsam I can’t get the money to work unless it’s a hypothetical sign and trade Capela or Lavert. KD played like 45% of his minutes at the 5 last year, and Trae / Jalen would make his life so easy but it’s a long shot.
I don’t see anyway that Monk/Trae backcourt would hold up so tough to bring him in. Sac would expect more for him anyway. Durant isn’t coming in unless Jalen is in the deal. JJ, Mann and Niang work and maybe a protected first. Don’t think I would do it though even though it would make us better in 25/26. I’m still holding out hope for a Horford ATL reunion for his last season. Have no idea in the draft but would like to take a chance on Asa if he is available at 13. He can play in the G League for the majority of the next two seasons. Maybe trade the Lakers pick with the Murray TPE to bring in a rotation player.
Monk strictly a bench guy for us IMO. We just fall to shit offensively when Trae sits unless it’s a night where Niang hits 5 3s I love the theory of Bufkin but he can’t stay healthy
would like him a lot. I don’t love trading up in this draft, maybe if Trey Johnson or Knuppel fall but I don’t see it, I definitely don’t love trading up for a big. People get excited about Maluach but he had zero rebounds against Houston. He’s basically young Clint Capela. If he falls cool, but a guy with zero offensive game isn’t worth a trade up in my mind. I’d rather take 2 bites at the apple in the draft rather than trade up for one guy. Now if a pick and Mann and a trade exception get us a real nba player im good
I feel ya. I do think Maluach is who they will try for. Also would be cool with Fears or Richardson at 13 if possible. I really just want all the backcourt 3pt shooting to atone for the Bufkin pick.
Malauch feels like a “Ressler makes the call” type pick to trade up. shit Dallas has a glut of centers now, see if you can get Gafford Going 0-2 so far on AJ Griffin and Kobe sucks. Maybe Kobe is healthy at some point. Some flashes on ball have been really nice
Yeah I think Clayton could be a good fit but a Vet PG doesn’t shock me at this point because back up PG seems like it’s been a weakness for awhile
Even worse for me, if he had just stayed another year at Auburn he would have been on the Kessler/Smith Jr team and we would have been unstoppable. What’s crazy is he’s still only 23/about to turn 24.
Yeah kind of looking for info on both. Guess Onsi is the lead dog for sure which seemed like the way it was going anyway. would like to keep Korver around Would like Nick Ressler to get hit by a fucking Marta bus
New Orleans for all their problems have drafted really well and if they want to dump a few of their guys I want to be first in line with the guy that knows them the best
Either this is going to be a complete disaster and they all answer to Tony and Nick or those 2 dipshits are finally getting out of the way.
id take Jordan Hawkins off their hands right now for Mann and 22 I don’t know the FO structure of other teams but it seems like we just have a crowded ass office there. ESP when the owner and his failson are involved
I was thinking Thibs making Trae Young serviceable on D and what he would do with our wings like Risacher and Dyson.
make no mistake, he’d make us instantly better and actually ran a solid O featuring a small PG. I just post gratuitous nick slander
The pre-60 win team that took the Pacers to the limit in an 8/1 series is almost always forgotten but the arena was on absolute fire for that series. Game 6, when they gave us all the old pacman logo shirts, was a madhouse until we collapsed down the stretch. The Mike Scott dunk on Roy Hibbert my gawd.
Man, just went down the list of late 1st/2nd round draft picks during the "we'd rather get some cash" Atlanta Spirit era. What an embarrassment. 2004 - #34 Donta Smith (2.7 PPG, 9.2 MPG career), #37 Royal Ivey (3.3 PPG, 12.5 MPG career), #42 Viktor Sanikidze (0 NBA games) 2005 - #31 Salim Stoudamire (8 PPG, 17 MPG career), #59 Cenk Akyol (0 NBA games played) 2006 - #33 Solomon Jones (3 PPG, 11.9 MPG career) 2010 - #24 Damion James (traded to Nets) (39 total NBA games played), #53 Pape Sy (7 total NBA games played) 2011 - #48 Keith Benson (3 total NBA games played) 2012 - #23 John Jenkins (5 PPG, 12.8 MPG career), #43 Mike Scott (6.7 PPG, 16.5 MPG career) 2013 - #18 Shane Larkin (0 games Atlanta, 5.5 PPG, 19.1 MPG career), #47 Raul Neto (0 games Atlanta, 5.7 PPG, 15.6 MPG career), #50 James Ennis (0 games Atlanta, 6.7 PPG, 20.3 MPG career) Nobody drafted random Euro players drawn out of a hat to save money like your Atlanta Hawks.
