So while living in Wyoming I always kept a duffle bag in my trunk/bed as a survival kit

Replaced that with an old glasses case filled with joints

flavor was never an issue with Mei Mei for me. it was always consistency of freshness. maybe they've improved things since then... its been a while for me. I never made it to their new restaurant.

been in town for a little over three weeks, some thoughts:

    - man I love Asian women. They are so petite and unassuming. They are also all over the place and it is awesome
    - I really love biking to Boston Common/Public Garden on nice days and sitting on a bench while reading
    - this place is deceptively hilly. There are times where pedaling really sucks but also times where you can not pedal for what seems like several minutes because you are on a long decline
    - getting off the T at Copley every morning and walking to work is pretty awesome. Going from a small town environment to one as vibrant as downtown Boston has been a blast. I still feel like such a tourist because there is always so much going on all around
    - this is a really really good place to live if you like music. Brighton Music Hall, Paradise Rock Club, The Sinclair, Orpheum Theater, Royale, House of Blues and then smaller places like Great Scott, Middle East, O'Brien's, Sonia combine to create a very strong collection of venues and then you have all the free stuff taking place at Berklee, the NE Conservatory, etc.
    - I wish more intersections had street signs because I have been getting lost like crazy and it would be nice to just look up and know where you're at. But I guess street signs are too newfangled for such an old city

all in all this is a cool city. I have biked all over at all hours of the day and have yet to find myself in a situation where I felt unsafe. Seems like you really need to go out of your way to get in trouble up here

once recreational dispensaries open up, this is going to be a really bad ass place to live

this is a classic New England thing to do. its basically their way of saying if you don't know where you are then you don't belong here. Thats what a Boston native told me when I first moved up here and made the same observation.

I'm glad you're enjoying it man. the city gets a lot of shit from folks who hate the sports teams and hate the stereotypical Bostonian, but I never found it to be that bad at all.

Have you biked up to the Middlesex Fells yet?

it was spectacular. I was fourth row behind the plate with Chris Sale on the mound...pretty unreal experience

what I most enjoyed about it was how many people were really into the game. Very few people glued to their phones

was also really cool just being able to hop on the Green line and ride down to Kenmore and walk right in the park. Super easy

have now lived here for over a month and I think my biggest complaint is the water seems hard wherever I go. It was hard at The Colonnade Hotel (which has a cool rooftop pool with some really hot employees by the way), it is hard in the staff locker room I have access to, it's hard at my apartment and it was hard at an apartment I showered in this weekend

so hard water seems really common here

I feel like you'd be all about Cambridge and Allston/Brighton. The ethnic food options in Packards Corner and where Commonwealth Ave meets Harvard Ave = incredible. Just walk around and look at menus in the windows. Silhouette Lounge would be up your alley in that hood

Bukowski Tavern and The TAM also seem like places you'd enjoy. Davis Square, Harvard Square, Theater District, Back Bay and South End are probably filled with places to eat/drink that would suit you

hello please let me know of your favorite places to eat that you've found this far. i love indian, thai, ethiopian, etc but only know a couple good Italian and seafood places

general food and drink recommendations from anyone else would also be great

went to north square oyster last night and had my very first lobster roll and oysters, then to bell in hand for beers. everything was incredible

best places I have found on my own so far:

    - Thai Dish on Babcock St in Allston
    - Punjab Palace on Brighton Ave in Allston
    - Giacomo's on Columbus Ave near Northeastern
    - Eagles Deli on Beacon St in Brighton
    - Le's Vietnamese on Brighton Ave in Allston
    - Shabu-Zen on Brighton Ave in Allston (apparently also a location in Chinatown)
    - Brown Sugar Cafe on Commonwealth Ave in Allston/Brighton
    - Sunset Grill and Tap on Brighton Ave in Allston
    - all the restaurants (like 10-13 of them) in Super 88 Market & Food Court in Packard's Corner...based on what you like, you have to check out this place

I don't drink but in my hood I would recommend Silhouette Lounge and Hopewell Bar & Kitchen. First place is a true dive that I think would be awesome to waste a day drinking inside and Hopewell is a neighborhood bar/restaurant that does a great business every night and seems to have a really loyal customer base

there are so many god damn good restaurants on and around Brighton Ave/Harvard Ave in my neck of the woods

best places other people have taken me (I did not pay for these meals and probably wouldn't go back on my own because of price):

    - Mooo... on Beacon Hill (holy shit this was an amazing steak....thank you to my dad's friend for taking me here)
    - STRIP by Strega (incredible steak but was way too fancy for me...thank you to my boss for taking me here)

holler if you are ever trying to get high. We should get really high and go cheer for BC football vs FSU this fall

I live in western MA. the debates about where to start a timber rattlesnake breeding colony is hilarious. people keep proposing different locations around the state to set up a colony, including an island in the middle of the Quabbin.

Punter's Pub on Huntington Ave by the Museum of Fine Arts. Walk there from Copley Square and enjoy that awesome stretch that includes the Public Library, Prudential Center, Northeastern, Symphony and MFA

Then go to Spikes Junkyard Dogs in Allston and drink at all the awesome bars around here after. The Silhouette is just up the road
