I've been 8 times and it's been pretty shitty trying to get out for the bigger games. I don't really remember it being that bad at the GA Dome, but probably has a lot to do with where your seats are.
I don't think it ever took my that long and I only sat in the upper deck for the Falcons games I went to.
used Downtown Decatur Family Medicine and they were fantastic dentist was Kevin Magid, but looks like he's closed
What should I do this weekend in Atlanta? This winter has got me fucked up fam. Been bored as hell on the weekends lately.
I'm just throwing a bunch of shit at you. Hopefully it helps at least give you an idea if none of this specifically sounds particularly interesting.... The Floozies are playing at Variety Playhouse tomorrow if that you're thing. It's a pretty specific taste to like though. They sound kind of like Big Gigantic, Gramatik, and Pretty Lights if I had to give a comparison. Not my style, but it's something. The Devil Makes Three is playing at Buckhead Theatre The Flyfishing show. Buford Highway Roulette is always fun. Midtown Mardi Gras Block Party.... Disclaimer: I've never been, I just saw it on Facebook. 10 High for Metalsome Karaoke New Realm brewery Escape Room Deep End -- the late night that just opened where 4th and Swift used to be
Da faq is an overhead door? Also three sets of doors costing $185k are they made of Dragon glass and being installed by the players?
Big ass roll-up doors, almost definitely motorized. It's a big challenge to get something like that to go where glass exists currently.
We went to painted duck on a Saturday night and it wasn’t that bad. Didn’t go until around 11 probably.
There are 2 bills. The transit committee bill is coming from the House and will likely be public very early next week. I had breakfast with the lead governance consultant working on it this morning (in Houston - lol). They are wrapping up final briefings. Maggie Lee even tweeted a photo today of the new transit districts. In the Senate, Brandon’s bill doesn’t have the support it needs to get through. It originally had the five core counties (Fulton, DeKalb, Clayton, Gwinnett and Cobb). I personally don’t think it’ll make it out of the Senate prior to crossover. He’s running solo and he knows it. I saw him at the hotel bar at Avalon last weekend and he gets all up in my face trying to sell it. He is clashing big time with the House bill. I agreed to help - then we got drunk as fuck. Liz Hausmann was there and she’s pushing the rebrand hard. MARTA hates it and views it as a takeover. People are jockeying because it’s undoubtedly a Caucasian / R takeover of purse strings. The south side (Atlanta, Fulton, DeKalb and Clayton) are going to riot but I’m not sure it’s enough. In the end, no matter how you look at it, metro Atlanta is getting serious about finding a solution to regionalizing transit. We can poke at the details but it’s good for the long term. I’m tired as fuck from some work travel but can answer questions if y’all care.
How likely is the Clifton corridor? What exactly should we expect the next 5 years in infrastructure and improvements?
Clifton comes down to whether or not KLB will back it as project #1 funded with their 2016 half penny. I'm of the opinion she will and the project will move to DC to wait on the federal funding match. You should see design public meeting this spring or summer. That project is huge and will likely take a decade to finish. Infrastructure should be in great shape, especially in Fulton County and along GDOTs roads. 400/285 is under construction but 400 to Forsyth is next. Within Atlanta there are a myriad of Renew Atlanta and tsplost projects already underway with 4 years of funding left.
Anyone try, and get, the hattie B's pop up at fox bros? Tired to go but was told 2 hour wait and then talked with a guy who'd been waiting since 11 and hasn't gotten his yet.
This is where I am. Great that the caucasian/Repub side of society is finally getting serious about mass transit....but Im worried as hell thats going to come at the expense of the CoA's transit needs (iow the Financial Driver) and underserved communities will get left behind. Also concerned with the State's attempt to takeover the Airport.
It’s pretty bad. Now that voters want to pass more sales taxes, hey, let’s go take the $. Whatever. One rumor out there is that Kasim Reed will be the next CEO at MARTA. I think it’s bunk, but he is tight with Gov Deal.
Painted Duck last night. At 6pm there Was a 5 hour wait for a lane. They did call at 11 after we were long gone. Place is cool, but waaaay too many ppl. Unisex bathroom is weird
The first time I looked up, drunk, and saw a woman across from me while washing my hands at Painted Pin I about had a heart attack. So confused.
That would be....odd. Id guess he'd be a good fit in terms of knowing how to navigate bureaucracy. But seems like a step down from what was his expected trajectory. Guess it buys him time until the investigation passes, state gets bluer, and current statewide elected offices get cleared of their incumbents.
Honestly, I think they need to hire in the direction of someone who can walk the halls of the state capitol and have support. I don’t think Kasim Reed is in that direction despite his history as a state rep. Another name I heard was the guy who just left the NYC MTA. Tom Prendergast. That would give MARTA some street cred.
Are the pay roads/tolls/Peach Pass lanes expected to connect and continue on 285 to the new 400/285 interchange? Then up 400?
Yes. The first few are done obviously, but here is the general order: 85N, 75N, 75S, 285/400 rebuild, 400N, 285 from 75N to 400N, 285 400N to 85N, 285 85N to 20E, 285 75N to 20W, 20E. I don’t think enough $ exists to do it all, but that’s roughly what they want to do. All of 75, 85 on the north, 400 and 285 from 20 to 20, then out 20 east.
Amazon HQ2 is down to four sites in metro Atlanta - Gulch, Midtown (vicinity of North Avenue MARTA with. AT&T and BofA as the anchor AND vicinity of Arts Center MARTA), Bankhead MARTA station area and BeltLine south of PCM (basically, that Georgia Power site and some others). Also, random new rumor that I didn’t know... the Aquarium is building a big ass shark tank in the middle of the atrium. Edit: I forgot the following... Amazon is conducting site visits of all top 20 cities. Atlanta is planning a big tour where they'll do an aerial tour, ride Marta and see the BeltLine. Also, this spring the City will announce an autonomous shuttle between PCM and MARTA. Who knows how well it'll work. LOL. Lastly, Cobb is considering pulling out of the regional transit org proposed in the General Assembly. LMAO.
I’m always happy when I see you bump this thread. Bummer about Cobb. Seems like a lot of people had come around to it, at least connecting suntrust.
So the news was on in the background and they were talking about Amazon. Apparently legislators are so scared that Amazon will turn the state blue they are starting to get scared about getting Amazon and dont want to offer anything to Amazon.
Just talked with a guy from the aquarium. The shark tank should be 2020, he said they’d have tiger sharks among others and a cage for guests to go down.
lol and a streetcar system (with its own dedicated lanes which seems like an impossibility unless raised rails here) supplementing something like the Ponce-PCM-NorthAve corridor is what we need. But a state takeover of the transit dollars would never see that happen; would need to be a project financed by the Feds. PCM or the residences of PCM already has a shuttle iirc.
PCM runs a private shuttle for workers only and they want out. Funny you mention the state takeover and what they would allow and support. Some lobbyist buddies of mine and I were trying to game out scenarios and language to beat the state over Guinness and Jameson last night. I'm hungover. You should have been there. Lol
Can we get more HOV lanes? Seriously, it's amazing thry built that raised shit HOV lane. Imagine if they put that money towards a regional train that had park and rides at each major exit and connected to arts center
the excuse making for them is beyond pathetic these days there is no rational reasoning on their part....youre talking about a County operating at a deficit because of poor governance along with failed policy.
