Bailey is too much like Collins to me. I really hope MPJ ends up with a clean bill of health and kills the workout.
No thanks on Porter Jr. Risky pick with back injury. Not even sure what his position would be. Def not a 5. Doesnt appear athletic enough to play the 3. Could be a 4 if the perimeter game develops but not sure if he plays physical enough to defend in the post.
Holy shit man. Really unsettling to read that and go to his page and just see him tweeting like normal yesterday. Saw this tweet from Martin Rickman earlier today but couldn't figure out what the origin of it was:
Increasingly think this should be our pick. In my view he's got the highest ceiling in this draft and if his back checks out I want KD lite.
Double posted so I'll edit it with another thought: My completely uneducated guess is that at this point, we have a deal to move down somewhere from 4-6 on the table and have let those guys know that if Doncic isn't on the table, we'll pull the trigger draft night. Problem is that I don't see anyone really before Cleveland in the draft in win-now mode and picking 8 puts us right about where talent falls off a cliff. Pray for Doncic.
hope the pick is Doncic but starting to seem like the Woj bomb was a smoke screen to draw interest in the #3 pick and have us move back to draft Trae Young
Athletic Final Mock https://theathletic.com/398387/2018...ic-vs-marvin-bagley-iii-provides-early-drama/ 3. Atlanta Hawks: Luka Doncic, Real Madrid For the most part, Atlanta has played the draft process tight to the vest. Before the lottery, NBA executives said the Hawks had been high on Bagley all year. If the Kings select Doncic, I’d simply just move Bagley down to No. 3. The team is also thought to be high on Trae Young, but apparently even the Hawks think he would be a reach at No. 3. With as much draft capital as any other team, including the No. 19 pick, the Hawks have the ability to maneuver around the board as they see fit to get the players they want. The big question remaining for them: Would they use the No. 3 pick to potentially collect a king’s ransom from another team, or simply select Luka Doncic or Jaren Jackson Jr. for themselves? If that ends up being the strategy, Doncic is currently considered the favorite — although some executives believe the team could be playing that up publicly in order to increase trade interest in the pick. If they did keep him, he’d be a tremendous building block for an Atlanta team that doesn’t really have much in the way of potential long-term pieces outside of John Collins and Taurean Prince. But right now, the sexier question is whether or not someone below the Hawks blows them away with an offer. I wouldn’t rule it out. 19. Atlanta Hawks (via MIN): Robert Williams, Texas A&M This would be a bit of a fall for Williams, but once you get beyond No. 15, it’s hard to find a spot for a true center. Williams has a higher upside as a pick-and-roll dive man than any other prospect in the class. He skies far above opponents with his pogo-stick leaping ability and 7-5 wingspan, but he needs to improve as a screen-setter. Williams also needs to improve his motor. Even he will admit it ran hot and cold during the season. But the open space of the NBA game figures to help him, and he’d be a great flyer for a Hawks team in need of — well, everything — to take at this spot. It’s worth noting, too, that this pick is absolutely in play for a trade, as the Hawks consider the potential of moving up to consolidate some of their draft capital. 30. Atlanta Hawks (via HOU): Elie Okobo, Pau-Orthez Okobo is one of the fastest-rising prospects in the draft after a breakout 2018 season that culminated with his dropping 44 points in the French league playoffs on the league’s defensive player of the year, Aaron Craft. Over his last 20 games, Okobo has averaged 15.9 points and 5.3 assists while posting a slash line of 54.7/48.9/83.1. Okobo needs to improve defensively, but he has a 6-8 wingspan and teams are optimistic about his potential there as he continues to fill out. He has an NBA-out in his contract, and executives expect him to be in the league next season. The Hawks would be ecstatic to see him fall in their lap, as he could end up going much higher than this. 34. Atlanta Hawks — Moritz Wagner, Michigan: Above, we have the Hawks selecting Doncic, Williams and Okobo. While Wagner might seem redundant with Williams positionally, they have entirely different skill sets. Wagner is a smooth-shooting, offensive-minded center who figures to be a solid rotation player.
I really want Doncic, but if some other team has stars in their eyes and is willing to give up a stupid amount of assets to get #3, I won’t be angry
If we do trade back I hope we grab Michael Porter instead of Trey Young. Both guys are a gamble but I think Porter has the better upside as a franchise player. I think Trey Young has a good chance to be a good player but if Steph Curry wasn't in the league, Young would not be looked at as highly IMO, and Steph is a type of player you can't really replicate.
Where do these mocks have Sexton going? Need to see how I deal into that spot. That said, I would love Williams at 19.
for a while most thought was Clippers wanted Sexton (they def want a PG if they dont package 12 & 13 to move up) now looks like Hornets at 11 for Sexton....and then a run on Lonnie Walker, Shai G-A and Trae Young the wildcard.
I'd rather have Sexton than Young but think he'll be gone by the end of the top 10. Would love Williams at #19.
What could we package to get into the top 10 to get Sexton? I’d love Luka, Sexton, Prince and Collins as building blocks.
I don’t think Sexton is considered a good enough shooter for this guy from GS to pick I’d love him though
#19 and #30 combined with taking a dead weight money contract, would that be enough? That said, Luka and Collins with Prince and Williams in the front court sounds good too.
Agreed, I’d be happy with either of those outcomes. From what I’ve read on Shlenk, he’s not going to make quick fix moves to get out from Bazemore or Schroeder’s money. I imagine him letting those guys play out the string and maybe dumping them as expirings down the road.
I think we will move that Cleveland pick next year between the 2019 draft class looking terrible + Cavs possibly going into rebuild mode
Fuck that. We have a shot load of cap room and aren’t getting a stud FA anyway so who gives a shit about Bazes deal. That’s an Atlanta Spirit move
If we draft Luka and then trade him in order to get Trey Fucking Young... Maybe Dallas includes DSJ? loljk
