Jason Garrett has an elaborate system whereby he calls the entire offense with a series of blank stares and claps
Wait until we need a solid performance for a playoff berth and we get 11/26 with 1 td and 3 picks, and a fumble
Through 3 quarters and then he delivers an improbable fourth quarter comeback and we all cheer and celebrate Dak’s new long term deal
Its hard to know what was Kellen Moore/Dak and what was just the Giants being a complete dumpster fire. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle of those two. That said, it was a hell of lot better looking than a lot of what we saw with Scott calling the plays. Hopefully they just keep taking care of business for the next 2 weeks. Washington and Miami (especially Miami. Woof) look very beatable. Lets get everything running smoothly for week 4 when they go to NOLA. Big big game
Even if they do suck, Dak never was as consistently successful with Linehan. For reference: 78.13% completion percentage (5th best career game, 2nd best with 30+ attempts) 405 passing yards (2nd best career game) 4 passing TD (T-best career game) 158.3 passer rating (best career game) 0 sacks taken (one of 8 career games where he's taken none) 12.66 Y/A (best career game...by 1.5 Y/A) 15.16 AY/A (best career game...by 1.5 AY/A) The only two drives that didn't end in touchdowns (before they started just handing off every play to kill time) ended after drops on well-thrown balls that should've converted first downs. And they were 2 for 2 on converting for touchdowns in the red zone which was the biggest issue last year.
The red zone success was so satisfying. Last year it was so frustrating to watch the futility inside the 10 yard line.
Also, Chidobe Awuzie stayed the king of allowing great catches into really tight coverage yesterday with that one-handed Lattimer catch
Defense is a little concerning. Getting Byron Jones up to speed and having him and Chidobe outside full-time should help some. Jourdan Lewis needs to continue to play instead of Anthony Brown in the slot because he was fantastic yesterday and Brown was beyond doo-doo. Took an awful route on the long run by Saquon and missed a couple tackles. Jeff Heath, LVE, and Jaylon got abused all day in coverage. Hopefully that doesn't continue with non-Evan Engram matchups. Forgettable day for those 3. Also hoping that Taco might not be a healthy scratch next week because 1) everyone that lined up at right end was mediocre and 2) Hyder was terrible in relief of Tank on the other side. Robert Quinn can't get back soon enough either.
hmmm i came away thinking hyder was pretty disruptive i don’t think we’re ever going to see anything out of taco
I may be wrong on Hyder... only ever remember seeing him chasing plays past the line of scrimmage. I don't think I saw where he made any stops or pressured Eli.
Defense had 2 of its 4 best players still getting back into football shape after injury. Once Tank and Byron are back up to speed and Quinn is back I think we will be fine. Jaylon and LVE had some less than stellar moments but also had some great plays. LVE assisted on the strip sack and also forced a throw away on an earlier drive to force a punt. Honestly given the issues the defense had from a yards perspective AND the fact that the running game was pretty mediocre its awesome how much ass we kicked. The team is a lot more multi dimensional now and can beat people a lot of different ways. Gonna be a fun season
I talked all that shit on La'el and he came out and made the PFF Team of the Week and put up a 92.4 grade Also:
La'el also posted a perfect 100.0 pass protection rating. Dude had himself a day. Also this is so fun:
Giants beat writer (Ryan Dunleavy) for the paper of record here in NJ posted this video under the headline: Cowboys mock Giants ‘lost’ secondary on sideline: ‘What you scared of?’ Yes Ryan, we all know you're desperate for clicks.
Taco removed everything Cowboys-related from his socials last night and tweeted "the waiting game." Rumors have been swirling for a few days hes being shopped. Would you give Taco + a 2nd for a Minkah?
That dime secondary with some combination of Jones, Awuzie, Brown, Lewis, Woods, Heath and Minkah would be really good
