My friend is going to be at the Sheraton for a conference this weekend. He wants to know the best spot to eat and watch braves game within walking distance. Saw it's not super far from hooters and the hard Rock. Like a mile from Hudson Grill. Any not chain options that y'all recommend?
SW has done great things for both the city of Atlanta and the beer scene here. They opened up that facility down the street from the main one where they are brewing sours/barrel aged beers and are starting to expand their IPA offerings. Not sure if this is in the news or not but they are remodeling their tasting room and are opening up a restaurant there.
Once more breweries opened up in Atlanta, I feel like it became cool to dislike Sweetwater and I never understood it. Like people were pissed that they had success and grew as a company.
Yeah and the natural progression is for breweries like that to sell out to a major player like inbev which SW** hasn't done. All things considered, even if you hate their beer they are a huge atlanta company and mostly bring positives. **SW gave me 4 cases of beer for my wedding
Does it have to be walking distance? Just recommend they get a quick uber up to Cypress Street Pint & Plate or something along those lines.
I don't love Sweetwater beers (they're solid and I'm happy to drink them if that's what's available) but I love the company and am grateful for what they've done in the community. I am happy they've done well and will always root for their continued success.
I’m not a big beer fanatic like some but I went to Torched Hop the other evening and left impressed. Good beer and great food. Some cool bar games as well. Would recommend.
We went for a friend's birthday a few months ago and had a good time. I hadn't even heard of it but thought it was a cool spot. As you said, they have some cool bar games and the vodka gummy bears were a nice touch when people were trying to take it up a notch. It kind of reminded me of Ormsbys without the shoulder to shoulder crowd
That’s a good comparison. Not quite Ormsby’s bc less bar games and less crowded but also not quite a brewery bc it’s air conditioned. It was an ideal spot to go to before David Byrne at the Fox because the Livingston was fucking packed and I’m assuming Cypress was too.
Their Dank Tank offerings are always really good, and the new G13 is fantastic imo. They do tons of work for causes close to me, so I’m a big fan.
Not surprised some good Auburn folk touched ur heart. Was there last night and they do have some solid beers
My friend just moved to ATL (Reynoldstown) and I was helping them move in this weekend. I was quite impressed. Never really been anywhere outside the major interstates and tourist attractions in ATL but the neighborhoods and Beltline and stuff is badass
I've already had 2 people on Facebook mark themselves safe. Seems premature, but ok. If Atlanta people get the option to mark themselves safe on Facebook because of what will be the outskirts of a tropical storm hitting the city -- I'll be annoyed. I'm not trying to see all those notifications from people telling the world they are safe when they were never in danger in the first place.
East side Nhoods are cool. People that bought into Reynoldstown a while ago are living it up. Belt line is tight
Since we’re complaining, I’m always surprised but not surprised at the arguments people come up with to try to block development. Reading the Greenlight the Gulch comments gives me a headache.
Closer Look on WABE looked at the APS argument against immediately voting to approve this, mainly because approving a new (or expanding an existing) TAD is kicking the can down the road they feel since they haven't addressed this existing TADs and their debt not being paid off. It was interesting hear hear this side. It's not up on the website yet, but I assume it will be posted soon, https://www.wabe.org/shows/closer-look/
Nah. I’m about to fly to Jacksonville right now. We’re going to get some bands of rain into the early morning but you’ll be fine. Worlds most efficient airport for a reason.
I’ll check this out. It would be nice to see a cogent take. There was a piece on GApol.com that did a great job of highlighting the benefits and cutting through a lot of the misinformation.
You’re splitting time between Mobile and Jacksonville now? Do you also get your monocle polished at the caviar store?
I assume you had no issues. I flew out of Atl aiport in the middle of a tropical storm last year. Of course I'm in NYC right now and flying out of LaGuardia tomorrow. With the amount of rain New York has gotten I hope to make it to Atlanta by Sunday.
Coming into town for the wives' 30th, have friday and saturday planned but not saturday night. What's a good spot to chill/eat/hangout saturday night? I am thinking something like the new clermont roof bar
The AJC Blog on this is a good read: https://www.ajc.com/blog/politics/i...n-second-headquarters/T3p4r9PPGnxuFE1Y5IZzJM/ My favorite part: Pitching Amazon that they could have their own dedicated cars on MARTA - because fucking the public part of public transportation.
We got our cats from Fur Kids, and the adoption process was great. They were very thorough, which we appreciated. They have a dog location, which I can’t speak to personally, but I think they’d be worth checking out based on our experience.
Just went to Lloyd's on Dekalb Ave in Inman Park. From the same folks as Victory, One Eared Stag, etc. It's like a 70's dive bar styled vibe (old school ads, old school country music, no tv's, etc.) minus cigarette smoke. Pretty cool concept and really good food. Beer prices and happy hour specialist are also pretty nice.
Just talked to a coworker whose wife is really involved in dog adoption. She said society of humane friends of Georgia or fur kids. Said angels among us and Atlanta humane are no good.
