I'm curious how long it's going to take McNair to realize that none of this PR disaster will ever get better until Easterby is completely out of the picture. It's not going to be good either way, but as long as he's there it's a shadow that looms over everything.
Bob McNair was a good owner. As it seems like with most of these situations, his underserving offspring is in fact undeserving and a moron
also they were up 24-0 at kc against the future champs last year around this time. they weren’t far off whatsoever and they let their moron coach/gm light the fuse before letting bootleg joel osteen finish destroying the franchise
sounds like he hasn't been as involved in the search processes as you might expect a superstar QB to be. The whole Hopkins trade has to be a major gripe too. That made the organization look like a joke
Yeah and Cincy is probably pretty comfortable expecting Burrow to recover and pick up where he left off
Was just going to reply by saying I would add CIN. Watson is better than Burrow right now, but it's not worth the amount you'd have to trade to make that swap for a short term upgrade.
Pretty much every one of their all time greats are just shitting all over the organization. Andre Johnson, JJ Watt, Arian Foster, Deshaun Watson. Miami has been a dumpster fire organization for 20 years and with all of the incompetent morons running things over that span even they never managed to fuck things up this bad.
Brady has definitely exceeded my expectations this year but if we somehow had the opportunity to bring in a 25 year old elite qb I'd give up a shitload of picks
I mentioned it in another thread but the 9ers make a lot of sense as a destination. They already have a ton of young talent on both sides of the ball and are ready to contend so sending a haul of picks isn't a killer for them. Cut Jimmy G and you have the cap space. Makes too much sense.
Yeah with the two 3rd rounders I think coming back from Saleh I really hope they put the full court press on.
The Texans have been a shit-ass franchise since their inception but have been too irrelevant for anyone to notice until now. Just a lazy, boring team name and concept that never captured the city. The best thing that could happen at this point is for the McNairs to sell the franchise, and for. some sort of re-brand to happen. Ideally they would buy the Oilers naming rights back from the Titans but the Adams family supposedly will never sell those back to Houston
What should they be called then? Move the team out to the Woodlands and call it the Houston White Flight? The Houston Wehaveaproblem?
I guess I don’t understand. Youre asking what else, other than “Texans” can they name a team from Houston Texas? You seem to be posing that question as if that is the only option. Im certain there are countless options that would be more inspiring than a team name that simply describes the state in which the team resides. That wasn’t necessarily the focus of my post, but since you asked...
These were the finalists when they originally picked their name: Apollos, Bobcats, Stallions, Texans, and Wildcatters
Yeah and liked you pointed out, they can't go with oilers because the old franchise owners won't sell it. Unfortunately rockets and Astros are taken, so yeah trying to think of something else reflective of Houston. Texans is at least something everyone there can get behind
But a source close to Watson told Mortensen that firing Easterby would not resolve the issue, saying that "Cal McNair would have to fire Cal McNair." Watson has a no-trade clause in his five-year, $156 million deal with the Texans, and some team sources believe that the three-time Pro Bowler could force Houston's hand into trading him. The no-trade clause would give Watson some control over where he is traded because if it wasn't the destination he wanted, he could decline to report. There is a growing consensus within the NFL, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, that Watson will force his way out, and the Texans believe he will command a high compensation package in a trade. A source close to Watson told Mortensen that the Dolphins remain prominent as an acceptable landing spot because the quarterback likes the culture he has observed under Miami head coach Brian Flores and there are no state income taxes in Florida
But a source close to Watson told Mortensen that firing Easterby would not resolve the issue, saying that "Cal McNair would have to fire Cal McNair." That’s a pretty crazy quote and makes me believe this shit is really going to happen which I was very skeptical before
And how willing he is to sit until he gets moved. If he doesn't show up and they don't move him, that becomes a very pricey decision for Watson if he tries to hold out for only 1 or 2 teams. That would mean fines, no salary and possibly being in breach to the point of losing bonus money.
