was at the game today. If you ever get the chance to see Giannis in person, please do it, he didn't even play great and had 31. Collins didn't play well but he's still a double double at any point. I love him so much. The "Trae - T - L" thing is annoying. Trae can be the 4th best player on a playoff team. Huerter can be the 5th. Bembry and Prince are fun at times.....think they'd be good bench guys. The rest of the roster is garbage. Lin and Vince might as well have been playing for the bucks. The draft is crucial as is Huerter and Young taking leaps next year.
Putting 70 on OkC with so much out is unbelievable. We got some young talent once they figure out how to stop turning the ball over.
Have never bothered voting for the All-Star game but I'll be pissed as fuck if Collins doesn't make it, voted max times already today.
Hard not to be excited about the young guysin games like this. Huerter I’m sorry for ever questioning you.
I love our young guys, I’d love to get Baze/Dedmon and Lin off the roster so we can just give the young guys all the minutes. Need to hit on another in this draft
Wolken our here comparing Huerter to Klay. Man it’s crazy how much he improved once he got some confidence.
Who should we take with an assumed top 3 pick? I feel like Chicago/NY is tanking for Zion but I’m not sure he’s the best NBA prospect. I feel like we are full of forwards anyway. RJ Barrett is the guy I feel like right now I want, but if we are at 1 or 2, Zion would be tough to pass on. Seeing him and Collins playing together would be fun.
So much this. Supposedly Sacramento is trading for Lin. Baze would be a great piece on a lot of teams.
Top 3 pick at this point is unlikely. We are winning way too much. Trae already tied for 4th In 20/10 assist games as a rookie but he sucks
Yeah we aren’t even a bottom 3 seed in the East now and are trending upward while the bottom 3 are still trash. If you have a tank dream give it up and start rooting for these guys I guess.
Anyone watching this game? Smart caught his second technical and then tried to charge Bembry and got elected.
Shams: The Hawks have engaged with teams on veteran players Kent Bazemore and Dewayne Dedmon, but also have discussed forward Taurean Prince, league sources said. In his third season, Prince is averaging 14.1 points and 4.1 rebounds. Also worth monitoring: guard Tyler Dorsey. Dorsey chose to play for the Hawks’ G League affiliate, Erie, last Wednesday in order to receive more playing time and repetition on the court. Dorsey posted 36 points, 13 rebounds and five assists in 43 minutes in a victory for Erie, using the G League to showcase himself ahead of the trade deadline.
Trae Young shoots 1/12 and was easily the 2nd best player on the court. Absolute passing clinic tonight and made John Collins life easy. Collins becoming a 3 pt sharp shooter this season is a nice surprise.
I love our young pieces. I’d love to dump Prince, Baze, Dedmon and Lin to just force feed the young guys minutes
Wouldn’t want to give up anything but our olds for him. If Bud wants Lin, Dedmon or Bazemore he’s young enough and athletic enough to take a flyer on. His efficiency and shooting have improved.
Hawks really don't want a lottery pick this year. They are kicking the shit out of the bottom half of the league.
Collins got hosed on his first dunk attempt in the contest, but him breaking part of that big Wright Brothers plane model absolutely killed me. That was one of the strangest and funniest things I've seen in the NBA.
Is there any consensus on where we go in the draft? Seems like Zion is the consensus #1 and we're going to be too good for that absent some lotto luck. We're definitely out on Morant because of Trae. Barrett or Reddish seem the most likely option. I think Barrett is my clear cut choice of those 2 - Reddish disappears in a lot of games but arguably has the higher ceiling - I could see arguments for Reddish but I think Barrett is the better pick. Nas Little and Romeo Langford are probably next up for me in the unlikely event whoever is picking ahead of us takes all of Zion, Barrett, and Reddish. I see a lot of mocks having the Hawks taking a 5 like Jaxson Hayes but I don't see sinking high draft capital into a center as consistent with what they're building right now.
A lot of people think Reddish will be a much better pro than college. Definitely seems like his game is built for the pros.
I think going to Duke was a bad decision for him (not that being picked in the top 5 can ever end up being a bad decision). I feel like he would shine more on a team where two other guys weren't putting up insane usage numbers.
Culver is the one guy that does not excite me at all. I think he'll be a solid pro but would rather swing for the fences with our pick and use Dallas' pick to pick someone safe (Deandre Hunter plz)
I listened to Shlenk on Woj's podcast the other day and came away encouraged that he has a plan. I'll never think passing on Luka was a great move but he said their analytics had Dallas as a lottery team this year so they felt the value of 2 lottery players was better odds at a star than 1. He said if Dallas didn't offer a lottery pick they would have I want to see Trae with more play makers on the wing. As good as his shot has been, I think his best skill is actually his passing. He throws guys open in a startling manner. Most mocks have us picking at 4 or 5 with our pick and 8-10 with Dallas' pick. I'd be cool with a Cam Reddish and Nasir Little combo. I've also see Keldon Johnson from Kentucky as a pick. I think our bigs outside of JC are garbage so I am not sure if the plan is to keep John as a 4 and bring in a 5? I also wonder if the way Trae and JC are playing convince Shlenk to dabble in the free agent game a bit. I don't see them going after big fish, but do you throw an offer out to Khris Middleton or a Bohan Bogdanovich?Willy Cauly Stein as a defender/ rebound / rim runner guy? offer Middleton 3 for 50? We have the money to do it and still develop the young guys....I know it'll be a lot of fun and I like the trajectory the franchise is on.
It's also a great draft to need a wing and a bad draft to need a PG (and that was pretty well known last year - No one really saw Morant coming). I'm still upset we let Luka go but its frustrating that the argument is always "Luka vs. Trae" and not "Luka vs. Trae + another lotto pick" We do need to hope and pray that the Mavs don't sneak into the top 5 this year (unlikely but possible), as I don't think they'll be a lotto team next year with Luka and Porzingis and that pick will plummet in value if it doesn't convey this year.
WCS would be perfect for this squad. Perfect rim protector that doesn’t require that many offensive touches. Reddish or Barrett would be a really good compliment to Huerter and Prince depending on the lineup of choice.
Trae will be the best passer in the NBA during his career. I dont think that should be surprising considering his vision, his ability to throw the ball across the court with both hands, and his ability to get in the lane. He would be averaging closer to 10 assists a game if we had more shooters that could hit the wide open shots he creates. Right now teams are doubling him and picking him up as he crosses half court and he is still producing at high levels. Imagine when we get more talent around him.
I'm still not even sure Schlenk and crew are that high on Zion because of his shooting, but I'm very intrigued at how his ability to get to the rim would combine with Trae's shooting and playmaking. I've all but given up on getting Zion though.
How does the Euro game prospects look this year? We probably need a center to pair with Collins if we aren't going to keep Dedmon longer term.
