Did Staplehouse for lunch today. Us and another couple did the entire menu. Absolutely phenomenal cannot recommend enough.
I've been 7 or 8 times. Ed Gien, the maitre d' there, always makes sure I have a good table. I'd recommend the peanut butter soup with smoked duck and mashed squash. New York Matinee called it a 'playful but mysterious little dish.'
Not sure this is the best place to ask since you guys probably don't spend a ton of time sitting in the Atlanta airport, but does anyone know of places in the airport to grab a good beer? I have a three hour layover there next week.
I spend a ton of time there and the airport is full of bars. Honestly depends on what terminal you are in.
Ludacris has a new restaurant called Chicken and Beer in the airport. I'm guessing you can get a beer there
All dependent on which terminal you're in. But you can take a train b/w terminals esp with that big of a layover. One Flew South is the best restaurant but I'd bet you're not in terminal E. There is a Three Taverns in A and B Terrapin in D Sweetwater in B Grindhouse Burgers in T and D Ludacris has a new spot in D a place called Cat Cora's in A has good beers/drinks
http://www.clatl.com/food-drink/article/20846828/where-to-drink-at-the-atlanta-airport Ive only done the Gordon Biersch for a quick beer or two as that was in my terminal. Also ate at Cat Cora's and iirc they had a few good local beers on tap. Chicken and Beer sounds really good, that's where I would go.
I don't understand why people hate on it. Yeah layovers/delays suck, but I'd rather be stuck at Hartsfield then majority of airports.
got stuck in Baltimore on xmas and it was miserable hard to find the quality of ATL food/drink offerings
With the success of The Painted Pin, Amick and Stallworth are ready to expand the brand to Atlanta’s Westside. In summer 2017, the owners will open their second location called The Painted Duck, which Amick calls “a distinguished drinkery duck pin bowling and gaming parlor.” Duck Pin Bowling is the same as bowling, but is played with smaller balls the size of a softball and smaller, fatter pins. The Painted Duck will be the first in the country to focus on the game in the boutique realm and give a somewhat retired game resurgence in popularity. Like The Painted Pin, The Painted Duck will have more classic games paired with recreational backyard bar fare. Executive Chef Thomas Collins is currently developing skewers of wood-fired meats called quills. http://atlantaintownpaper.com/2017/01/bowling-strike-painted-pin-prepares-expand/
Really one of the most well designed airports in the world in it's ability to handle significant air traffic, room for growth, consistency among the terminal designs, amenities, and access to major highways and mass transit. Atlanta has had its issues with transportation, but they fucking nailed the airport.
Dallas (DFW) sucks all of the dicks. It is clean and easy to get around, but finding decent food is the god damn worst. Don't make the mistake of "Oh I'll just leave and grab a bit in the atrium area like Hartsfield"
The fan of section leads me to believe you live in / are from Philly, in which case I'd like to state in no uncertain terms that your airport sucks ass.
Have y'all been checked by the dogs yet? My gf doesn't have pre-check so we went through standard screening before Christmas. About 100 passengers filled a square around the dog and trainer, he around, and then we were sent through the completely empty checkout area. It was fantastic. I told the guys in the control booth, they're all I know, we love it too. Too cool, and its dogs.
It is very cool. Last time I went through regular security there was a woman there who was terrified of dogs and could not contain herself. She was shrieking and wincing every time it came near. It was hilarious. I guess I get being scared of dogs if you had a bad experience with one. But this has to be in the top 1% of well-trained dogs in the world and is on a leash held by a police officer. It was like the Maury pickle lady to me.
Here's a Midtown pump up video for you, I think intended to draw companies to the new Colony Square. Kasim even mentions millennials.
So roads are still bad that mail isn't being delivered and Cobb schools are still closed I heard. I've been driving the past couple of days all over without issues
Issue is in the subdivisions with lots of hills and shade. If any bus route can't be driven they cancel school.
As far as museums, the Civil Rights Museum and the CFB Hall of Fame are close to each other. In Midtown the High Museum of Art is definitely worth checking out. Food, everyone could give you 5-6 different options.
There are some bands worth seeing, I just wish they were playing a solo concert. I'd love to see PTM again.
