https://www.sbnation.com/2018/1/12/...nets-pick-2018-nba-draft-improve-wings-inside Got really excited at the first option, but Collins seems legit and the Nets aren't as bad as people thought. If we could include Schroeder instead of Collins I'd do that in a heartbeat, but Schroeder + Baze salaries are too big to make the deal work. Collins was a steal but is his upside as good as a guy we could take in the lottery? Four first round picks (one and more likely two lottery) and a high second in this draft though? So tempting.
If you can turn Collins into Ayton or Bagley and get rid of Bazemore’s retarded contract you may just have to do it Doncic And Ayton or Bagley would be fucking amazing.
Do it, do it, do it. Let's make a deal. Late night Phoenix and Clipps losses were so bad on the road trip
Problem is that the Nets could easily be closer to the 7-10 range than the 1-5 range. Tough to tell at this point, since so many teams are clustered toward the bottom, but the Nets have no reason to tank while other teams do. At that pick, you have a little more risk (I think the consensus is that the "Top Tier" is about 5-6 deep). A quick view of mocks has Cleveland taking Kevin Knox, Collin Sexton, or Jaren Jackson with that pick. In any event, it's just a hypothetical and I expect the Cavs to hold on to the pick because I think the writing is on the wall with LeBron. It's just fun to talk about during a season without much else to discuss.
All about upside. Collins is a good player and I think he's going to be an NBA starter for a long time. Question is whether the team would rather have a known commodity who might have "above-average starter" upside for a chance at a player with "perennial all-star" upside, while also getting rid of Baze's bad contract. The Hawks have, for a long time, made the playoffs with a bunch of John Collins quality players. I think the idea behind gutting the team this year is to aim higher than that.
Yeah we have a huge issue attracting stars. So if we have a shot through the draft we have to take it. 2 stars makes atlanta and more attractive destination for a 3rd.
The question is whether another gut positions the Hawks to be championship contenders or just playoff contenders. No one should be safe if they're trying to win it all.
I will never understand this. Is Atlanta just an off-season city for pro athletes? Black Hollywood should be attracting better free agents. Hope the Emory facility helps.
this team is working its ass off Hope they keep losing, but seems like there is a proper culture in place.
Educate me, who are these guys? Also, aren't we in a lottery pick of we're one of the six worst teams anyways and being the worst doesn't automatically guarantee you the first pick? How does that shit work?
John Collins sitting near me at GT bball game Love that guy. Think he will be a solid piece for future and marketable.
Need to have a d league roster loaded with rec players to call up. Just a team loaded with Darren Rovell-tier talent to tank.
I was all about him earlier this year but (and I’m not saying he’s going to be this bad) I see a little too much Okafor. That’s a lazy comparison and Bagley is a little more athletic but he can’t play D and his offense is pretty one dimensional.
This is basically what I would have said. He's better than Okafor, especially in the rebounding and athleticism departments, but they have similar games.
its a bad fit imo Bamba would be better next to Collins and obviously Ayton....my question is if the franchise sees Collins as a permanent piece or if they move him to get back up in the 1st round; with this draft having so many options at Big that project higher than JC I could see it.
Playoff streak of 10 years is officially over. Good news is we have a legit shot at losing the rest of our games. Houston's first round pick is officially ours, but with the best record in the league at the moment would like to see them suffer a key injury of some sort. Minnesota's first round pick is still in limbo. Theyre about to get Jimmy Butler back. Currently at 5th in West, but only 1.5 back of 10th. So its going to be razor thin margin for them to make the playoffs, but have a record that sits in the lower end of playoff teams. Minny has the 3rd most difficult schedule remaining. https://www.peachtreehoops.com/2018...-2018-nba-minnesota-timberwolves-jimmy-butler
