Yes on all brother. All your posts make me sad that i moved out just as you moved in. I only live ~2 hrs away but I rarely make it back. Might be in town in two weeks though.... fingers crossed!
CFA likely coming to Copley Square https://www.boston.com/food/restaurants/2018/11/09/chick-fil-a-boston-location Harvard hosting Yale at Fenway next weekend in the 135th playing of The Game. BC hosting Clemson tomorrow. Not a bad couple weekends for CFB here. Saw a bunch of Clemson fans in line to get tours at Fenway today
it's the 50th anniversary of the 29-29 tie that was so epic. Gonna be some kind of atmosphere https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvard_Beats_Yale_29-29
today in politics the first announced dispensary in boston-proper is owned by andrea cabral. a buddy of marty walshs, cabral is a former sheriff and suffolk county prosecutor that made a career of arresting and charging people for marijuana crimes https://www.dispensarygenie.com/dispensary/ascend-boston-dispensary/
Anyone got some good places to hit up for some great lunch? sit down or casual i dont really mind i’ll do it all.
Parish Cafe on Boylston St The Salty Pig on Dartmouth St The Gallows on Washington St I had the best lunch break walks ever in that city Walking over to Mass Ave past Berklee and down Newbury St. Then around Copley Square and up to the Museum of Fine Arts via Huntington Ave and then veering off through the Back Bay Fens and walking around Fenway I really miss Allston. Such a gem for Asian spots. Great Scott has some unreal shows coming up too
thanks man. I have a trip planned to salty pig already. I’ll be staying in Allston for about 3 weeks. whats good around there?
- concerts at Great Scott. They get so many acts 3-4 years before they really blow up. Seriously, just check out their calendar and research a couple acts and you will have a great time there (cash only, which will be a theme in the neighborhood) - Deep Ellum (if you like to drink this is probably the best place in the area) - Model Cafe (not for food. Turns into a dance party on weekend nights and it's amazing with all the hipster BU girls in there. Such an inclusive environment ) - FoMu for ice cream (all the female musicians who play at Great Scott go here before shows) - Silhouette Lounge for cheap beers (all the male musicians who play at Great Scott go here before shows) - cheap breakfast sandwiches at Twin Donuts (open at 4 AM on week days) - Lulu's for brunch - Hopewell Bar and Kitchen for outside day drinking if it's nice, but it's still awesome inside and they have solid food - Le's Vietnamese there are tons of great Asian spots in that area. But you can also easily take the B-line into town and go to the North End for some great Italian, which I highly recommend doing as much as your budget will allow. Ride that Green Line as much as possible because you are a straight shot to Copley Square and Public Gardens/Common on it also, from the Commonwealth Ave/Harvard Ave intersection...take Harvard Ave into Brookline and hit up a bunch of spots in and around Coolidge Corner. That's a terrific area to walk around. If you are still going to be in town for the Marathon, that will be a wonderful area if the weather is good. The marathon route goes right through there
some developer proposed pretty radical changes to Kenmore Square https://universalhub.com/2019/developer-proposes-turning-kenmore-square I miss Allston pretty badly. And damn I miss the Copley Square/Newbury St/Huntington Ave area so much
Just came back from eating my way through Boston. Tiger mama, Coppa and Toro were some of the highlights.
Gentlemen When is the best time of year to visit your fine city? Mostly interested in the history stuff, and obv good food.
Cool, I figured summer time. Got some family moving there so will hop back in here shortly before visiting.
But honestly it’s a good looking city with a new part getting built too, but it’s expensive as shit and the people are miserable. Never been to a place with such rude assholes all over. I really wanted to punch the motherfucker at the union oyster bar. If i ever go back I am going back over there just to fuck with this little toothless fucking prick Also we were just walking downtown looking for some gifts for the girlfriends on a goddam Sunday afternoon and a guy almost threw up on us...but he did it on the car next to him instead.
Lol you sound miserable yourself. Boston is fine, sure some of the locals are assholes but there are plenty of nice people in Boston. Expensive? eh its like plenty of other places in the northeast.
I’ve walked around NYC all day including a few subway and bus rides. I think I’ll be okay on the asshole front.
Yeah, maybe it was just a bad weekend. It was actually during thanksgiving so not the best time to visit. But I can definitely tell you that the fucker at union oyster was the worst I have ever seen. I regret not punching the rest of his teeth out, never seen someone that rude working in a restaurant ever. And I have a huge French Canadian accent so half of them just hate me just when I open my mouth.
Love Boston/New England in the Summer. Getting away from the southern humidity is a treat. Can I buy weed yet in your fine city or is it still a cluster?
yeah, and massachusetts green lighted cannabis cafes, so expect to see those start to open up in like 400 years
Not going to head into Brookline for it. So please get it straightened out by the end of June. I'd prefer a shop in the Back Bay area and one out on the Cape. Thanks!
NETA on Washington in Brookline is rec now Mayflower Medicals on Harvard Ave in Allston was getting ready to go rec last time I was there in early January I miss Great Scott so much
I assume someone in this thread will be able to hook me up with tickets for the sunday Dodgers/Sox game in July. thanks in advance, much love
Best area to go to post Phish Fenway shows? We are staying at the Back Bay Hilton. Think shows end around 10:30-11. Was thinking of going across the river into Cambridge but have never been partied in that area before. Just two 35 years-olds just wanting to keep drinking. Live Music is a plus.
Cambridge and Somerville have some amazing bars I don't drink but State Park in Kendall Square always had music. Lord Hobo seemed to have a massive beer selection Deep Ellum in Allston would be my top bar recommendation anywhere though McGreevy's and The Fours are good for watching games in Boston https://www.bostonmagazine.com/restaurants/best-bars-boston/
leaving for your fine town in the morning and will be there until tuesday. will have a fair amount of autonomy while i’m there. what should do?
Go to a baseball game, drink at an Irish pub. Go to Regina pizza. Eat some oysters at Neptune. Went once and I was not overly impressed but the timing wasn’t great. beacon st can probably be fun. Visit some campus, if there was any university hockey going on I would tell you to catch a game.