OK guys, season is over and there is some smoldering wreckage in front of us in the east with achilles injuries galore. Looking at the off-season I want to see where you guys heads are at. My thoughts on needs *Back up C *Secondary Creator/Ball Handling *More shooting *Back up 4 (though I am trending up on Gueye) Early thoughts: I don't love going into the season with a rookie as a back up 5. Centers are generally bad as rookies and if Trae is our PG I am not crazy about having a rookie as the last line of defense. I also think you have to look at the splits for ZR when OO moved to the starting line up and he just had so much more room to work. Jalen's splits have always been crazy with OO bc Jalen can be in the dunker spot or be the roll man for Trae and he is a fucking nightmare in the short roll when teams blitz trae. If a lumbering 5 is in the way, everything clogs up. So with that said, if I had my way. I'd use bird rights to sign Caris LaVert for 3/45 or so, I'd probably be willing to go to 3/50 and use the MLE to sign Luke Kornet who was solid on D and provides good shooting. Then you can draft someone at 13/22 or re-sign Nance to be the #3 C. I'd also take a look at Brook Lopez or even Al Horford if I could. Wild card at Center would be calling Dallas and seeing what they are going to do with Gafford. If you do not have to go center in the draft and can go BPA, I'd love to go some combo of Cedric Coward, Carter Bryant or Coli Murray Boyles at 13, and at 22 go with Walter Clayton Junior, Jase Richardson, Liam McNeely or Jakaunis. Nique Clifford also intrigues me here. Of the center prospects I could be talked into Sorber or the frenchman. I am very out on Derick Queen or trading up for Malauch. I think guys like Chris Paul and Malcom Brogdon will be able to be had for Vet minimums and I think if you use the draft to find a center, you can go MLE for a Quentin Grimes, or Tre Jones to help the back court. Should be a fun year next year if we can get some injury luck. Thoughts?
Read an article this morning about using our trade exception to land a pretty good player. It mentioned Kuminga and Naz Reid.
Bill Simmons had an interesting one that sent Jrue Holiday to Phx, Royce O’Neal to Boston and Dillon Brooks to Atl into our exception. I wouldn’t hate it. Kuminga would be a bench guy, is he happy doing that? I don’t believe Minnesota will let Reid walk
Please lie to Tony and tell him he gets tax rebates for the gulch if he uses all avenues to improve the hawks
I agree that the back-up C should be filled with a vet either by the MLE or TPE. Would love for Horford to be that guy. Would love Chris Paul too but he’s going to stay in LA no matter the $$. Re-sign LeVert for starting at no more than the MLE and 3 years. I have no idea about the draft this year with our picks and flatness of the prospects after the first 7-8. I do really want Coward at 13 though just because of his freak wingspan, strength and shooting. Quin can figure out something to make that man a contributor. But one pick should be for a wing/PG and the other a developmental big man to put in the G League. Whatever is left over between the TPE and MLE under the tax line just get a good vet rotation player. Not really picky on the position. Looking over the roster now. I would say that the Hawks (if LeVert is brought back) have 6 playoff rotation quality players (and that’s with projected better play from Rizz who completely collapsed in the play-in). Really need to come out of the offseason with 9 and that is possible with the tools in the shed. Players like Mo and Vit are nice but I just want them filling injury minutes during the regular season. Also Mann might surprise with a training camp to be one of the 9 but my lasting impression of him was watching Banchero bully him around in Orlando in person.
