Yeah my flight at 2:30 still hasnt been canceled. TSA line didnt have a soul in it.
Power is officially out
Lost it long enough to lose internet, we're back up.
I'm shutting down for the day. Gonna go watch the storm.
Been flickering off and on in west midtown
Got convinced to come to my girlfriends in Virginia highlands and now power is out. Power is still on at my place. I made a mistake.
Most are cancelled or delayedfor time being.
My flight had trouble landing around 1:30. Had to take 3 attempts to finally get full clearance to land.
Planes coming in shortly after me have been diverted to other cities.
So they are acting like my 6pm flight is going to happen
How fun was that???
6pm is like peak winds
Enjoy first class bruh
The plane I'm getting on made it to the gate.
I'll die feeling important. I thought they were trolling my ass when they gave me that upgrade.
Ansley/Morningside power has been out since about 4. I was on a solid Ozark binge before Irma fucked me
One of my friends texted me about that pic bitching about how many emails I had unopened.
I thought about it, but decided to give you the pass
It's a junk email. I just use it for companies that spam the hell out of me. I long ago gave up trying to keep up with that email address.
I still have power.
I'm looking around Adair Park and Pittsburgh... terrifying.
This article on Dewberry is interesting. A buddy of mine played me the infamous voicemail, it's pretty great.
I always got frustrated that Dewberry refused to develop those plats but it sounds like he's waiting to do something truly great and transformative with them instead of just "best available." I suppose I can respect that.
This article certainly paints him in a better light than I've ever heard, so it's certainly possible he's just an ego maniacal asshat who's had more luck than business sense.
get on the other side of 85 imo - Grant/Ormewood/Glenwood Park and EAV are all solid
Pittsburgh is hood as fuck. Buy you a house for 10k and wait 7 years
Exactly, value add neighborhoods in the path of progress. Gentrification doesn't happen overnight, white boy.
Sharp guy with an ego and excellent timing.
I already did.
Are those areas considered safe? I wouldn't necessarily mind living in a shitty area that is "up and coming" as long as it was safe.
Big city, crime is everywhere.
Isn't Adair Park in the Westend, very close to the new section of Beltline going up? That area is going to gentrify with the quickness.
Is there such a thing as a safe up and coming neighborhood?
Came here to post this article. He's very frustrating.
A few years late to get on that
How is Peoplestown?
TIL Where Eagles Dare' neighborhood isn't yet gentrified enough to warrant priority utility restoration. Congrats on your future appreciation.
Oakhurst is still powerless.
Hopefully yesterday was fixing the easy shit and today is the big trees. IDK. Shits supposed to be 80 today
I'm surrounded by rich people and they haven't fixed our shit
I somehow never lost power in Northwoods where we usually have an outage every time there's a thunderstorm. Many of Buford Hwy's traffic lights were still out yesterday according to my wife and were finally working this morning.
Congrats on the yuppies, sorry about your power or rather lack thereof at least you're not at risk of missing any FSU football nailed it.
ABout to get redeveloped by the Ga State stadium and Carter. Depends on how far south you go. Climax Street is one of the best views of Atlanta.
My big issue is this:
Instead of contributing to Midtown in a way that gets us closer to the future he's picturing, he's sitting on his ass waiting for everyone else to do the leg work. It wouldn't upset me if he never got to enjoy the fruit of his labor.
It is a little bit of a tragedy of the commons, but if he's serious about having grand visions for the space and he wants to build something that requires substantial foot traffic, it's net positive is going to be better than just building whatever random hotel, condo or office building would otherwise go there.
Again, the other side of this could be that he's just completely bullshitting, doesn't know what to do with the space, and nothing will ever live up to his perfect ideal of what it should be. Could also be he has a great eye for making investment but no ability to actually manage them, including ceding control to financers and contractors.
FWIW, despite the fact that he "rescued" a hotel currently under construction in Charlottesville, there's been no further progress on construction since 2012 and it remains a gigantic eyesore in one of the nicest, most valuable parts of town. He's already said he wants to build a second Dewberry hotel there, so I don't think "vision" is the issue. I'd bet he has a tough time getting financiers to work with him.
Dewberry is a fuck.
Build a good damn building.
There's also the chance he keeps missing the right time to develop. This cycle has to be winding down soon. I'm pretty sure Opus is starting in November, but other than that i feel like most projects are waiting.
However, ill take a stagnant dewberry over an active Fuqua every single day.
Georgia Power told my neighbor it could be 7-10 days until our power comes back on.
Where are you?
Piedmont Heights. The line that got crushed is a high voltage line. The people contracted to cut the tree out can't start until GP comes out and shuts off the power and GP said they have higher priority areas with more people who don't have power. Everyone is hammering our city councilman about it so hopefully it gets sped up but we'll see
Rumors from Facebook indicate power crew working on 2 massive trees near my house.
Just saw this on Nextdoor so hopefully 2 days of calling, emailing and complaining from my neighbors paid off
What part? I moved to gables midtown and I figured ours would go out. Luckily, the power only flickered a couple times.
