Looks like the full rebuild is in effect. Curious to see what direction we go. Building around Schroeder, Prince? We really don't have a ton of building blocks. We'll probably let Baze's bad contract play out as it will expire around the time the team becomes competitive again. And we'll likely resign THJ against the wishes of most fans. If Milsap walks as is expected (and as much as I hate to say it, is the right move for both sides) we should start taking on bad contracts for future assets.
I could buy that for JC. Bit smaller than Bosh, but similar offensive games with offensive-minded approach.
Dorsey was a guy Bud had said in interviews he wanted after attending the Kansas-Oregon game in KC. We got better on offense last night.
I don't know. The east is so bad. What's amazing to me is that our window closed so fast. I think if Thabo doesn't get his leg broken by NYPD we would have had a chance to go really deep that year.
I dont mind blowing it up and rebuilding, time it for the refurbished Arena. What I mind are the assets we got in exchange for the core Teague = Taurean Prince Korver = Late 1st Rounder Demarre = Nothing Millsap = Moving up ~20 spots in the draft Horford = Nothing Today is a bad day because of what we left out there
How would you have done it over? Obviously we have hindsight on free agents that have panned out - not that they wanted to play for the organization. I just cant fathom letting Horford and Millsap walk. Either commit to them or salvage them for future assets at their deadlines. Then the Dwight thing is the real kick in the nuts. But suppose we are watching a different plan executed this week than of the past 2 years.
It's like you said, max them and hang out around 50 wins or dump them for 1s, expiring contracts or young players. Letting Carrol go was fine, I think we won the Teague trade and I'm more bullish on Schroeder than most. Getting nothing for Al and Paul plus signing Dwight (and taking a shitty contract to dump him) is what sucks
If JC continues to knock down the jumpers like has has been....then we have a future all star. His rebound ratio is the most surprising thing to me. Have to keep telling myself its just summer league.
I'm definitely buying stock in the future All-Star idea. I never really got to see him at Wake Forest, but damn this dude can ball.
2018 is a loaded draft and the top 3 prospects might be the best group we have seen in a long time.Well you have Michael Porter who was the #1 in the 2017 class, Bagley who was #1 in the 2018 class until he just reclassified to the 2018 class, and Doncic a guy who has basically been called the best Euro Prospect ever all in the same class. A lot of people put Bagley as the best prospect since Lebron or Anthony Davis. 6-11, elite athlete and basketball skills. Doncic has been playing for one of the best sides in Europe for years. 6-7 guy that can play PG. https://www.theringer.com/2017/7/20/16077958/nba-draft-luka-doncic-real-madrid-f534e7428bf6 Porter is similar to Bagley and probably more developed at this age, but not the athlete.
I just mean we better do it better than everyone else that will be. Bud can win us some games we probably have no business winning and let's not do that.
Just have to embrace it at this point. Finding the positives in what we will come out with on the other side makes it more palatable. Timing is right with the Arena renovations.
The lottery still seems like a shitshow if you're wanting one of the top 3 picks unless we're dead last.
The Bazemore contract is terrible. He scores 7 points as a starter on a night the team scores 117. On the plus side, John Collins looks promising.
