that's disappointing. I'd rather trade the 1st for Minkah and know what we're getting than let them use the pick and possibly end up with another soft Taco.
Definitely agree. People have a weird view of first round picks because they COULD be smashing successes. A good example is when we traded a first for Amari. So many people were up in arms but the chances a first round WR was going to be as good as Amari is actually pretty slim when you look at the last couple drafts. I think bottom line is that the cowboys just dont value the safety position that much. They havent used a high pick on one since Roy Williams and the position has been filled by a parade of late round guys and FA. I can still dream though
Gallup out 2-4 weeks. Having arthroscopic knee surgery to shave his meniscus. No structural damage to the other ligaments. Devin Smith gonna get some burn
Feels weird to say, but I’m going to trust Richard, McClay and the rest of the front office in their decision here
Taco requesting a release. Not a huge loss but i had some hopes for a second after the texans preseason game
Hey Jacksonville. Sorry to hear Ramsey wants a trade. Can i interest you in a soft taco and some day 2 picks?
Yeah for several reasons I wouldn't actually be too happy about pursuing that. 1) hes a year away from getting the GDP of a small nation for a contract 2) I honestly like our corners and while he would certainly be an upgrade, the unit has made strides and I would rather not ruin that 3) Dude is pretty god damn volatile. That explosion on the sidelines on Sunday (even if he had a good reason for being mad) is just not the way to handle things and the team we have put together has been awesome about staying level headed 4) I am sure the Jags want a boatload in return and the Cowboys have done well enough drafting in the last couple years that I would rather arm Stephen/Will McClay with picks
Damn. Xavier Woods out 4-6 weeks with a high ankle sprain. Fuck. Packers, Saints and Philly all coming up with good WR groups
My hope as well. I don't really worry about him missing time until week 5 when we play Rogers. I would really prefer we don't rush X or MG back. The team is pretty deep and I want those guys at full speed after the bye when our schedule gets a lot harder and our friends in Philly get a run of easier games
Man, looking at our PFF grades for Week 2...woof Connor Williams. I know hes got a lot of defenders and it may be premature to pull the rip cord on a guy who is only in his second year but man he has definitely been the weakest link in the chain. The line looks great so far. The return of fredrick seems to have solidified things as we had all hoped and they have provided great protection (Dak was sacked 56 times last year and thus far has only gone down 1 time). That said, Williams looked bad on Sunday. He gave up the only sack, had several costly penalties and just generally looked pretty bad. I know he won't play Daron Payne every week but man...thinking back to that draft where we could have had Earl Thomas for that 2nd round pick and instead we got Williams... Hopefully he improves. A single bad lineman probably doesn't kill you if the others are playing well but If he puts up a 40 PFF grade every week there could come some key moments where bad things happen
Also La'el is playing lights out this season so I'd like to let it be known that I always believed in him and never once doubted him or the insanely team-friendly deal he just signed
Amari made up for that drop by shaking Howard hard enough to draw the flag and catch the TD. Love it. Work on the drops tho Amari.
Pass rush needs to dial it up. I am not worried about it this week but when we play Aaron Rogers or Tom Brady, this level of pressure isnt gonna cut it
Not having Gallup is hurting. Receivers aren’t getting open or Dak isn’t seeing them. Tough to tell with some of the bad throws he’s forced today
I swear to god every time Zeke breaks one I just don’t even get excited any more It’s always a fucking hold
First half was pretty much everything that could go wrong. Both sides of the ball looked pretty shitty. However, one thing I really liked about that game was that in the past, the Cowboys tended to come out with a plan and if it didn't work we were fucked. Garrett/Linehan demonstrated time and time again that they could not make halftime adjustments. Yesterday the team came out 2nd half firing. Even when Cobb's TD got called back (fucking Conner williams I hate you so much) they overcame that and put the phins away. Good shit from both sides of the ball. Now, that said, they cannot afford to give the Saints half the game for free next week. Even without Brees, the Saints proved yesterday they can beat people. We need to come out next week like we came out in the 2nd half yesterday. I was happy to see Quinn and Tank get theirs. I do hope Xavier Woods is back for NO. We are also definitely missing Gallup. Hopefully he is back sooner rather than later. Also, super stoked to see Pollard do his thing and Zeke giving him love. Keeping Zeke fresh and having a guy who can provide a different look is going to pay huge dividends down the stretch
