So what's the whole story? I briefly read it on r/Reddit, but Scofflaw came out as trump supporters then they blamed their PR firm who blamed a rogue employee?
They were expanding with a chain in England and a PR release sent out to a bunch of people said they were offering free beer to Trump supporters(in England?). Weird story all around
Okay, didn't know this joint thing was happening in England. That seems almost too stupid to do that to your own brand overseas, but I don't see a PR firm doing something like that on their own.
Definitely gets them publicity, but hipster craft-beer lovers like us don't generally lean right. I'm not buying their shit anymore and there are a million other local breweries that will gladly take up their lost business.
but an Atlanta brewery now has pissed off a bunch of people in their market. People in Conyers aren't drinking anything better than Bud Light, so this was one big backfire.
Cherry Street has been putting out some good stuff. Picked up their collab with Redbrick (now Atlanta) today - s’mores milkshake ipa.
Yeah I dont often drink Scofflaw, but I'm probably less likely to do it now considering I have other options.
Not long after Monday Night had their Kemp fiasco, either. The Scofflaw guys are extreme try-hards though, which is another reason I find it hard to side with them.
Yeah I'm still very much pissed Monday Night pulled that shit. I think they said they tried to do (or donated to) something with the Abrams campaign, but I'm not completely sure.
The Monday Night one bothered me more than this one, but that’s because I drank their stuff more often. Oh well.
Monday night is also meh Honestly not a fan of really any major Atlanta brewery. I like some of the smaller ones, but I usually find myself grabbing out of town beers at the liquor store.
I just hate the mealy mouthed “we appreciate people of every political persuasion” press releases after shit like this. Find me the brewery who says “Fuck Brian Kemp because he’s a complete piece of human garbage” and you’ve got my business.
I kinda agree. There’s a lot of good stuff out there, but nothing truly remarkable. I drive to CCBC for a lot of their releases, but like Southern Grist out of Nashville a good bit more.
it's surprising they'd even be inconsistent with their product since they basically do it all off computers to avoid screwups like that
Scowflaw has had a history of not giving a fuck and flicking off customers and whatever else. Seems like they'd own it if true and tell ppl to fuck off of they didn't like it. This was almost immediate correction on thier end. Tend to believe them. Vastly different than Monday Night
I find it odd that y’all would let something like what happened at Scofflaw make you not go there. I’d get it if they donated to Trump or something but that seems awfully insignificant
You still support Trump at this point, you can get completely fucked. Shit they can have whatever politics they choose, but maybe don't be stupid and put it out in the public if your liberal Atlanta base may not like it.
Their beer is woefully inconsistent more than anything. Basement ipa legitimately tastes different every time I have it. Same with goats milk.
At worst, it was.a joke gone wrong. At the very worst. But it doesn't make sense for them to back peddle when they have a history of literally having the entire company take a pic of them flipping off the camera in response to complaints
They have a standard version, or did for a while. I know they try new varietals of it, including blueberry, but the original was mango, strawberry, milk sugar, and lactose iirc. And it never tasted the same. POG has the most consistency imo.
I've never had the consistency issue ppl mention and I've never really heard that until ppl mentioned it on reddit with this broke two days ago. I did drink a mislabeled keg a week ago
I like Scofflaw, probably my fav GA brewery other than CC. I also only drink it the 5 times I am in town a year. Also, getting married next weekend in atl
I miss Creature Comforts so much. Would love to do a beer exchange with anyone looking for DC/VA/MD area beers.
lol, in my defense we don't play that Saturday nor would I give a shit. Good friend of mine is marrying a big uga fan GA/FL weekend that is a bizarre one
I'd be tempted to put Sweetwater in the mix if for nothing other than longevity, but would put most of the Atlanta ones ahead of ones like Thomas Creek in sc
For me I just think we have a lot of solid breweries which is not a bad thing by any means. There's not a Sweetwater beer I think is awesome. Same goes for Monday night, scofflaw, red brick, new realm etc. Having said that, I can also go to any one of them and get something I enjoy which is more important really
Three Taverns and Orpheus not getting the respect they deserve ITT. They’re not elite level like Creature Comforts but they’re better than the best brewery in most cities across the country.
There's a brand place in peachtree city called line Creek brewing. Don't know if it's any good but publix just started carrying it.
