Plenty of recs already but I got mine from Bosley’s Place. They are a puppy rescue so you still go the puppy route but feel good about taking in a rescue. My guy was found at about a week old when a hawk tried to carry him out of someone’s backyard.
After DNA testing him, he’s 1/2 Carolina dog, 1/4 German shepherd and 1/4 rat terrier. They guessed he was a shepherd mix because of his ears but as soon as someone told me he looked like a Carolina dog and I learned what that was, I knew that matched him. I think you had to fill out an application and they did an in-home visit. I was a little nervous because I was a single guy living in an apartment but the in home visit was really more to make sure the place wasn’t going to be dangerous for the dog or anything. The application was a formality. They have adoption events on the weekend at a few different pet stores around town, they just set up in the parking lot and you can come meet the dogs. They have the puppies’ pictures online I went a couple weekends in a row even though I knew which one I wanted. I just wanted to give it some time and be sure about it even if I knew it meant someone might get him before I did. They have a seemingly never ending supply of cute puppies though so if you’re flexible about timing you’ll be able to find one you’re happy with. Dog tax attached Spoiler
Who else plans out their first meal back after an extended trip abroad? I just got back from a trip, and I didn't really plan it, but my first meal back was Nick's Food to Go, and I am very happy with my decision. What's yours? Sidenote: Everyone knows the gyro's there are phenomenal, but I would recommend trying their burgers as well. I tried the Nick’s ¼ Burger Sandwich tonight and loved it.
Clown Baby as a fellow champ let me know if you find one rec is better than the other. Fostered an English Bulldog for about 6 months before I had to give him back. Bit a couple of my friends/family and finally me and I had to get stiches, someone fucked with him real bad before I got him. In the market for a new pup myself, will prob go to the humane society, people on pet finder are slow to update, Have filled out two apps and they respond a week later saying the dog is no longer available (nothing on my apps gave red flag). At the same time Ive been seeing people walking their dogs in the morning on the way to work in the rain freezing cold and figure maybe it's best. Side note, where is the best ramen in Atlanta? Ginya, Taiyo, Ramen Station, Momonoki, Ton Ton, are okay but not good. Went to Lahn Zahn on Buhi and ended up with oxtails and dumplings.. Yet to find a good spot. Dim sum heaven has better dumplings than North China Eatery IMO while we are on the subject Vyvanse apologies
Drew63 my bad in that incoherent ramble I called it Lahn Zahn like a cac. Went there but got some oxtail soup instead, will try the ramen next time. Is cool watching that guy making noodles through the dirty ass window though.
At the gym and Big Boi just rolled up to right next to me on the leg press casually chatting about his superbowl performance
Headed that way this weekend for a wedding. Wife is in the wedding so I'll probably be left to my own Friday afternoon and pretty much all day Saturday. What would you do to kill a day/afternoon? Brewery, bar, restaurant recs, etc. TIA Owsley Clown Baby dawgonit et al.
Not really. You know how these wedding weekends go, mostly just looking to kill time and do something worthwhile. Maybe some legit Asian food on Buford Hwy and a brewery. I dunno, I’m open to suggestions.
Have you done the beltline/PCM before? I've been gone for almost a year an a half so others will give more up to date recs
Came to post this. Get dropped off at PCM, grab lunch and then walk down to Krog Street Market and stop at New Realm on the way. There's a handful of other bars along that portion as well so you can stop and grab a beer whenever
Nina & Rafi’s is a new (and very good) pizza place that just opened up in that new townhome development on the Beltline down by Krog.
I used to live in one of the buildings on O4W Park right across from New Realm and it makes me irrationally angry every time I think about how great that place would be now (it was a great spot to begin with). That and anytime I see pics of the Fetch Icehouse, which is an idea I had for a decade that I never got the balls to follow through with. I miss Atlanta in general.
I had that idea six months ago! I was going to boil myself in a bisque to feed and entertain the firemen.
Still haven’t been to New Realm, but have been very underwhelmed with their beers I’ve tried. Granted, these are most likely their market-entrance offerings, and nothing special in general.
I'd have low expectations for the actual beer. It just needs to be acceptable - All about the location there. It just has to be better than Park Tavern (the second greatest waste of space in Atlanta, behind the Gulch).
I’m not a beer guy but I’ve been a half dozen times and it’s pretty solid. They keep expanding their beer list too.
While I'm in here, what's the verdict on A Mano? That was another one I was pissed I missed - Right down the street from my place and BoccaLupo was a favorite of mine.
The Norfolk Southern project is pretty disappointing for the attention it garnered. Two squat towers right next to our tallest building. /CREtweet On the food convo, I’ve been hitting up Bon Ton a lot. Anyone else been there?
Clown Baby sup neighbor, live right across the street from bantam. A mano is solid, nothing mind blowing, good meal for cheap. Eat at Krog not Ponce imo Bon ton is damn good, never had a bad meal there good drinks as well
