New mock from pewterreport... Rd1 - OJ Howard - TE, Alabama Rd2 - Budda Baker - FS, Washington Rd3 - Kareem Hunt - RB, Toledo Rd4 - Josh Reynolds - WR, Texas A&M Rd5 - Shelton Gibson - WR, West Virginia Rd6 - Javancy Jones - DE, Jackson St Rd7 - Freddie Stevenson - FB, FSU I like the first 2 picks and Josh Reynolds in the 4th, but I'd like us to take a pass rusher a lot earlier than rd 6. We should also take an OL every year.
Baker is pretty small is my only concern with him but I like the first 3 picks overall. I'd grab an OL in rd 4 or 5 vs 2 WRs
Baker's small but fast AF. I like the Safety from UCONN too. It doesn't have to be Reynolds, but we need another outside receiver in this draft.
That mock makes our holes a lot more glaring than I previously thought. Agree that OL needs to be addressed and preferably within the first 3 rounds. I'm kind meh on Howard in the 1st. He's not a huge need so he better be damn good.
I see it differently. Our passing game went to complete shit when Brate got hurt those last few weeks, so having 2 pass catching TEs is a must imo. Plus Howard is a great blocker, which will improve our perimeter running game. If he's there, he's a take.
Fair enough. Admittedly, I haven't seen much of Howard play, but I think OL needs to be invested in as much as possible. Getting a true LT and moving Smith to RT would be nice, plus a starting C or G to compliment Marpet.
Whether we agree or not, everything I've read makes it sound like Licht/Koetter are happy with our OL situation and would probably only draft one in a later round to build depth (unless it's addressed in FA). Sounds like pass catchers, pass rushers, and secondary will be our draft focus.
Mike Evans just won play of the year on NFL Honors for a 15 yd one handed catch against the Falcons. It was a nice catch and all, but play of the year? Just sticking with the Bucs, this play was way better.
So Daniel Jeremiah on NFL.com just mocked Alvin Kamara to us at 19. While I don't agree with us taking a RB in the 1st, I can at least understand the rationale for taking Cook or Fournette if either fell to us. But Kamara? L O fucking L! Dude is too injury prone and undersized to be anything more than a committee RB. Late 2nd rd pick at best. Only slightly less laughable was Walterfootball mocking Christian McCaffery to us.
Kamara is wildly illogical for so many reasons. While I don't want a rb in rd1 I'd at least understand the BPA logic for DC and LF. Kamara is not even close to that.
Good breakdown of VHIII's rookie season https://www.pewterreport.com/cover-3-in-depth-breakdown-of-hargreaves-rookie-season/
I like OJ at 19, but we definitely need OL more than a hybrid FB in the late rounds. Should've just kept Vitale last year
Sikkema is probably the best beat-writer for the Bucs right now. He's relatively new to PR but I usually try to read all of his articles. He usually brings pretty thorough analysis in his pieces.
Yeah, he's thorough and to the point. Unlike Scott Reynolds who can have some good content, but really belabors whatever point he's making.
Agree and I think Sikkema does a great job at analyzing the little things. That Hargreaves article is a perfect example. He'll likely get a better job in the near future.
All the Pewterreport writers did like a fantasy offseason GM article with FA signings and drafts. Of course Sikkema's was the best. Mark Cook's was awful. Scott Reynolds' was acceptable.
agreed. He's now my top pick for the spot. And if he happens to catch the ball a few times per game, all good.
Adding Jackson and Howard would make our offense incredibly dangerous. We also get Sweezy back which should bolster OL depth if nothing else. Rd1: Howard (unless Davis, Cook or Williams is available) Rd2: safety Rd3: SDE or OL
but I think the issue was Brate catches the ball already and OL is a bigger need. People coming to terms that OJ is essentially an athletic lineman makes it not so dumb. of course that's just my vagina.
For whatever reason Koetter and Licht really like the OL we have. It's fine though, this year's OL class is bad. I'm glad we're not targeting one with an early pick this year for that reason. Hope we grab one in rd 3-5 for depth though
Report: Bucs Interested In Calias Campbell Posted By: Trevor SikkemaMarch 05, 2017 A few days ago it was reported that the Tampa bay Buccaneers are taking a good, hard look at Washington wide receiver DeSean Jackson as a potential free agency signing. On Sunday, CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported that the Bucs are also interested in Arizona Cardinals DE Calias Campbell. And the Buccaneers are inclined to keep pushing to get in the postseason. Cardinals defensive lineman Calais Campbell and Redskins receiver DeSean Jackson are just two of the players they are interested in. The interest isn’t unfamiliar, but it is interesting. When debating what to do with Tampa’s own 6-foot-7 defensive end William Gholston, who hits unrestricted free agency this Tuesday, some have cited Campbell’s success as a reason to keep Gholston due to them being the same size at the same position – Campbell is 6-foot-8. Campbell has played his entire nine-year career in Arizona. Campbell, like Gholston, has never recorded double digit sacks before, but his numbers in that category are much higher than Gholston’s. Acquiring Campbell would likely mean that the team would not be bringing Gholston back, as the expectation is for Noah Spence to be the full-time starter on one end. That would mean paying Campbell and Gholston would not be ideal, especially since Campbell’s contract demand will be high. This could also just be general manager Jason Licht covering all his bases by staying open to bringing in any player he needs to should one of his guys test free agency or demand too much money. Whatever it is, we know the interest is there, and the more cases like this are brought to light, the more Bucs fans can be confident that this front office is going to do whatever it takes to get over the hump and into the playoffs.
Seems like good value and I'm guessing from guaranteed money you can basically consider it a two year deal.
Yes. Unless we go big in FA, we've got lots of cap space. Just gotta make sure we have enough to pay Evans next year.
