come on its great either way. lime margerita with patron straight up. good with beef. and feel in love with the painkiller .
yeah, I love a good laphroaig but at 80 bucks a pop i am not throwing an egg on it. the cheapest smoky whisky I found is the te bheag. It’s like 45 $ here so probably 30 in the us.
Love Tiki drinks and this thread reminded me of one of my favorites, the Zombie. 1 oz Dark Rum 1 oz Light Rum 1 oz Orange Liqueur 1.5 oz Passion Fruit Syrup 1.5 oz OJ .5 oz Lemon Juice .5 oz Lime Juice Splash or Grenedine and another of bitters Shake Citrus is overwhelmingly plentiful right now and don’t care how cold it is.
drinking some Painkillers tonight. Gotta tiki in the winter. Used some Rhum Barbacort 3 star which didnt have much character in its own, but I figure most rums even a funky one would be mostly covered up by the tiki
Lotta right answers in here. Manhattan or negroni is my go to. And I can't be convinced there's a better way to end a meal than an espresso martini. Just had to make sure that a cocktail thread contained the correct way to make an old fashioned.
Being a big scotch fan I'm always gifted bottles, mostly stuff I'd never buy but always appreciate because I do love a scotch cocktail every now and then. Made some honey ginger syrup last night and am enjoying a few penicillins tonight featuring Dewars white label and Ardbeg 10.
Was just looking at some different recipes (they're all pretty much the same) since I had some leftover syrup, and found out this drink was "invented" this century. Seems like it would be a classic cocktail, but is definitely a variation of many. Love the smokey float/nose. I may try one with an egg white to see how it compares to regular recipe. Also the honey/ginger syrup goes great with a cup of tea.
Oh I forgot all about the hanky panky, but specifically one that a spot near me was doing for a while with coffee (maybe espresso, can't remember anymore) that was fucking great. Just tried having a bartender experiment in that direction for me... pretty good. Basically add a half shot of espresso to the thing. Not dead on for what I remembered, but close.
Made some jungle birds for the afternoon. https://punchdrink.com/recipes/jungle-bird/ Used some white overproof Jamaican rum instead of dark rum. https://www.astorwines.com/SearchResultsSingle.aspx?p=2&search=36518&searchtype=Contains Excellent rum for cocktails
Try a mint julep. Nothing wrong with a mojito, but IMO a julep delivers everything a mojito does (refreshing, ect.) plus it's bourbon and IMO more tasty.
Get about 6-8 mint leaves and clap them. Muddling makes tiny leaf pieces and makes it bitter. Clapping it in your hand a few times with a quick light muddle is fine. 4oz bourbon 1oz simple syrup 1.5oz fresh lime juice Technically a mint julep is served over crushed ice but rocks are fine. That works for me, but of course you may want more or less of any ingredient after trying. Play with it and find what works for you
Came to the local distillery for a night cap. Told the bartender I want to like a Gin drink but generally don't. Hit me with a house cocktail called the Once Upon a Thyme Gin-Thyme syrup-Lemon-Velvet Falernum. Pretty good imo. Hides some of the Gin abrasiveness with still being very gardeny
We found yes cocktails at the beginning of the pandemic. Been enjoying this cocktail since. Whiskey with Blood Orange Chili Peoper
Ion even fuck with mixed drinks outside of Bloody Mary and Margs but the Blueberry Lemon Drop martini at Bonefish is legit
Gingerbread whiskey sours Merry merry mules And those Naughty and Spices are all getting made and consumed in the next 30 hours
Yeah that's gin weather. I go rye in my boulevardiers though, makes for a much better product than bourbon imo
Without looking, that's where we swap the sweet vermouth for dry, yeah? Haven't tried it, probably should
