I usually go with the big Cowboy Bone in Ribeye. It's so good

 

Dang if you could wait a week, it'll be Inman Park Restaurant Week and Rathbun Steak will have a $40 three-course.

Not surprised, they are easily the worst utility I have ever dealt with.

 

Like a week ago I received my first water bill since October 2015.

 

Happy to barely be in Fulton

 

I bitched a while back, but when we first moved into our rental house it took them five whole fucking days to come out with a curb key to turn the water on. They firmly told us we couldn't do it ourselves or else we'd be hit with a fine for tampering.

 

Know someone who lived in a house and never got a bill for three years. Ended up negotiating it down when they sold

 

Rathbun's Steak.... Heard the Cowboy Bone in Ribeye was their most famous, but I usually almost always go for Porterhouses when I know they'll be top notch. That said, now you have me leaning towards the ribeye.

Also, heard they had the best burger in ATL......

That's a bit less. The worst I think I've ever heard of was a $15k water bill one month.

 

Dekalb usually bills every two months and my average is about $15.

 

We're around $75 for the two months. I'm also connected to City of Atlanta infrastructure and DeKalb pays for access.

Any word on this new city of Greenhaven? I want no part of it being two lots away from CoA.

It will be in DeKalb and basically encompass the entire middle section of DeKalb County from East Lake Terrace all the way out to Lithonia and up to Stone Mountain. No hospitals or CBD currently within the borders. And it cuts off South DeKalb which is the poorest part of the county.

I went to a Gresham Hills community association meeting about it two weeks ago. I'm in a pretty good spot on Glenwood with a path to CoA via annexation of the two residential lots between me and Atlanta. Parkview came close to the 60% annexation vote and will likely get it next year. Hopefully we are set to follow. At this point it looks like we'll be either Atlanta or Greenhaven in two years with Atlanta being the significantly better option.

 

I owned a house in Dekalb for 15 years and remarkably never had an issue with my bill. Every two months I'd get a bill for about $20. Then when I got divorced they couldn't/wouldn't figure out how to change the bill over to my wife's name, and wouldn't let her just pay for it with it in my name, so I continued to pay it. Finally she sold the house a few months ago and they changed it when the new owner's took over.

I also did a commercial project on Buford Highway, and right at the end the county indicated there wasn't sufficient sewer capacity (it's an office building, so just restrooms), so they required a holding tank, pumps, alarms, etc. which would activate during the middle of the night. The cost with engineering was about $80,000, and then it took about 2 months for the county inspector to sign off on after they installed it based on a plan he'd already approved. Crazy level of inefficiency.

These are my Dekalb utility stories. I'm Fulton now.

 

Believe it or not, I've turned on utilities for at least three dozen DeKalb County apartments after we acquired or took over, I've never once had a problem. I would just go to the office there off 285 and they'd take good care of me.

Staplehouse reservations are no joke man. Ive only ever done the waitlist but needed a specific time in April. Was intense.

Just read they are going back to their roots using a tasting menu nightly. Never been, but I'm in favor.

 

Went to a wedding tonight at the Inman Park Trolley Barn. Fox Bros catered it, and it was the best wedding food I’ve ever had. I hate the standard wedding fare of “chicken, steak, or pasta”. That shit is always disgusting.

 

I will admit, I generally prefer shithole dive bars when I’m keeping it low key. There is a decent one by my house that allows smoking. JFC. I don’t get it. Then again, I can’t buy Johnny Walker at Costco, I have to wait until the Bible gangsters get out of church before buying a Bloody Mary on Sunday and people pray in open, public settings. I’m not sure what year it is - or where I am - half the time.

 

This was basically my wedding.

 

I ate lunch there and it was one of the best meals I've ever had. Easier to get a reservation too.

 

BBQ holds up much better than a lot of other catered items. I looked at the trolley barn for our wedding but they have some very strange rules about noise. Ended up at piedmont park in October.

 

We had a pretty large band and didn’t have any issues with the noise rules. You have to get pretty out of hand to hit their limit.

 

Any of y’all heard of Speak Easy Supper Club? Wife got us in Friday night and it was incredible. 6 course meal prepared by a 16 year old chef in his home. Byob, donation based, and an overall fantastic culinary experience. Check them out, Trevor and Kyle Shankman.

 

Went to Bon Ton last night.

Three people I know have been there the past two weeks and everyone has liked it. I need to go.

My cousin lives around the corner from it. He goes there all the time. Place is awesome.
